Good day to you, We will be playing our last gig for a while this coming Monday at Nambucca on Holloway Road, on stage at 8:45pm. Entry £3 with flyer! We will be taking a couple of months off to complete work on new material and begin the next phase of recording (god help us) in the slow build up to completing our debut album. For those who havent seen our last few shows, we will be playing 30 mins of old and new material, and those who have.. you know you love it so come again why dont you! ;-) Nambucca is a cool venue, situated halfway between Holloway Rd and Archway tube stations, so easy access and pretty local to all of you in the NW plus its only £3 in with a flyer! Hope to see you down there.

Its that time of year again to get yer rock climbing shoes on and come see SHRUGGED play a headline 45 minute set at Kings Cross prestigious Water Rats Theatre on Sunday 30th April. Yes, its a bank holiday weekend which means.NO WORK the next day which meansyou can stay out late which means..we would like to drag you out afterwards for celebratory drinks and general social activity in the local area. (Any plausible reasons for celebration or suggestions for good pubs are welcome).

Current mood: indifferent
Its probably safe to say that no-one is ever gonna read this anyway cos we just dont seem to have the kind of fans who do the whole blog 'thing' which is a shame cos blogs are cool and other bands are having riots on theirs. This said, plus the fact that I am at work and dont have time to think about (or double check) what I am writing means that I can say what the fuck I want without worry which should be the case anyway, but you always wonder about the influence that huuuuge underground bands like us have on the youth of today and i would therefore not want to think that we are helping such youth learn naughty words like celine dion or masticate which i dare not mention.
back on track.....what do shrugged have in the pipeline? well, after a month or so break cos of easter pilgrimages to egypt, israel and wales we are now ready to kick ass again with a 20 min set at a Kensington all girls high school followed by a headline slot at the waterats in kings x on the 30th. Personally, i think all girls schools are the way forward especially as I was never allowed to attend one. as a youngster the education board considered my maleness an obstacle in my fight for an all girls education. Well rock n roll belongs with girls and synchronised swimming lives in the hearts of boys (and sheep - something i learned in wales) and the rest is all futuristic history.
thanks for listening.

New songs, a brand, spanking new EP for sale, a great venue and a big turn out - this night was destined for success!!
I'm afraid that the afterparty and subsequent after-afterparty has somewhat left me with vague memories of the night but what I can remember is an empty room 5 mins before we were due on stage, and then a miraculously packed (well one must embellish from time to time) room as we entered into the crowd-favourite 'June'.
This was possibly our strongest set to date. Procedings began with 'The Ball', 'June' and 'Smile', then the new funk-rock hit 'Got In a Fight', mellowing out into Stars, and ending with 'Tattooed Heart' and 'Fire' to deliver the final blow.
The gig seemed over before it started. Always a good sign! No Shrugged gig has ever run so smoothly - I even remembered my fx pedal board which is unheard of, plus we had mailing lists, a spare guitar and we were there early!! Not a good sign in rock'n'roll. The on stage sound was great and apparently the sound out front was perfect too. There's something about having such a comfortable on stage experience though that dulls the energy levels a little bit but nevertheless we played well and the response seemed good.
Post gig activities took place at The Hope and Anchor pub on Upper Street where Shrugged's extended family gathered - the drinks were plentiful and the famous yellow shopping basket containing the limited edition "3" ep CDs was slowly emptied! One person genuinely thought we were selling sandwiches but through some tough hard-sell teqniques I was able to convince him that the CDs were edible and he went home happy, CD in hand, £4 lighter!!
Exactly what followed is somewhat blurry (and partly undisclosable) but it ended up about 7pm the following night sipping Guinness in a pub somewhere in Kentish Town until sleep could be ignored no longer.
Must do it again sometime........
Yours recoveringly,
Tobi x

Just thought I'd stick in a few thoughts about the gig last week...
This gig was quite a surprising one. When we initially booked it, we figured no one we know would go to East London for a gig, especially when the place is relatively unknown. And indeed, all people I spoke to didn't even consider it (lazy north Londoners). Since we haven't been to or heard of this place, we figured it is going to be somber kinda pub gig.
So all in all, no pressure whatsoever, no one is gonna come, the place is gonna suck and we'll probably play badly since we haven't had a lot of practice...surprise surprise...when we got there it proved to be a lovely organized place...we even got free water (I know, not much to boast about, but still..).
Omri was very hungry and kept popping out next door to Nandos while we were sound checking, after which we all ended up in the restaurant listening to him bitch about the chips (rightfully so, it was awful).
A lot of people we haven't seen in a while started showing up and the gig started.,,I must admit that it was probably our most enjoyable gig to date. Some time around the third song, things just fell into place...the sound and energy on stage just started happening...dunno how it was for the audience, but we really had a great time...
So just wanted to thank all the people who braved the cold and the tube ride and came to support us...
Cheers
Ohad
