Selling one million copies in its first year, the premier album, A Very Special Christmas,  and the subsequent albums in the series, have generated more than $l00 million for Special Olympics, the most ever raised by a benefit recording series.  Disbursed in grants by the Special Olympics Christmas Records Trust, the monies raised each year by the albums/CDs/DVDs play a crucial role in the lives of the least-advantaged Special Olympics athletes around the world where there are inaccurate and prejudiced views about people with intellectual disabilities.  ....

JO DEE MESSINA

ADDS ADDITIONAL SHOW
DECEMBER 5 IN NASHVILLE
DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND

ALL PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT HARVEST HANDS

Multi-platinum country singer-songwriter JO DEE MESSINA has just announced she will add a matinee show December 5 from at 4:00 PM at Brentwood United Methodist Church to raise funds for Harvest Hands Community Development Corporation (CDC), a non-profit, faith-based organization in South Nashville.
JO DEE’s 7:00 PM show “sold out” with all 1800 free tickets claimed.  The church and Harvest Hands subsequently received immediate inquiries as to whether more tickets would become available.  JO DEE graciously agreed to another show with hopes to raise twice as much money for the organization.  Tickets for the matinee show are available now free-of-charge at http://www.jodeemessina.com/tickets. Concert-goers are asked to donate a “love offering” for this incredible cause.
"Harvest Hands is truly an amazing organization,” says JO DEE.  “It is currently taking the inner city of Nashville and is changing it one life at a time with educating, kindness and love.  To go down and actually see how they are making a difference has touched me."
In an interview with Tonic.com, JO DEE said: "This is not something where they go in from 9 to 5 and then go back to their house in the hills.  He (Reverend Brian Hicks) and his wife live there, in the inner city. They went into this community and said, 'What do you need from us?’ The first thing they did was go in and knock down a crack house. The church bought it, went in, knocked it down and made a playground out of it. This is not people throwing money at a problem; they're living in the midst of it and helping with their time and their love and understanding." To read the whole interview, go here: http://www.tonic.com/article/country-star-jo-dee-messina-concert-for-harvest-hands/.
JO DEE will perform--along with the BUMC youth and children’s choirs--a wide array of songs from her 2002 Christmas album A Joyful Noise, other holiday classics and music from her next album, including the upcoming single “That’s God.”

LANCE SMITH AND CMT PART WAYS AFTER 400 EPISODES

After Nearly a Decade CMT’s Weekly Top 20 Countdown Host Moves On

NASHVILLE, TN (November 23, 2009)– Nashville native Lance Smith has proudly hosted CMT’s Top 20 Countdown for nearly a decade since joining CMT in 2001 as the network's first VJ. The most recognizable on-air representative of the network, Smith has been present at all major industry functions during his tenure, including the CMA Awards, ACM Awards, Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, as well as all of the CMT Music Awards broadcasts.  However, as all good things come to an end, Smith has decided to end his relationship with the network in search of new creative endeavors.

Since the beginning, Smith has logged countless hours on camera and hosted dozens of different shows and specials.  But it was CMT’s weekly Top 20 Countdown where he settled in, hosting over 400 episodes, missing only three over the course of eight years.  Over his time there he has been fortunate to meet and interview some of today’s biggest celebrities and personalities—from red carpets to Super Bowls, from sitcom sets to concerts across the country.

Smith states, “I’ll continue to pursue a place in front of a mic or camera, but it will be under a different set of lights.”  Smith continues, “Once upon a time, before my decade long stint as a host, I was an actor and it’s time to wear that hat once again. I will forever be grateful for every chance and opportunity given to me by CMT and Country Music.  There’s not a better fan base in the world.  But most of all I will miss the crews—my friends behind the scenes.  It’s the show behind the curtain that I was most fortunate to see.”

"Growing up before our viewers' eyes, Lance has developed remarkable versatility -- sly humor, perfect timing, strong relationships with our stars, and the ability to gracefully handle everything we've thrown at him!," says Brian Philips, president, CMT.  "He leaves Top 20 at the height of its biggest ratings streak ever, and his shoes will be hard to fill.  We applaud his ambition, and look forward to the next great phase of Lance's career.  His extended family at CMT and MTV Networks thank him for his terrific run."

Smith is currently working on an independent film being shot around the Nashville area. While film and television acting roles are currently being pursued, Smith will continue to further his hosting career as well.

RECKLESS KELLY PROVES THE ‘BEST FOREVER YET,’ IS YET TO COME

NASHVILLE, TN –Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 – Reckless Kelly is pleased to announce the release of Somewhere in Time on February 9, 2010 via Yep Roc Records. On their third self-produced record, the band returns to its roots incorporating the "hardcore cowboy songs" of legend and fellow Idaho native, Pinto Bennett.

“While this is Pinto’s material, this is very much a Reckless Kelly record,” explains vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Cody Braun.  “It’s simply a bunch of great songs we wanted people to hear.” His brother Willy Braun continues, “I think this time we did again what we always set out to do which is to make a record we can be proud of.”

Somewhere in Time is filled with songs that have special meaning to Willy and Cody Braun, who grew up on the music of the Famous Motel Cowboys and the timeless lyrics of Pinto Bennett.  Pinto was an inspiration to Willy, Cody and the band in many ways, musically and otherwise, and they felt it was time to recognize Pinto’s music while making the material very much their own. Along with bandmates, David Abeyta on lead guitar who co-produced the album, Jay Nazz on drums, and Chris Schelske on bass, Reckless Kelly explores their country influences and introduces Bennett's music to a new generation of fans while placing their indelible, rock-edged stamp on it.

Debut single, “Best Forever Yet,” will be released to radio in early 2010.  The single speaks of the complicated heartache associated with losing love that wasn't right but there hasn't been better:

I use to think that yesterday we knew how to spend the time
Then I found out it was her way of killing hers and wasting mine
I know that I should tell her all her tears are gonna get her is wet
But you know I can’t cause she’s the best forever yet

Thus, showing Pinto’s lyrics resonate over time and across gender lines and genres.

This release follows the success of 2008’s Bulletproof which broke into the Billboard 200 and crested in the top 25 on the Billboard Country Albums chart Reckless Kelly’s biggest seller. It also contains their first #1 radio hit “Ragged as the Road,” (Texas and AMA charts) and earned them a nomination as Best Band or Duo at the 2009 Americana Music Awards.

For more information on the band and tour schedule, please visit www.recklesskelly.com.  Press materials and streaming audio for the forthcoming single, "Best Forever Yet," available by visiting www.reverbnation.com/recklesskelly.

FLYSONGS MUSIC HOSTS NASHVILLE LAUNCH PARTY ON DECEMBER 3

NASHVILLE, TENN. (November 23, 2009)-- FlySongs, a new company representing Southern songs to the film and television industry, will host the first in a series of launch parties on Thursday, December 3, at 7:00 p.m. at Nashville’s Blue Bar (1911 Broadway). Come celebrate cinema and song with FlySongs!

FlySongs specializes in the music of Texas, Tennessee and Louisiana, representing both publishing entities and individual songwriters in placing compositions in movies, television specials, soundtracks, primetime and cable series, video releases, and commercials.

“We have spent our energies developing deep production and film industry contacts,” says company founder Sandra Fox. “We have established solid relationships in Hollywood, and in the national film community, and are using those connections to expand and enhance this music we love. There is a wealth of opportunity, but success demands immediate response. Filmmakers very often phone to say they need a specific type song for a project and, especially when dealing with television, they need it now! Our job is to quickly and expertly provide those songs.”

Sandra Fox has worked in the music business for the past 25 years. She spent 15 years in Nashville working for MCA Publishing, EMI-Tower Street Publishing, Mercury Records, Emerald/ Masterfonics Studios and Big Picture Entertainment.

“I was fortunate to have been mentored by two of the best in the business, Gary Smith and Keith Stegall,” Sandra says. “The next step for me was a logical one, to open my own company and to represent the best songs available. I was born in Louisiana, raised in Texas and learned about the music industry in Tennessee. That’s where FlySongs will look for the music we present to filmmakers.”

Scott Weiland, lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, and Duff McKagen of Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver joined Wilson and his band on stage for a rollicking rendition of “Honky Tonk Women.” Weiland signed Wilson to his Softdrive Records label there at the Second Fiddle at the end of the evening. Wilson has since signed a music publishing deal with Better Angels Music.
The song was written by Duane Hitchings, Don Goodman, and Amy Jack. Hitchings co-penned and played keyboard on four of Rod Stewart’s hits including “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” “Young Turks,” “Infatuation,” and “Crazy ‘Bout Her.” He has performed and written with Heart, Eddie Money, Kim Carnes, Pat Benatar, Steve Perry, Alice Cooper, and Dennis Edwards of the Temptations. Hitchings received a Grammy award with Kim Carnes and Craig Krampf for the ballad track “I’ll Be Here Where The Heart Is” from the movie “Flashdance.” Among Goodman’s string of hits are “Ol’ Red” (Blake Shelton), “Angels Among Us” (Alabama), “Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands” (Lee Greenwood/Reba McEntire), and “Feelins’ (Conway Twitty/Loretta Lynn). He has written songs for Stewart, Benatar, Cooper, TLC, Faith Hill, Brooks & Dunn, and George Strait. Nashville-based singer/songwriter Jack hails from Oklahoma, the state that delivered Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Bryan White, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, and Toby Keith. She is currently focusing on material for her own 2010 CD release, and is owner of the Jack Of All Trades record label in Nashville.

Timing means everything to a hit song” notes Jack. “‘Overdrawn Over Christmas’ is suitably timed for the season and the condition of our economy. It’s a light-hearted look at the otherwise dim economic situation that we’re all experiencing right now. I hope this song brings a moment of laughter to everyone who hears it.”

Fresh off an appearance on FOX News’ Strategy Room, Cleveland-based singer-songwriter John Chaffee, a.k.a. “Uncle Sam,” was honored with the Best Country Song award for his politically charged anthem “Play By The Rules” at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards on November 19 at The Highlands in the world famous Hollywood & Highland/Kodak Theater complex.....

.. ..

Chaffee was presented the award by Nevada Entertainer of the Year and master musical impressionist Greg London, who was also a winner that night for Best Adult Contemporary Song for his hit single “Everything I Own.”....

.. ..

The “Play By The Rules” song and video concept grew out of his growing anger over a daily dose of stories of corruption and scandal, not only in our nation’s capital but also in communities across the country. ....

.. ..

The colorful and irresistible video features Chaffee, a dead ringer for “Uncle Sam,” in red, white and blue garb singing as he walks through colorful but decadent urban landscapes including junkyards that work perfectly as a metaphorical backdrop for his pointed plea of a chorus: “Cut me in, bail me out, failure’s not my fault/Responsibility, what’s that, just a word that’s all/I’m trying very hard, to chill and keep my cool/I’m trying hard to find someone, who’ll just play by the rules/Is there anybody out there, who’ll just play by the rules.”....
