EXTENSIVE FALL TOUR CONTINUES THROUGH NOVEMBER;

E.I.Y. FEATURED ARTIST GAVIN CASTLETON LANDS OPENING SLOT ON TAKING BACK SUNDAY HEADLINING TOUR
WE THE LIVING JOIN GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE FOR SEVERAL DATES
GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE FILMS VIDEO FOR “STOP, I GET IT”
FROM DEBUT ALBUM ‘FIRST LP’ OUT NOW
GARDENING, NON ARCHITECTURE--the nom de rock of Sarah Saturday--has announced that she’ll be joined by WE THE LIVING for the last several dates of the inaugural E.I.Y FALL TOUR 2009, which kicked off early last month with co-headliner GAVIN CASTLETON. Sponsored by the revolutionary not-for-profit website EARNITYOURSELF.COM--which
supports the independent music community, allowing musicians to trade
shows, book tours, upload articles and information, stream and sell
music, network with other musicians, promoters, venues and fans, as
well as receive personal advice from music industry veterans-- SATURDAY and CASTLETON
have booked all of the dates themselves using tools on the site,
including the “Tour Planning” and “Show Trading” features. Since
launching in 2006, EARNITYOURSELF.COM has blossomed into a thriving community with over nine thousand participating members and, in the last year, has averaged 100,000 pageviews a month. WE THE LIVING will be filling in for CASTLETON
on the tour’s final dates, as he’s seen his grassroots approach to
touring--supported by EarnItYourself.com--grow to the next level by
being invited to open for Taking Back Sunday on several dates.
Portland, OR-based CASTLETON has built his nearly 15-year career on
innovation. He released his 14-song narrative “popera” Home (Five One
Inc) in February 2009, lead by single "Coffeelocks" which received
regular airplay on Los Angeles’ influential NPR station KCRW. On
October 13, GAVIN releases a new three-song EP Random Anthems via
iTunes. Single “Hope is A Drug”--currently receiving regular airplay on
KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic”--can be downloaded for free at
http://...com/hopeisadrug. GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE--a collaboration between Sarah Saturday and producer/engineer Beau Sorenson ( Death Cab for Cutie, Tegan and Sara, Sparklehorse)--released
their first full length album last month, and have been recording demos
together since 2004. The electronic-tinged ethereal power pop of First
LP was recorded in May of 2009 at Chris ( Death Cab For Cutie) Walla's Hall of Justice studio in Portland, OR. The album features all GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE songs recorded to date including “Stop, I Get It (Nevermind Redux).” A video for the track--directed by Chris Laughter of Enjoy Human Productions
and shot in Los Angeles in late-September--emphasizes G, NA’s
mysterious stage show, highlighted by Saturday’s homemade light wall
that backs her on stage. A free MP3 of "Stop, I Get It (Nevermind
Redux)" can be downloaded at http://...com/StopIGetIt. WE THE LIVING
recorded their debut album in early 2007 and have been on the road
since. The band released their 5-song EP Boom Forest - Volume I in
September, available to fans for free via their email list. Through
constant reinvention, touring and street team-led promotion, WE THE LIVING
has grown to a nationally lauded band with a large and fervent
grassroots fan base. They’ll play 250 shows this year, including the E.I.Y. FALL TOUR dates. Dear Friends, In an effort to off-set the cost of touring, and to offer my friends and fans another way to help support without necessarily having to buy merchandise or get stuff from iTunes (which would also be radical), I'm introducing the ability to DONATE to the Touring/Recording/Living fund for Gardening, Not Architecture. I'm currently one month into a tour that doesn't have a set end date, and I'd like to stay on the road as much as I can for the next year, but (for example) I'm already about $1,200 in the hole, and about to start a 1,400 mile drive with about $10 left in cash. I've had a lot of people ask how they can support the tour, so I came up with a way! Here's how it works: Become a G,NA Official SponsorDonate to the tour / gas / food fund and help keep G,NA on the road and in the studio! Every penny counts and will be appreciated beyond words. Your name will be added to the list of contributors unless you ask to remain anonymous. Include your email address to receive a special thank you message from Sarah Saturday. Every time you donate, you'll get a new thank you message and a new asterisk next to your name on the list. Come back to donate often, and tell your friends! Thank you for supporting independent music! Go to http://gardeningnotarchitecture.com and click the DONATE button! Thank you for all your love and support. xoxoSarah

DT: AUGUST 17, 2009
EARNITYOURSELF.COM
--REVOLUTIONARY NON-PROFIT WEBSITE SUPPORTING THE INDEPENDENT MUSIC COMMUNITY--
LAUNCHES FIRST TOUR THIS FALL:
E.I.Y FALL TOUR 2009 FEATURING
GAVIN CASTLETON AND
GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE
ARTISTS BOOK EXTENSIVE 62-DATE FALL TOUR ON THEIR OWN USING FEATURES FOUND ON THE SITE
EARNITYOURSELF.COM is a revolutionary not-for-profit website
supporting the independent music community that allows musicians to
trade shows, book tours, upload articles and information, stream and
sell music, network with other musicians, promoters, venues and fans,
as well as receive personal advice from music industry veterans. Since
launching in 2006, EARNITYOURSELF.COM has blossomed into a
thriving community with over nine thousand participating members and,
in the last year, has averaged 100,000 pageviews a month. A recent
press release on EARNITYOURSELF.COM can be found at http://...com/eiyrelease. The site will present its first tour this fall: the E.I.Y FALL TOUR 2009 featuring GAVIN CASTLETON and GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE--site
co-founder Sarah Saturday’s nom de rock. The artists will book the
entire 62-date tour utilizing the “Tour Planning” and “Show Trading”
features found on the site. The tentative routing for the tour is below
and you can follow the pair as they book venues and confirm details for
each show at: www.earnityourself.com/tour. Also below is information on
tour sponsors Aderra, DiNG and Ernie Ball. Each sponsor has
created unique promotions and custom artist merchandise and content
that will be available throughout the tour. “As much as I enjoy touring, I absolutely dread the booking process,” says CASTLETON. “It's really wonderful to have a site like EIY to help you stay organized and connect with other integrity-based artists.” SATURDAY continues, “My partners and I founded EARNITYOURSELF.COM on
the principal that artists must learn to be self-sufficient while
embracing their community if they hope to forge a long-lasting and
respectable career in music. With both Gavin and me eager to get on the
road to support our new records, this seemed like the perfect
opportunity to put that principal to the test.” Tour co-headliner producer/singer/songwriter GAVIN CASTLETON
is a Portland, OR-based musician who has built his nearly 15-year
career on innovation. He released his 14-song narrative “popera” Home
in February 2009 via Five One Inc. Lead single "Coffeelocks" received
regular airplay on Los Angeles’ influential NPR station KCRW and CASTLETON recorded a live set for the station’s morning show “Morning Becomes Eclectic” in April. Home
details the story of his six-year love affair and its eventual
destruction sequenced in two halves: the first depicts Castleton and
his young lover falling deeply in love, and the second, in which said
lovers are stalked incessantly by a growing population of flesh-eating
zombies, is the story of falling out of love. With the sultry vocals of
Lauren Coleman (of Pebaluna) and the dense orchestration of a 22-piece
band, the album is a soundscape of paramount proportions, even for
Castleton (his last album was a prog-hiphop narrative recounting his
life backwards, from his suicide in 2054 to present day). GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE’s
Sarah Saturday will bring her electronic-tinged ethereal power-pop to
the tour, on the heels of Southern California shows with The Pixies
frontman Black Francis and Jonah Matranga’s (Far, Gratitude)
onelinedrawing. G, NA’s first full length album First LP comes out
later this month digitally and will be available physically at shows.
Recorded in May of 2009 at Chris Walla's (Death Cab For Cutie) Hall of
Justice studio in Portland, OR, the album features all the recorded GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE songs to-date including nine new tracks.
GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE is a collaboration between Sarah
Saturday and producer/engineer Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie,
Tegan and Sara, Sparklehorse) who met in 2003 and recorded what would
be the first GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE demos in Beau's
Madison, WI apartment. Beau and Sarah rejoined forces in 2007 at Butch
Vig's Smart Studios in Madison, WI to record the band’s first official
release: a four-song EP entitled The First EP, which was released in the form of limited edition, numbered CDs with handmade packaging. Bands and fans can get involved with the tour at www.earnityourself.com/tour. BUZZNET.COM AND MACBETH SHOES TOUR CONTEST RUNNING NOW OFFERING FANS THE CHANCE TO SPEND THE DAY WITH EIY FOUNDER & MACBETH ENDORSEE SARAH SATURDAY IN EACH OF THE TOUR’S CITIES
Though GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE began as just a simple recording project for music industry entrepreneur SARAH SATURDAY, the excitement and digital success of THE FIRST EP has fueled the band's first-ever tour, launching March 10 in North Hollywood, California. The trek runs throughout the west coast including stops in Sacramento, Eugene, Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Phoenix and others, wrapping in Barstow, California on March 29. SATURDAY is the founder and creator of the EARN IT YOURSELF philosophy and all-new musician resource networking website EARNITYOURSELF.COM. The site follows the principles of the philosophy—independent artists building their own careers from the ground up and earning each of their own successes—to connect musicians and industry entrepreneurs across the globe. One of the site's features is a "Show Trades" section that allows artists to interact in booking shows and tours, which SARAH utilized exclusively to connect with venues and other bands in each city to build the GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE tour. SATURDAY recently became the first unsigned female artist to be endorsed by MACBETH SHOES and was the inspiration for "The Saturday" girls' shoe, which was part of Macbeth's 2008 Spring/Summer line. To highlight SARAH SATURDAY’s arrival in each of the tour's cities, BUZZNET.COM and MACBETH SHOES have launched a special contest offering fans the opportunity the spend the day with Sarah for a behind-the-scenes look at EIY in action. Each winner will spend the day with Sarah on the tour, will win a slew of prizes including a pair of Macbeth shoes and GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE merchandise, and will have a journal published on Sarah's featured Buzznet.com profile, highlighting the events of the day/night.
