Merry Christmas One & All!,

A huge thanks to everyone that has helped make 2009 such a terrific year for our favourite Rockin' minx.
And what a year; Winning best female singer at The Meteor Awards in Ireland, Love Tattoo reaching the prestigious number 1 slot on the Irish album charts, touring the US and Europe, appearing on numerous TV and Radio shows, having both her singles reach the BBC Radio 2 A list, supporting Chuck Berry at BB King's club, recording with Sharon Shannon, gracing the cover of the superb Hot Press December issue....
Phew.

Here's the news: Imelda's new CD (Mayhem) is all recorded and will be mixed in January by Imelda and the hugely talented Andy Wright. Not sure on a release date, but hopefully not too long after it should be out. Some of the new songs are already being gigged and they sound fantastic...

Imelda, as many of you know, has a collapsed disc in her back and an operation might be needed in the new year. Thanks to all of you writing in to express your kind thoughts on the matter and for the well wishing. It has all been passed on and deeply appreciated.

On December 22nd in Dublin's O2, Imelda plus support from the brilliant Jerry Fish will play one night for a Christmas bash that promises to be truly magnificent. There will be a surprise guest and plenty of rockin' mayhem. Imelda and Jerry will be appearing on Ireland's top chat show, The Late Late Show tonight.

News for 2010 so far: Plenty of work in the US, we're pleased to announce. Imelda made quite a splash recently appearing on NPR Radio and sales of Love Tattoo rocketed. Brian Setzer asked Imelda to support him on his famed Christmas tour this year, but due to unfortunate circumstances Imelda couldn't partake. However, Brian's wonderful gesture of posting petitions on his various websites truly lifted spirits and here's hoping that the two will meet and work together next year. Imelda is a huge fan of Brian and the Stray Cats and counts Cats drummer, the legendary Slim Jim Phantom as a very dear friend through work he has done with her husband, Darrel.
Also, tours of Australia, Japan, Spain, Holland and Germany are tentatively pencilled in to a diary that is likely to burst at the seams next year.

Imelda wishes you all a wonderful Christmas and New Year and would like to take this opportunity for thanking all of you for your terrific loyal support this year.

On it's 21st week in the Irish charts - most of that time in the top ten - Love Tattoo has finally reached the coveted Number One position.
Last Friday a special double CD edition of the album was released in Ireland that included a number of songs recorded live in Exeter earlier this year.
Imelda and the gang have arrived back after playing two sold out shows at Dublin's prestigious Vicar Street venue.
Imelda and the gang are absolutely over the moon, as you'd expect, and would like to thank everyone that has bought the CD and supported them on the shows.
The new CD, Mayhem, is likely to be released sometime in late September. Imelda's record company, Universal Classics & Jazz - or UCJ, as it was known - has had a name change. It now uses the old British label name of Decca Records - the famous old company that first introduced the world to Billy Fury, one of Imelda's favourite singers! Needless to say, she's thrilled.

Imelda will be appearing on the Bank Holiday Monday (April 13th) edition of ITV's Loose Women. She'll be singing Johnny Got A Boom Boom and it will be the last song played on the show.

I believe April 13th is the date for the new re-mix of Big Bad Handsome Man to hit the itune and amazon.co.uk stores for download.
I don't think it will be released as an actual physical single, which is a real shame, and as a lot of people have asked in the past, it's highly unlikely to come out on vinyl, either.
So, BBHM will be released as a download-only single. It has had a make-over and like Johnny Got A Boom Boom before, it will be quite a bit different from the original version on Love Tattoo.
BBHM is already on the BBC Radio 2 'C' playlist and was played yesterday by Steve Wright. Chris Evans also featured the release on his Jukebox Jury segment last week and it was voted a 'hit'! Good on you, Sir Chris - you have extraordinarily great taste.

Imelda was crowned Best Irish Female singer at last night's prestigious Meteor Awards in Dublin.
At a star-studded event, Imelda performed Johnny Got A Boom Boom after accepting her award. Also performing were Sharon Shannon, Camille O' Sullivan, The Stereophonics and Elbow.
It must be pointed out that this was based on a public vote, so a HUGE thank-you to Imelda's Irish fans for making this happen.

Congratulations, Imelda!

Imelda May has been forced to postpone tonight's sold out show at Mr Kyps in Poole, along with Friday at Leicester Y Theatre and Saturday at Northumbria University in Newcastle. Her voice was damaged due to faulty equipment at a previous venue and although she insisted on fulfilling her commitment last night at the Komedia in Bath, she has been advised by the throat specialist at the ENT department of the Bath Clinic to cancel these forthcoming shows to avoid further damage. Imelda is bitterly disappointed to let anyone down but she obviously needs to protect her voice for the future. She is intending to resume the tour in Nottingham on Monday 2nd March.

Indeed it has.... Love Tattoo has earned a gold disc in Ireland, and is still in the top ten CD charts after peaking at number 5.
Imelda would like to say a huge Thank You to all for the lovely messages and words of encouragement. The sheer volume of messages means it's going to be virtually impossible to reply to all, and as she's away on tour until the middle of March it makes it all the more difficult to find time to get to a computer.
However, all messages are passed on and she'll do her best to reply.
You're a lovely lot.
