Originally appearing on "Budiskoodough", this tune was originally recorded in Mike's King Street apartment in Boone, NC. Original performers were drunken Josh, Mike, Mark, Rube, John Mullholland, and maybe Jesse. "The Ballad of the Fifty Foot David Bowie", as with all our songs, originated from absolutely nowhere. Which is probably why it is so musically a thematically spastic, a sentence which begins with a grammatical error.
Rube here is at his sweater wearing whitest. There is some reggae. We have no idea where the reggae came from. It has nothing to do with the rest of the song. The primary theme, Descent into Rasta Incomprehensibility While Referencing Bowie While Informing Your Song With Very Little of His Actual Influence, is one we will return to in no other of our works. So there.
The tale begins? in Intercourse, Pennsylvania, where Monster N (an foot high plastic dinosaur animated by radiation) is testing his evil devices in preparation for his eventual destruction of New York City. He see all dem nat'ral resource, and now me feel irie. The Pennsylvania Science Patrol dispatches the newest in their arsenal of Super Secret Weapons, the Fifty Foot David Bowie, to deal with the threat.
And then nothing happens.
The song ends.
Sorry.

Bob Spelled Backwards Presents: "Bob Spelled Backwards Presents: "Hindquarter Headquarters: Sunset Beach Booty Base Vol. 7"", their masterworks collection to date and the ONLY BOB SPELLED BACKWARDS RECORDING NOT MADE WITH AN 80's BOOMBOX CONDENSER MIC!!
At turns prolific, shockingly accomplished, clever or mindlessly stupid, well performed or butchered, the new recording by the mysterious cult illuminati of North Carolina, USA's fledgling acoustic psychedelic comedy scene proves that Bob Spelled Backwards have not only mastered Hyperbole and run-on sentences but have also created a work of nigh-enduring sillyness.
MP3s coming soon!

by mark on Fri 01 Feb 2008 04:43 PM PST | Permanent Link | The music archive recently grew by 12 tracks, as I've been able to track down 2 lost recordings, and 4 other songs that had been lost to damaged tapes and other maladies. New for your listening pleasure in the stores to your right are the following tracks: Bob Spelled Backwards: Alexander's Mediocre Day You Won't Have Time to Laugh When the World Explodes It Was the Dog Bob Won't Let me Do Anything Great Awakening's missing FINAL studio recording including REWORKED versions of: Hey Brother The Girl I Love is Dead (Suzy) and studio versions of two favorites featuring Jodie Manross:
Untitled My Children
And that's not all! Also included are lost 3-five-7 four track demos: Fall Down Boo Radley Stormy Weather (feat. Jim Loggins) Wounded Hand And a rare live recording of Monster N I couldn't figure out how to re-order the songs in the stores so that the new additions would be at the top of the list, so to make them easy to find, I've made their price $.99 instead of the usual $1. Sound Quality The Bob songs have sound quality typical of Bob songs. The other Bob songs available were 2nd generation copies of the source tapes that were digitized with a "hot" input to boost their volume. The new ones are 3rd generation copies digitized through unknown means. They are somewhat quieter than the previously posted ones. The Great Awakening songs are all of Superior recording quality than all previously posted songs, but were from 3rd to 4th generation tape copies and have digitization differences the same as mentioned above. The 3-five-7 songs, with the exception of Monster N, were recorded prior to the Blizzard recording, using a basic 4-track. Their recording quality is noticeably lower than the Blizzard recordings. These were sourced from an unknown generation cassette, with the same digitization differences, so their volume is also noticeably fainter. Monster N is here in it's only recorded form, from a live performance at The Klondike in Boone, circa '96 or '97. The mix is substandard, with the vocals greatly overpowering the instruments, but I felt compelled to post it anyway. NOTE: Thanks to Kara for having these recordings socked away for all these years!
