You may be wondering, what are those crazy Nettles up to NOW?
There's a few shows to tell you about! Catch the Nettles at the 2008 Fallen Firefighters benefit show on Sept. 27th... It will be held at Your Place bar/restaurant (outside- weather permitting) on Rt. 30 in Lancaster (near those crazy outlets). ANother show you shouldn't miss is at the Chameleon Lounge on Oct. 18th with Atlanta Georgia's GRINGO STAR! If you've never seen or heard Gringo Star, you need to see them in action! Those guys are the coolest and you'll never see anyone switch instruments so fast ever again!
The show will also feature Scranton's "And The Money Notes" with whom everyone is excited to see/hear as well!
Stinging Nettles have been hard at work recording Their full-length album! It's been hard work and more hard work is in store. When the record is done, They'll be sure to let you know.. and they'll let you know how you can purchase the cd. The Nettles will probably make the album available in a few formats... Digital download, compact disk & possibly a limited-edition cassette complete with hand-made, one-of-a-kind packaging. Now that may sound weird to you, but if you're like the guys in Stinging Nettles, you LOVE the sound of tape. Now, cassettes aren't as nice as Reel-to-Reel, but hey... who's gonna complain!
Anyway, the band will get you all the details ASAP... and check the pics link to see photos from recent recording sessions.
In other news, John is going to be posting some of his earlier paintings on e-bay... cleaning house, it seems. From what he says, there are 3 works and each will be available separately for bids in the next month or so. Details to follow.
A Stinging Nettles music video is on its way! The boys are making plans to film and produce their own video, showing off even more of their seemingly endless creativity! Look for that around the time of the release of the album.
Some of you have been asking when new t-shirts, stickers and buttons will be available. The answer to that question is: New buttons are available NOW... $1 each... two different designs.... very cool accessory for your denim jacket! The sticker shipment is due to arrive any day now! We found a few of the old t-shirt designs.. in limited sizes, but we have new shirts on the way... as soon as that crazy loon, John, gets his act together and designs something.

Hello Nettleheads!

If you’ve checked our list of shows for this spring, you’ll see our newest addition is June 7th at the Chameleon Lounge. We’ll be playing with The Dead Milkmen’s Joe Jack Talcum! Come out and hear his solo material and some old favorite Dead Milkmen tunes! A third band will be announced soon! Stay tuned!

Some current happenings: The band has just scheduled a photoshoot, so look for those pics on the myspace site soon!

AJ and John have been doing some recording for our friends "Reason Left Town". If you have a chance to get out and see one of their shows, please do... you won't be sorry. It'll take you back to a time when you bought your music at shows on 7" records! Stay tuned for their EP.

Marshall has been shopping for cocktail drum kits and taking some classes just for the hell of it... what a nerd! hahaha! Kidding, Marshall!

Someday soon we will get back to making a record, but for now, we're just writing new songs and rehearsing for shows.

Hello Nettleheads.

Greetings from planet Nettalia. Our next show(as of now) is May 24th. We'll be at Bube's Brewery in Mount Joy, PA. playing with Reason Left Town. We'll send you a few fun reminders along the way... just so you won't forget!
    As we posted in our last blog... we're now a 3-piece band. But don't worry, we're not changing much but we are exploring a darker, moodier side... a louder side.... a craftier side. We'll let you be the judge.... we think you'll like the new Nettles aesthetic! We hope to see you all out at the shows!

Nettles News:

Stinging Nettles has undergone some changes recently. If you have been to any of our more recent shows, you may have noticed that some members have come and gone. Guitarist, Paul Skozilas has decided to dedicate more time to his main project, Blue Jean Hackman. For a brief stint of two shows, singer/songwriter Joe McMonagle of Slimfit fame, had filled the space in the sonic landscape that Paul had left behind. Although not trying to replace the unique style and lead arrangements that Paul brought to the table, we felt that we needed to keep the quirky sawblade twang and delayed, chiming riffs that added some moody sparkle to our sound. Joe was just our man! He played two shows with us, both at Bube's brewery in Mount Joy, PA. Just when things were getting good, he goes and quits on us! He too, felt he needed to dedicate his time to his main project, which we understood and fully supported.
We have decided to remain a three-piece. And Marshall is singing backups! YESSSSSS!
We're writing some new music and re-working some of my older material. Expect to see some new things from us in early Spring.

Well, our second show was an awesome experience! It was great to be on the main stage at the Chameleon and to rock out for such a great crowd.... and for such a great cause! The Scleroderma foundation's own Wendy Faggart and students from Millersville University, organized a great showcase of entertainment! The event featured comedy from two Comedy Zone comedians, Paul Lyons and Shaun Jones as well as some great music from the band, Safejacket and of course, yours truly.... Stinging Nettles!

To all that came out to check out our sound & support the cause.... thank you!!! We hope that y'all will come out to our future shows this spring & summer... hang out and have a blast!!! We hope to be rocking the stages of Bube's Brewery & Chameleon very soon!
