Hey all, I am pleased to announce the release of a very special documentary film called Polly's GlobalWalk. It's an enlightening and entertaining human interest story about the first woman — Polly Letofsky — to successfully walk around the world. She did it in the name of breast cancer awareness, raising over $250,000 for breast cancer in the process. For details, check out the note from the director at the bottom of this email. Seven years in the making, this is truly a stunning piece of documentary film work. I am proud and honored to have had the great fortune to produce the original music score. Please join us next Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Parkway Theater in south Minneapolis for the world premiere Polly's GlobalWalk. Purchase advance tickets > Of course, this won't be your only chance to see this film. Polly's GlobalWalk will be available on DVD soon. I should also mention that "Trail's End: The Music of Polly's GlobalWalk" will also be available on CD shortly. I just have to weed through thirty pieces of music first. Stay tuned and thanks for your support! Go to the Polly's GlobalWalk website> Sincerely,

Current mood: pleased
I played at the 318 in Excelsior, Minnesota last night. If you're not familiar with this place, you should be. It's one of the best places to hear live music and the food is great. The room is warm and open and perfect for acoustic music. Many live recordings have been made there.
I was fortunate enough to share the bill with two other outstanding musicians; Matthew Fox (guitar/vox) and Clint Hoover (harmonica/vox). Clint sat in with me and I sat in with Clint and Matthew. It was fun, spontaneous and very relaxed. The gig was poorly attended however. Just one of those nights. It didn't necessarily pay off financially but it sure paid of spiritually.
If you get a chance to catch Matthew Fox and/ or Clint Hoover I suggest you take advantage of the opportunity.
Thank you guys!

In case you didn't know, I want to tell you about a very cool house gig going on in south Minneapolis called "The Hoot". It happens every Friday evening from 6:30-9:00 in the basement of Java Jack's located at the corner of Bryant Ave. S. and 46th Street. This all acoustic "round-robin" songwriter showcase is the brainchild of writer/musician Jim Walsh. Jim has transformed the basement of this coffee shop into a comfortable "college-hippy-bachelor pad" type of space where people of all ages gather to witness the most intimate of musical performances from some of the best singer/songwriters around. You never know who might show up at these gigs, besides Jim who MC's the event. There is no cover charge and people tend to bring their own snacks and libations (though, it would be nice if more people actually supported the coffee shop upstairs). I am very excited about my opportunity to perform some of my new material at "The Hoot" on Friday, March 23. I hope you will join us and see for yourself how cool and unique this gig really is.

The show so nice, we're doing it twice. Due to the winter storm this weekend, we're going to take a second swing at 5th Annual The Dark Horse Revue. Come on down to the Fine Line Music Cafe on Sunday, March 4, to see a fabulous tribute to the great George Harrison.
The show includes a revolving cast of performers from year to year, and this year will feature performances from me, John Eller, Steve Price, Noah Levy, Jon Duncan, George McKelvey, Matt Darling, Dave Russ, Jenny Fraser, Jon Herchert, Kevin Nord, Kevin Bowe, Laurie Glaser, Janey Winterbauer, Marc Perlman, Dan Israel and more.

A Tribute to George Harrison7 p.m. February 25 Fine Line Music Cafe, Minneapolis $10 at the door
The Dark Horse Revue brings together the Twin Cities' top talent to pay tribute to the great George Harrison.
The show includes a revolving cast of performers from year to year. This year's show at the Fine Line will feature performances from me, John Eller, Steve Price, Noah Levy, Jon Duncan, George McKelvey, Matt Darling, Dave Russ, Jenny Fraser, Jon Herchert, Kevin Nord, Kevin Bowe, Laurie Glaser, Janey Winterbauer, Marc Perlman, Dan Israel and more.
I love leading this show. The Dark Horse Revue is a really fun way to preserve the memory of such an influential artist and great human being. Everyone involved recognizes how important George was to the sound of the Beatles and to the world at large.
This tribute is a good opportunity to see many great Minnesota musicians pool their talents to perform timeless classics from one of the world's preeminent songwriters. In addition to the songs Harrison recorded with the Beatles, the Dark Horse Revue covers many Harrison numbers from his 20-plus albums as a solo artist and member of the Traveling Wilburys.
Frank Sinatra once said "Something" was the greatest song that Lennon and McCartney had ever written. Come to this tribute to give "the quiet Beatle" the respect he deserves.
