July 4, 2007 - Wednesday

Whew! What a weekend!

Crazy up and down emotional spin, but we got through it and we accomplished what we set out to accomplish almost a year ago to the day.

For those that haven't heard, Project Cosplay screened in front of a standing room only crowd this past Sunday at AX2007. People were actually getting turned away because there just wasn't any more room.

You should have seen the looks on the faces of AX security and staff as the lines kept getting longer and longer and longer. Absolutely priceless.

As we start to go through the video and photos of the screening, I only hope we captured that uneasy look of shock and awe so that we can share it with all of you.

To Tianna, Mike, KY, Lisa, Kitty and Mr. Atwood - thank you so much for hanging out and helping us at the booth Friday and Saturday. Your support and belief in this project means the world.

Thank you to all of the cast that were able to attend. We hope that we made you proud of the time you dedicated to this project. Sean, we missed you at the screening. Hope all is well.

Last though certainly not least, thank you to our friends and family who without their love and support, this project could have never been completed.

Now I feel like I have come to the end of the world's longest traithalon; a Tour de Cosplay if you will. Jody and I have lived with this animal for the past year and although I would love nothing more than several weeks of R&R lounging on some white sandy beach, it will have to wait as there is still much work to be done … perhaps more now than ever.

We're just getting started. New pics and videos will be coming soon so spread the word. The Cosplay Revolution will be televised!

Project Cosplay: Where Anime Meets Reality

Every Anime fan has worn a headband or t-shirt of their favorite Anime character or show, but few have the courage to embrace convention halls wearing homemade costumes of those characters. Even fewer yet have the skill to do it well. For those rare and elite breed of Cosplayers, we salute you! Your time in the spotlight has finally come.

Project Cosplay is the Anime-based reality TV series that showcases world class Cosplayers as they conceive, create, and unveil their costumes for Anime Expo. You'll laugh at the antics and cry for the costume that doesn't get completed as we expose the side of Cosplay that your momma don't talk about! Learn what it takes to become a professional Cosplayer from some of the best in the business.

The show follows four main Cosplayers, each with their own special talent and each a judge at the prestigious Anime Expo Masquerade. Michael is skilled in making weapons, Tianna is a makeup artist, Matt is a jack of all trades and Diana is an expert seamstress and the group's leader. The plan is simple, grab as many friends as possible, including Project Cosplayers Greg and Sean, then live, eat and spew Anime construction for eight solid weeks in preparation for Anime Expo.

Watching costumes being made is entertaining, but learning a few tips along the way is priceless. In a type of assembly line process, Mike creates a sword out of Styrofoam for his costume of the video game character, Donovan (Darkstalkers), while Diana starts making boots out of raw materials and roller blades for her Gum costume (Jet Set Radio). One of the best costumes we have ever seen is Matt's –Sephiroth incarnation; everything from the hair and makeup to the leather jacket and outrageously long sword are meticulously recreated from scratch.

The mix of video game and Anime characters makes you thirst with anticipation to finally see these Cosplayers on stage, in all their glory and in front of a crowd of thousands of screaming Anime fans. Anime Expo is one of the largest Anime conventions on the planet and accordingly, features Cosplayers from around the world that perform in extremely hot weather, wearing many layers of pleather.

Project Cosplay shows you the highlight performances, the judge's top picks and gets you exclusive behind the scenes access at Anime Expo. So get your pen and paper ready so you can write down the latest Anime fashion do's and don'ts as we break down the keys to success and how to win best in show. A little known fact about living the Cosplay lifestyle- all Cosplayers have a Cosplay war story to tell.

Project Cosplay TV

For those of you who have ever tried to create a costume or have thought about joining a team of Cosplayers, this is the show that you've been waiting for. Project Cosplay is the Anime-based reality TV show about cramming as many Cosplayers as possible into one house for eight weeks to create costumes for Anime Expo.

We journey through the various stages of costume creation while learning some insightful tips and techniques from professional Cosplayers. See what happens when construction goes wrong and deadlines get closer.  We'll also take you back stage for an exclusive look behind the scenes at the judging process leading up to the prestigious Anime Expo Masquerade.

Mike Wijenayake

Height 5'10" | Blood Type A

The playboy of the bunch, Mike is up for anything. Little do people know, he has a twin brother and they often end up competing against each other for the same girl. Mike specializes in using mechanical tools and loves making weapons … a lot weapons. An avid marathon runner, he has all the stamina he needs to continue his quest to horrendously mack on women.

Tianna Atwood

Height 5'3" | Blood Type A

This blonde cutie is no joke. How many girls do you know can pick their nose on television and still look hot? Not many! She's a makeup artist by trade and specializes in blood squirts, open wounds, missing limbs and anything else maggot infested. Tianna hates Dragon Ball Z… because Mike likes it. Enough said!

Diana Tolin

Height 5'3" | Blood Type A

She's the Anime chick that demands respect. Plays guitar, speaks Japanese and is the embodiment of an Anime fanatic. For this multi-talented heroine, sewing, stitching, and hot glue gunning her fingers together while looking cute is all part the job. Definitely the most serious of the group, her strong leadership and drop kicks keep everyone in check and costume production on schedule.

Matt Miller

Height 5'9" | Blood Type A

Don't let this soft spoken rocker fool you. He's got an affinity for bad ass Bishoujin characters and the skills to back it up. Everything he touches turns to gold, from voice acting to sewing like a man possessed. His specialties are ridiculously huge swords and wigs that could probably poke your eye out.
