We are sad to announce that Markus leaves Casket. There is no drama behind his departure. Markus is (be)heading towards new challenges in his life, towards new ambitions. We wish him well and the best of luck. He will be always be our friend and part of the legions of Casket. We recorded three demos with him and played dozens of gigs, covered thousands of miles of roads and drank one or two bottles of beer (hell yeah). We hope that some day we share the same stages with him, once again, with a feeling. You know what they say, sometimes a goodbye is a second chance. We are sad to let him go, but at the same time I feel this is a dawn of new era for the Casket. Nevertheless...We won't lay back, we will come and mutilate you ! Stay tuned for more news from camp Casket.

We are now officially looking for a new drummer. For now the search is limited only inside Finland. You can find the ad from muusikoiden.net http://muusikoiden.net/wanted/nayta.php?id=61082

Current mood:  quixotic
Hello all Satans little darling,

It's headbanging time. Casket metal-division is about to hit studio 22th of this month, which is three days from now. We are going to record new demo/promo/EP, what ever you want to call it. Recording will take place in Heinola, Finland, with help of our man, Juho Räihä (Gloria Morti, Before The Dawn), who is going to put the shit togeather and tune it to sound like something that was intented to sound good. Nah, just kiddin'. New stuff is some serious shit.

We have been rehearsing and writing new material. We have had some positive feedback from our stuff, and our material released trough for at least one complication album by finnish Tuhma magazine, other complication release is currently under negotiation. Record labels, what the fuck is wrong with you ? Can't you hear that our balls are on fire ?

New shit is coming togeather pretty well and we are pretty sure that the new stuff will rock like shit. Songs are being titled something like this: Born to eat human flesh, shotgun diplomacy, decade of decapitation and reborn as carnage. Sound pretty fucking brutal, doesn't it ?

Studio diary will be posted online and we are going to realease some shit as soon as shit hits the fan, which in finglish means, as soon as last day of mixing is over. Keep on fucking supporting metal !

Hi boys and girls ! Things are going well in camp Casket. We have been doing some gigs and rehearsing new material and ofcourse without forgetting to drink some booze and smoke some serious shi...shitake mushrooms at the same time. We are planning a trip to studio at the end of this year, because there were almost no interest by the record companies we keep and fighting at our own. So fucking you everyone who don't understand our potential and hail to those who still keep wondering why we aren't signed yet. So briefly: FUCK AND HAIL ! New websites, finally, are almost ready and they will be revealed within few week (as soon as new promoshots are taken) and person who's writing this is working his ass out while trying to get this all done in time. I can promise that new and furious Casket is ready to kill. FUCK AND HAIL ! We are also returning to the roots with our new material. It will be more deathmetal, less american oriented new wave, whatever you want to call it. No because we don't like the way state of denial or leave the line are, but we think that lower is better. And ofcourse without forgetting our roots. By Ville R.

I am deeply sad to announce that our gig at Ravintola Hellä, Tampere has been cancelled with w/Inferia and Murdershock. Ravintola Hellä also cancelled all their gigs planned for this year. Rumours say that it was because of alcohol serving discriminations. Who knows, but one thing is for sure, we are pissed about it. I hope Hellä and their crew works things out and they will back ASAP. Well life goes on and there is more to announce.

You can spot Eero and Ville at gig with Final Harvest (some new serious deathmetal) at Turku Dante's corner 15.3. It will be true headbanging and slaughter from cradle to the grave !

Hail metal and fucking salute !

AS you might have noticed you haven't heard nothing from Casket camp for a while. I can tell you that there is nothing to worry about We just have had some time off. Coming year promises us a lot. Some gigs have already been confirmed and "almost confirmed" and new material has been rehearsed a lot. Who ever knows if finally our first full-lenght record will be out. Who knows, if it's up to me I would be eager to do that.

About the new material. It's death, it's punk, it's hardcore just like you liked it in the past. And he who doesn't understand that we will not stop, piss on him. Eero has been spitting those tritones and falsenotes from his guitar like a true corpsegrinder and new stuff sounds amazing. You will be hearing new pre-demos from us anytime soon.

So everyone merry christmas and happy new year. Even though there is no god and counting time is just vanity. Hail Metal ..,,/

P.S Thank you for Wellu from PressurePoints(FIN) for handing us gig at Ravintola Hellä at Tampere, Finland. Now theres a guy and a band that I call true metal !

Hi again you crazy motherfuckers,

Casket is going to studio again. It is second time this year and we are fucking excited about it. Last time it was a bit cold (in the studio) and we all were nervous about losing our "recording virginity". Well, we are still nervous because: This time not because of lack of experience, but because this material is going to kick some ass! We are going to record two songs that to me sound really much like thrashmetal / new wave of American metal hybrid. One more darker oldschool sounding doom/deathmetal song and one total fucking pure "in-to-the-pit" -type death/thrash assault. Our guitarists were hooked with brand new ENGL powerball and screamer amps, so thanks to those crazy engineers in Germany. Best news are that Tuomas Saukkonen (Before The Dawn) will feature on one song...It still remains as a secret, which one, where and how ?

This site and our website, which, yes, is still under construction (due technical reasons (my ass they are tech...)) are ready in no-time when we finish coverart for the new demo. Best news are that we are going to publish limited 100 copy version which will feature both demos and it will be sent over to the recordcompanies and upcoming summerfestivals in 2008. Merchandise is also available soon !

Demo is published over internet 30th of July 2007

Best Wishes,
W. Rutan

Hellou!

This is a gig report of Corpsefest from my point of a view, with the generous help of my brother Eero.

We had rehearsed for over 7 hours a day in a three days period and so we were sure that our Corpsefest gig would kick some ass! We would be the headliner for the first time and there was this Thrash Metal group called Tormentor Squad from ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Lahti and ever-talented Inferior from Hämeenlinna about to warm up the crowd for us. The day started just well – we were right on time and headed to the Arx-house to Hämeenlinna.

At Arx arrangements went pretty smoothly and everything was pretty much in order. We did sound check and it couldn't be better. Soon the two other bands showed up and after their sound checks we all were ready for the evening. It was time get some lunch.

We spotted a grill right next to Arx and lunched there. Food was otherwise ok but Jesus Christ I it was the hottest kebab of all times! It still feels that my mouth is on fire, not mentioning my ass. Fuck the shit I must say. And of course; we bought hell of a lot beer for the after parties since it is not allowed to be drunk at Arx. – Though I think there was a bit strange flavour in the energy drinks of Inferior.

After a couple hours of wasting some time the first headbangers started to show up. Doors opened at 7:30 PM and Tormentor Squad was about to thrash half an hour later. So when it was eight a clock I stepped to the stage and welcomed everyone to the festival. After that I made room for TS so that they could warm up the place a bit. And that's for sure what they did.

Sounds were a bit messed up with TS but guys played well. Tempos were over 200 BPM all the time and I still wonder how someone can beat drums like Rickhard without a break. After 40 minutes Tormentor Squad finished their task and it was a time to change the backline a bit for Inferior. Tormentor Squad is one hell of a Thrash Metal machine.

Inferior entered the stage at 9:00 PM and you could tell that the band really had their fans there! Inferior threw a kickass show and the atmosphere was awesome: An aggressive pit rolled, people moshed and die hard's even crowd surfed. Hometown boys really shook the place. It would be hard for us to raise the level after their showdown!

Then the clock turned to 10:00 PM and it was our time to show what we got. When Inferior had finished some metal fellows left the Arx but it was a pleasure to see that a lot of headbangers stayed – and not all of them were just our friends. And so we gathered up to psyche ourselves for the gig, and promised that we would give the audience what they wanted. We were in a mood for kill. Ville said something a bit gay back there and then we entered the stage.

Set begun with a real hardcore-attitude: Corpses Crushed Under A Tank opened the game as always and it was awesome. We couldn't have felt better. After that there was time for a three-songs-in-a-row medley which started with ever-aggressive Napalm Rain. Napalm Rain was followed by a cover song and then something horrible happened…

The worst case scenario: The first time ever we forgot our backup guitar and ESP:s A-string snapped while Eero was soloing. Holy shit fuck cunt! (Eeros thoughts: "When the string broke down I felt like I was about to smash the whole fucking guitar into the ground and piss on it! Well, then I remembered that that's my only guitar and I have no money, so that's about it".) Ville told a couple of jokes and I threw my Les Paul to Eero and headed to the backstage to ask whether someone would have a dropped C-tuned guitar. No one did. With empty hands I returned to the stage and after a twenty second speculation we decided that Eero will be the Casket member playing the guitar tonight (since Eero is the one who does almost all the leads). And what did I? I took my place next to Ville and grapped the microphone for backing vocals and started to mosh.

We continued our set – though feelings were maybe a bit frustrated. But we didn't even get to the chorus of the next song when we all realised that the gig would turn out great anyway! Audience was fucking awesome and Eero did amazing job with just one guitar! Ville, Juhis and Maksi were also on fire! I did some serious headbanging and growling with Ville who understood the matter of the situation, and it was actually quite fun to do some vocals there: Every once in a while Ville left the responsibility of lead vocals for me and concentrated on commanding the pit. It was fucking hostile. We did every chorus together and I think that after all the result with just one guitar was surprisingly good – at least if it's believing to the audience! A special thanks to the guy who was mixing.

So even though we had "a little" affliction there and playing wasn't technically superb, in my opinion the gig at Corpsefest was one of the bests so far. Atmosphere and feeling were high through the evening. One sad thing was that we had to play a cover song instead of our brand new one because it would have definitely needed two guitars… But I'm pretty sure that the song will see daylight on our next gig which will be at May. (More about that when the time is right.)

After the gig we helped with cleaning the place and shook hands with everyone involved the festival. A big thanks to Arx, Riikkis and Päivi, Tormentor Squad and Inferior, The Chief Lehtonen, Keksa and Linda, and Anniina and Myyry. Thanks also to our crew: Team Corpse members; Sergeant Vaahtera, HC and Repe. Thanks to everyone who helped us!

…and the after parties?

Finally we dropped our gear to our rehearsal dungeon at 0:30 AM and then headed to Kataloinen for the after parties. We went straightway to sauna and had some beer. We ended up being divinely drunk. At dawn we were totally fucking lost.

Cheers,

Lauri (& Eero)
