Sept. 4th, 2009 on QuietColor.com:
"Last night I went to one of the more remarkable shows I’ve seen in quite a while. Elizabeth and The Catapult were headlining The Music Hall of Williamsburg, but I had a keen interest in catching opener Jeff Taylor
who I’d been hearing great things about. I walked in a few songs into
his set and was able to witness a guy who is very fucking serious about
his musicianship - that was clear. However, Jeff was also able to
connect and communicate with the audience, who was lapping it up. His
stage presence is eccentric to say the least and as he beat boxed and
gyrated all about, it was hard to take my eyes of his long and lanky
frame. And that voice is magnificently intense, like something birthed
from a Tom Waits, Johnny Depp and Beck threesome.
His songs burn slowly and are accentuated by his live
performance. He has a fresh take and delivers his music with genuine
sentiment. The song “Heart Hard” is only one minute and thirty seconds,
but when he played it solo last night, the music hall went frozen as
the audience watched in awe. Fucking amazing.
Jeff joined (Elizabeth & The Catapult) onstage a couple of times, but most notable
was “John The Rabbit,” to which he added layers and gave the song a
whole other dimension. By the end of the show, I was thinking that
maybe the two could join forces and do a side project soon. No need I
guess, as both these bands are well on their way to commer(c)ial success."

I was unexpectedly kidnapped by some creeps in a white, unmarked van. On a long, terrifying, blindfolded drive to Austin, TX, the occupants of the van implanted some bass lines in my brain and slid a thumb pick onto my right hand. The above link leads to video evidence of the abduction and subsequent, progressively rocking performances of the kidnappers' rock band, their prized captive (yours truly) alongside them, laying down sweet low end.

We've played some fun shows lately. Thanks for coming out and supporting us. Lots of music has been recorded in the studio, too. Someday soon, there will be a release on Rockwood Music Hall Records. With a little magic and a lot of patience, anything's possible.
Brooklyn has been good to me, so the next time you're in town, treat her well, eh?
I'll be sitting in on my friends' 10pm record-release show at Joe's Pub this Thursday, June 11th. So go scalp yourself some sold out Elizabeth&TheCataTix™ and come on down.
My band's next show is Thursday, June 17th at Rose in Brooklyn.
Tryin Not to Try, Jeff

Hi.
I'm on the road from Thomas, West Virginia to Nashville, Tennessee. Before this trip out, I'd never visited either of those cities.
Last night, we played The Purple Fiddle in Thomas. The town was beautiful (except for howling winds and accompanying ice storm) and the people were welcoming and accommodating.
We thought we'd be slick; get up at 5am, load out, and make the trip to Nashville with time to spare.
Instead we ended up driving about 200 feet, nearly jack knifing the van/trailer combo on a steep, icy hill, and sliding around in shoes made for anything but Winter terrain.
After some conferring amongst various members of the Spring Standards and tour manager Mike Viotti, we executed an all-hands-on-deck unhitching of the trailer. Our fingers, toes, and bones chilled to the core, we were then able to get the van on more even ground, reattach the trailer and make tracks to Tennessee.
All's well, now. We're doing about 76 mph on 265 West, about 2 hours outside of Nashville. Photos and videos from the tour to follow.
Yours Always, jeff

All- Whoa... Last night was crazy. We played 205 Christie on Thursday. Equipment was flying around the stage, I knocked myself in the forehead with my telecaster, started bleeding... I may have had a couple too many.... Blurrrrrr........ ----------- Hope you had a good time if you were out in the audience; it was a blast up on stage. Had lots of fun with 'Progress,' a new song where I get to stomp around on effects pedals. Thanks for supporting, see you at Rockwood on Saturday for an 11pm show! Yours, Jeff p.s.- recommendation for tonight (Friday) - Go watch Jupiter One at The Delancey and Semi-Precious Weapons at The Highline.
