ISK BLOG 5 Welcome all to the newest of our blogs, it has been a while again so apologies for the lack of contact. First up, big thanks to everyone who has been coming to our gigs and festivals, your support, whooping and cockney dancing is always and will always be hugely appreciated. Speaking of the festivals, we have played a huge number of them this summer, all equally enjoyable for many different reasons. We pulled crowds of various sizes and they were all mad, enthusiastic and occasionally drunk, even in the shittest of weather conditions. We witnessed some bizarre and fantastical things including the wedding dresses and terrifyingly sinister looking dolls which were hanging from the walls and roof of one tent we played. This tent was opposite another tent where they cut the hair from your head and used it to fashion beards and moustaches for other people…pretty gross... But all fun in a strange and unhygienic way. The mud was often unbearable and while Piers, Theo and whoever else tagged along smugly leapt about in this filth like piglets, George and Danny never once thought to invest in a pair of boots. This resulted in two ruined pairs of shoes and some very botched last-minute-welly attempts.
..tr> | | ..table> We were also lucky enough to play Sugarhill festival with the Young Knives which was an absolute blast. We had (from what I remember!) a very civilized chat with them backstage before they went on, and they were as well mannered as they were well dressed. A quick thank you must be mentioned to all of you who saw us play round the country at these different festivals, and took time out of your no doubt busy lives to message us and show your support!
Fairly soon after we played the last of our summer festivals, we were invited to be interviewed on BBC Radio Insight. This was a fantastic experience for us and gave us an excuse to record some acoustic versions of three of our songs; I Can't Reach You, White Lines, and the un-named new tune which, if you came to either of the two most recent gigs, would have been introduced as George's song! We do have copies of these recordings so if anyone would like a cd, let one of us know.
Staying on the topic of recording, we've just come out of Brittania Row Studio having recorded a dazzlingly raw and powerful version of I Can't Reach You. This will be up on the Myspace as soon as the mixing and mastering is finished. I suggest you listen to it nice and loud, maybe with the lights off if that isn't too clichéd! Which of course it is…or is it?...Yes. Finally, we had such great responses and virtually sold out both the Dublin Castle, the Water Rats and the Borderline that I think this would be a great time to plug our upcoming gigs. The next one of these being on the 24th Nov at 333, there's more info on facebook and on our gigs section here so keep ya beady little eyes peeled! If we get as many people as we have done to recent gigs we'll be overjoyed, and Theo has PROMISED to play billy bullock nude. Surely that's incentive enough to get the world and his wife down!
Time for me to sign off-if anyone is good with the ways of BEBO please get in contact, we just set up a page and would love a bit of help with design ideas etc. If this is your forte send us a message or comment on here. Peace y'all, until next tiiime, baaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lorra love Illegitimate Sons of the King xxxxx ..tr>

Category: Dreams and the Supernatural
YYYEEEEESSS!!! It's about that time for another blog and I hope that this one finds you all sitting down, for there is some good news all round. As always the band have been very busy since the last correspondence (I look forward to the day when one of these Blogs begins, 'yes the band have been revelling in idleness, generally doing FWACK all…) and there have been some interesting developments of which I'm sure you're all dying to know more... The first thing to mention is the fun we had playing in ....Hereford.... for the Wyside Festival. It was a fantastic couple of days, George got heinously sunburnt, Theo almost got thrown out for indecent exposure and all four of them rocked out on stage delivering a thrillingly raucous performance. Also playing at the festival were aging rockers Hawkwind; their sonic psychedelia and wonderfully bizarre light shows and acrobatics, quite literally blew Danny's mind... BUT…The most important thing to bring attention to about this festival, is that it gave the band their first opportunity to break in their new, shiny red very own ex-postal, suspentionless, ball breaking VAN!!
Yes sir, nicknamed 'Van Diesel' (for obvious reasons) and reaching break-neck speeds of up to at least 55 mph, this mean machine ferried the lads down treacherous motorways and through mysterious service stations. After a lot of work from Theo and his tools, the seats were moved back for extra spacious leg room, and a compartment was built at the back for all the gear. The boys are most proud of it and any mockery shall be met pugilistic wrath…! In all seriousness, the van is a great addition to the band and anyone fortunate to ride in it will regale you with stories of its charm and efficiency... Finally, you may recognize the voice used on the first track of our Myspace tunes – in fact if you don't recognize it then I can only assume you have been trapped underground, maybe in a bookcase or summink I don't know, but trapped SOMEWHERE with no access to the outside world, for a very long time! It is of course the magnanimous voice of Peter Dickson, voice of E4, ....Britain....'s Got Talent, xfm and a whole host of other fine shows. We were very lucky to get some of his time and the result is a very funny and eye-catching promo for us. Having only heard his voice and based on that alone I was expecting a loveably ancient, Father Christmas style old grandsire! We were, instead met by a rather dashing (totally normal-voiced) man whose improvisations on the loose script we knocked up for him, really make the whole thing come alive, and had us in stitches for most of the day…Ruddy brilliant...
That just about brings us to the end of this update. There are many exciting rumblings taking place all around us which we'll mention and fully deliberate on if and when they come into fruition. Suffice to say it is all looking very promising! Aside from that, we have plenty o' London gigs coming up soon so if you fancy coming along and need cheaper tickets or a ride to the venue, the always bags of space in the bandwagon… which of course you are more than welcome to jump on… Until next time you lovable bunch of rapscallions, be good, be bad, be naughty or be naked, but above all be sure to check the Myspace for more news and stuuffff. You'll hear from us soon, much love! Illegitimate Sons of the King Xxx

I.S.K. Blog 3: FRESH TO DEF
Good day to one and all. There has been much frantic activity in the I.S.K. camp since our last mass communication. Much of February and March was spent on the road and, at intermittent points, yelling our lungs raw and the fantastic crowd that is the Oxford Uni student body. The riot we caused was joyfully and sweatily received; our abundance of energy and that of the crowd may have had SOMETHING to do with the lavish, Willy Wonker style wonder emporium of sweets made available to us. It may have seemed like a natural high but do not be fooled – the entire band was spinning out of control in a sugary haze of sherbet whiz-bangs, flying saucers, rhubarb custards and aniseed explosions! The picture below demonstrates perhaps half of our hourly consumption. Towards the end of March, it was suggested that maybe... just MAYBE an image change was in order. We had no idea why until we were forced to bear witness to this at 9 in the morning whilst waiting for quite a serious meeting to commence… When asked why two pocket watches were necessary (disregarding the unlit/unused pipe and threatening golf club presumably acting as a walking stick substitute) Theo simply said "Well I must know the time in Tokyo and London for my shares you see" Riiight...
So by the grace of the Gods, we managed to establish a sponsorship deal with Puma and Gio-Goi, who were able to save us before more of this fashion faux-pas-manship rubbed off on any of the rest of us. They helped us a great deal in preparation for our photo shoot, and anyone in Carnaby Street on that day would have seen us descend on the place in a tide of cool professionalism, only to be transformed into nippers in a sweet shop leaping around the store to the tune of 'can I have this pair, can I? Can I? Can I?' The answer was yes to all and this picture below shows the result of a day of free range Puma shoe-shopping. Then onto the photo shoot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two stylists, one make up artist, a photographer, a Nige, Nige's assistant, the band assistant and an enthusiastic quartet of Illegitimate Sons of the King resulted in a day of frantic chaos and glorious excitement. It was a long day but a fun day and by 10pm all were ready for a pint then nap (make-up still expertly applied, but resulting in a few odd glances in the pub!). A great time had by all… The photos look fantastic and as there are over 750 of them, they are currently being whittled down to a shortlist of the best, which will be available to see very soon, keep checking the myspace for further details. We have been booked for a number of festivals over the summer, to find out which ones and details on where they are, check the myspace or write on our wall if you need anything…anything at all…and I mean anything…

Hello and a festive hi-five to each and every one of you, I hope this message finds you as expectant and jolly as old St.Nic himself. Since we last spoke we have been busy recording in Britannia Row and making complete tits off ourselves, larking about with the Sunday Sport and starburst choozers. The recording process commenced with German efficiency, sort of like a musical Volvo if you will (and you will) leaving us all in no doubt whatsoever that the following few days would be a breeze and that banging out four tunes in four days would be an easy task… HOWEVER As the hours passed and the days of darkness and confinement took there toll, insanity hit us, and hit us hard. It didn't take long for us to ditch the mundanity of the music being played around with, in order to follow more academic pursuits. Regard the artwork upon Theo's knee. Or the new fashion he tried desperately to promote. (Look at his little face, witness the joy upon't!!) Unfathomably fun as you can imagine this madness must have been, the real gems of joy were lurking just around the corner. All these three photos were taken within walking distance of the studio …are they a joke? Are they an example of genius marketing and publicity? I'll let you decide-either way. Are the Chelsea elite at their finest? The affair was capped off by a ritualistic pulling of the world's biggest cracker, full of rainbows and new years promise. We did eventually manage to produce 4 new tracks which are sounding fantastic (I hope you'll agree!) They will be mixed and mastered in mid Jan so will be ready for your lustful lug'oles then. Till then we are all off to our respective abodes to consume cake. Yes, cake and fine wine.
A very merry Christmas to you all, see you in what I hope will be a crrrrackin' new year!

Category: Blogging
Hello everyone!!!!! Welcome, one and all to the first ISK blog...yes I know tis a thrilling event, try to resist temptations to do a celebratory squat-thrust. We have finally decided to construct a blog because, whereas before a blog of ours would've consisted of 'On Tuesday George ate a crisp…' or 'Sunday, and Danny has just witnessed some string' we now have stuff to say and WANT to make an effort to keep y'all informed on our adventures (some of which are actually quite exciting!) Well we are 1 year old, half as old as Danny's trainers… …be sure to make a public mockery them if you happen to pass him on the street (which is unlikely, as the dilapidated state of his trainers has reduced him to scuttling through the sewers like a rat to avoid embarrassment…or taking a cab). What a year it has been for us! From our first gig in Brighton blagging to get on the bill (and blagging a bit too well and headlining)… (something like this as I remember it!!) …to trailing up and down the country to every pub and club ever made. But the end of the year has brought about a sort of happy sense of contentment, and placed us a lot further down the road form our first gig in Brighton, trembling, sweating, mumbling last requests...Theo did a bit of wee.. Yes we've come on a long way, having now supported 'Klaxons' and 'The Wombats'. We even rocked so hard in Oxford that a sprightly young lad did 4 backflips to congratulate us! (A bit like this except inside and with no motor Bike) (As you can see, one vital lesson we learnt was to bring a camera with us to document such phenomena however we soon mastered this practice) We also put on our own sold out showcase in the Soho Revue bar which went fantastically well, thanks again to all who came, twas a riot and a huge success. As far as taking on the industry, one manager came and went. Currently we have a caretaker manager called 'N-Dogg' who is the nuts and is pimping us to a whole bunch of big cheeses (Not to mention he boasts a trainer collection of over 40 pairs…I mean the man is virtually a wizard, clad in the finest shoes you've EVER seen. SO good are these shoes in fact, that Danny's lewd and filthy shoes are asked to wait outside when N-dogg's are present). We are set to do a whole bunch of new recordings in early December in a place called 'Britannia Row' have a look at the website, it's rrrrather fancy... all very exciting, and should have the recordings ready for the new year. Plus a whole bunch of stuff we can't talk about yet, not cos we're 11 years old and have secret little clandestine chats about you behind your backs when you're playing kiss chase in the playground…no…but because a few things are in the pipeline and we wouldn't want to knacker out your thyroid with EVEN more wondrous possibilities. It's been a really fun year and thanks so much to everyone who has helped make this year the best year of our lives!!!! But I think the most important thing, maybe for us all to remember is that Pier's still has a six pack!!! (check out his smug Mcfly pose!!!) Anyway please feel free to compare your trainers with us below however, anyone with a pair more heinous that Dan's wins a sherbet dib dab/sherbet fountain depending on your personal preference. Me, I'm a sherbet fountain man myself, I could sit here clacking away at the keyboard listing the endless reasons why fountains are superior. But that's another Blog entirely. Perhaps something to look forwards to…Not really. Anyway, goodbye and thanks for reading, from all of ILLEGITIMATE SoNS OF THE KING, BAAAA xxxxxxx
