Hey everyone! Southpaw's new CD is here: Southpaw Isle Steelband Live in Concert Featuring Dr. Prof. Leonard King : The Music of Astor Piazzolla Plus 5. We decided against the longer title. Haha, just kidding. It features six tangos by Brazilian composer Astor Piazzolla, and five tunes by five different jazz composers. Southpaw is the only steel band playing this kind of music, so it's very exciting! We're having a CD release concert at Cliff Bell's in Detroit on June 13th at 9:30 p.m. Cover is only $6, which is pretty darn cheap nowadays! I'll send out an event invitation as we get closer to the date of the show. Meanwhile, check out our songs and drop us a line!

...to post the first Southpaw blog, seeing as how I've been promoted to manager of the group. I have to make sure I earn this healthy paycheck ;)! Well, we're getting ready to head to New York for the APAP Conference the weekend of January 12th. We're looking forward to a fun, if not crazy, weekend. What I'm not looking forward to is the long drive, but hopefully the weather on the road will be good to us! We'll be on the road again in February when we drive to Indiana (more on that in the next blog, I promise!). We're also in production on a live CD of our October 6th, 2007 concert at Oakland University. I will definitely let you know when that is done! Until then...--> Happy new year. :)
