The “Vertical Ascent” LP by Moritz Von Oswald Trio is everything I could have wanted from one of my favorite musicians. I’m not even sure what the appropriate comparisons for this music really are, but it made me dig out my Ike Yard “Night After Night” EP (which made me order their recent CD collection of all recorded material as well as previously unreleased and live joints) as well as Rhythm and Sound. A combination of those two seems pretty spot-on: dubby and driving live drum patterns combine with spacey atmospherics to create the perfect soundtrack for a night time drive through the city at high speeds. If anything, this release suffers from being too short! I want it to keep going and going, despite each track being between 8 and 14 minutes in length. This release will be taking its place alongside all the Basic Channel related releases for constant repeat listens, and Pattern 3 will likely be hammered in all of my deejay sets for a good long while. Amazing, brilliant music.

Well, let's hear that Ike Yard 10" and album and catch the next , next thing !

listening to the newly mastered 10" cuts !!!

Today we could hear the Oshima Cassette and Citiesglit mixes for the Phisteria 10" after mastering at Berlin's super Dubplates & Mastering , the Studio run by Moritz Von Oswald and company over in Kreutzburg.

The two songs are now beyond where they were .

Exciting ! cutting highs, blooms of sound , depth beats ...

Together with the remixes this is going to be hot piece of wax !

Finishing the cover design ,

and the rest of the album will be mastered next.

Ike Yard 10" - early Nov.

Ike Yard öst 10" - Phisteria gave us a date - Nov.1 through Phisteria.

Of course, hard to say when it will actually be in the States , for example.

You can probably order direct from the label if you want an early copy.

We also expect the album to drop before Christmas ...

Yes, it took awhile - 27 years !

but honestly , we never expected to do it.

The 10" and album are going into Mastering soon @ Berlin's noted

Dubplates & Mastering - you know, the Basic Channel guys ...

Waldchengarten remixes Oshima Cassette

Last night Karsten @ Phisteria sent over an mp3 of the brand new Waldchengarten remix of our Oshima Cassette track.

And it is so cool.

Beatless like the best ambient musik of the moment,

will mix well with Moritz Von Oswald Trio or Hecker's Imaginary Country",

Fennesz' "Black Sea" or even Kompakt's Pop Ambient 09 ...

And a bit dark tinged too.

Northern.

Ike Yard album !

We just returned last night from a last session at Riverglass Studios upstate.

Engineer, Co producer and Studio owner Paul Geluso has even more gear to help make the tracks shine, distort and soar.

We sat in one room listening to the whole thing on another system, with rain dripping off the eaves outside.

This being our first whole lp after the Factory lp 1982,

We were thinking about the two yesterday, and as we listened I could make out things that reminded myself and probably you too of pieces from that album ...

An M Kurtzian striding chopping bt here , atonal and perc passages there , a lyric from Citiesglit taking me right back to a rooftop on LES 1980.

But this album goes beyond alright ...

No one else makes musik like some of the expansions we get into with this body of works. 2- 3 bts working together, or a little canted forward or bk ? We got that.

And more.
