check out the new song on the player. its called "I like Trains"

the song is mostly an experimentation.. with overlapping different time signatures on top of one another creating dynamic polyrhythms. for example we have the guitar, keys and bass playing in
6/8 and the drums going in 5/8. eventually after a few cycles in which the accent of the drums changes each measure in relation to the harmony/..melody, the pattern begins again and is accented with a crash cymbal.. looks something like this

drums
5+5+5+5+5+5=30

guitar/..keys/bass
6+6+6+6+6=30

so after 30 beats the cycle begins again. but during this cycle the accent of the rhythm constantly changes.

right now we dont have a title for the second song on the page. its a little mellower than anything else we have done recently.. doesnt have any saxophone or horns but almost every song on the next album will have quite a bit of horns. havent recorded the horns yet so thats why this song is going up right now...

this song uses a lot of "polytonality" or more specifically chords over bass notes that you wouldnt find in diatonic harmony i.e. regular major, minor pentatonic scales. these dissonances imply an altered dominant chord which resolves to another chord. sometimes the chords progress harmonically separate from the bass line almost as if two songs in two different keys are placed on top of each other. however the combination of the bass line and the chords on top usually work out to make something that makes sense harmonically. however sometimes the bass line resolves to something in the chords on top. and vice versa. in other words the two different progressions of the bass line and the chords switch during the resolution: the bass line resolving the chord set up or the chords resolving the note set up in the bass line. all of this shit was sort of done by accident by just using my ear but ive been working on this sort of thing for about 6 years now.

the rest of the next album is going in a more "prog" direction than any of our other shit. still a lot of jazz, punk, grindy shit, noise, weird odd time signatures. prolly gonna even have some sitar on this one!

working on this new album. yes it will have a horn section and shit! this album actually has guitar solos!!! because mike is playing guitar and i play keyboard so i dont have to play at the same time anymore!!! this album is turning out ultra-PROG but its still brutal, still very avant-jazz, and still got that noise element as well. a lot of Hammond B-3 style shit some heavy synth, very King Crimson style.. a lot of quartal harmonies and soloing

tracks recorded so far

1. Guardian Angel
2. slow song (working title)
3. mike's song (working title)
4. monster wars (working title)
5. New Epic Journey (working title)
6. I Like Trains
7. Improv 1
8. Improv 2
9. untitled song

the whole thing will total maybe 60-70 minutes if it goes on CD, less if it goes on LP..
maybe theres even more songs we recorded that i forgot about...
will put up some preview tracks soon.

if there are any labels out there who are interested hit me up.. down to split release this with another label... let me know if you can do something for us

come listen to us play this new shit this sunday at the blue lagoon

im tired of having to deal with seeing a bunch of hipster douche bags whenever i wanna go see a show. i remember when i was younger there was none of this shit. now im reading reviews online of our 7" (postive reviews by the way) calling us a screamo band. this disgusts me.

i remember when emo hipster pussies only listened to shitty singer-songwriter garbage, emo, indie and related styles. now they've all started listening to grind and metal like its the new ska. fuck you.

but really if you like our music and this offends you don't worry about it. im not telling anybody that they shouldnt listen to our music. i dont really give a shit what you like as long as your not calling us a screamo band. but if you do decide to say such things then i will find out where you live, chop your fuckin head off and play soccer with it. terrorist style biotch.

im also equally sick of metal purist jackoffs who assume that if you wanna experiment with the style you must be a fuckin screamo band. i guess we all might as well be performing Gregorian chant then. how the fuck you think real grind music (Napalm Death, etc) or any other metal subgenre got created. it was from people experimenting with the style. i guess we wont see any new creativity from either the emo idiots or the metal jackoffs cuz the emo kids are worthless puppet imitators and the metal purists are too pussy to experiment with the sound. Fuck "grind" and "emo" or any label hold allegiance to nothing; no group, no afilliation of any sort. Punk rock has the exact same problem.

why the fuck has noise music gotten so sceney? fuck that shit. i hate everyone. i especially hate having my music being categorized as something that its not.
