The holiday season is upon us and what better gift for a Browncoat or Browncoat-to-Be than a little gift that supports charity!  Head over to Whedon Wares: The Browncoat Store and stock up on gifts and stocking stuffers for the Browncoats in your life.  We have Sereniteas to titillate the taste buds and a variety of popular Serenity and other fandom t-shirts for the geek savvy. Friends and family will look quite cunning in Jayne hats knitted by our very own Ma Cobb.  You can even grab one for yourself while you’re visiting!

So visit www.whedonwares.com for these shiny goodies and much more.  Make Whedon Wares: The Browncoat Store the one stop shop for all your Browncoat holiday shopping needs.  Proceeds from every sale will support our championed charities.

Take Action to End Early Marriage in Yemen

Equality Now has just issued Women’s Action 34.1 — Yemen: End early marriages through enactment of a law enforcing a minimum age of marriage. Research shows that up to 50% of girls in Yemen are married before they are 18.   Despite the negative physical, emotional, psychological, intellectual and sexual implications of child marriage on girls, the Yemeni government has failed to take effective steps to prevent such marriages.  The campaign calls upon the Yemeni government to end early marriages by enacting and effectively enforcing a law establishing 18 years as the minimum age of marriage.

For Women’s Action 34.1 please click on the following link: Women’s Action 34.1

We hope that you will support this and our other Women’s Action campaigns.

Armed and ready! We all know someone who either has diabetes or has a close friend or relative with diabetes. Diabetes affects us all, which means we all need to work together to find a cure.

Austin Browncoat Chairperson Beth Nelson will be participating in the 2009 Step Out Diabetes Walk for the American Diabetes Association. On November 14th, 2009, she will be walking as a member of team "Terminate Diabetes", and Austin Browncoats will match every donation made towards Beth's total. We work to end violence and discrimination worldwide by supporting charities like The American Diabetes Association in their goal to educate people about diabetes and give a voice to those denied their rights because of their condition.

So visit Beth's donation page: http://www.austinbrowncoats.com/stepout, make a donation, and Austin Browncoats will match it.

Together we can Terminate Diabetes. One Step at a Time.
