All good thingz must come to an end, & alas, the time has come to say goodbye to our very fave jam, Randomland. Circa Randomland’s magic home for almost to years, has undergone a recent change in ownership & the new powers that be desire for Circa to be more inline with the conventional Club District vibe, and so Fridaze @ Circa is now Toronto’s Ultimate Urban Experience instead of Randomland. Randomland was a super special party for so many people, and so many people helped to make it BANANAS, from all the people who worked with on it with us during its run (over 150 throughout!), to all the people who came every friday (over 150 000 all together!). It was such a one of a kind, super fun time filled with so many epic memories. For us, it was more of an interactive art project then a club night, and now it's time for the finale. It was a time that will never happen again, and we wanted 2 celebrate the bomb, out of control energy of Randomland one last time in a super true to Randomland way. Although we can’t do it @ Circa due to the sudden changes, we have chosen the Mod Club, which is where we had many crazy parties for years before we started Randomland @ Circa. RL Djs A.D/D.,Barbi, Andy Ares, Vaneska + Foulhouse will be blowing up the dance floor 4 a last random dance, and Randomland’s signature colourful atmosphere will be revived one more time, so we can have a proper closing party for our favorite night as well as say thank you to everyone who helped to make it so insane & take it way beyond the limits of BOMB. Click on the link below for some snapshot highlights of almost 2 years of Randomland.

Extra special thanks to the whole team who worked on it and helped out. Also, thanks to all the sponsors and press and the staff of Circa.

Best event promoter
AD/D

They consistently bring in the top talent from the edgier end of dance music along with artists who are just breaking out, and their profile has shot up even higher due to their involvement with much-hyped nightclub Circa in what seems to be a perfect fit.

It's Sunday night, at around 9:30 or so, and my friends and I are outside the Mod Club, primed and cocked for the A.D/D-produced Dafter Party. Only problem is, we're too early.

I'd heard all kinds of hearsay surrounding the event, rumors about "limited capacity" and tickets being sold out; enough to chill the heart and balls of anyone who really wanted to go.

And I really wanted to go.

NOW MAGAZINE:

2006's best concerts weren't given by the usual suspects. Granted, sudden Brazilian buzzkids CSS topped our list, and Brit stadium-fillers Bloc Party didn't disappoint, but for the most part the shows that stood out featured underrated artists. Maybe Pete Townshend was right - why shell out to see aging dinosaurs when you can catch some of the best shit in the world on tiny rock club stages?

1 CSS, DIPLO, BONDE DO ROLE (Mod Club Theatre, July 14)
Brazilian electro-punks CSS brought an energy to their live performance that had only been hinted at in recordings, immediately justifying the hype and their deal with Sub Pop. Philly-based DJ Diplo's set kept the partying going into the wee hours with an eclectic collage of flavours.

Benjamin Boles's Top 10 Parties

When you're looking for a party, it's nice to have a trusted name behind it. The days of the big-name DJ are over, so knowing who's behind the best nights can make your choice a lot easier.

1. A.D/D.
Since exploding onto the scene two years ago, A.D/D. have emerged as the top dogs for all that's new and hyped-up in dance music. If it was big and had something to do with electro/rock/house/mash-ups, it was probably their doing. Along with their own events, they've also brought touring international parties like Return To New York and Club Filth to town, and over the past year booked heavyweights like 2 Many DJs , LCD Soundsystem and Diplo.
