With the recent news of Mark's Departure from the band
thought we'd drop a line to say whats going on now

Mark flat our refused his one chance to say goodbye not play a last show or see out the rest of the year.
So we have enlisted the help of our good friend Mark Gilmore from Geelong Band
Driveby Epic, They're in our top friends check em out!!!
He will be  helping us out on our up coming shows at the end of the year.
Mark is a great performer and its awesome to have him be part of our band for a short time.

We will still be going ahead with our recording session,
We will be recording 2 songs
One titled 'one foot in the grave' and the other is a sequel to one of our other songs.
(Yes we have ripped off metallica with the who unforgiven I,II & III)

as of now we are on the hunt for a new bassist and a 2nd Guitarist
which we will be taking our time with to make sure we get the right people

Aswell Adam Will & I well be working on lots of new material,
which we plan for an album......... so we will be in no way slowing down!!!
But shows might be slow for the time being.

So Make sure you get to our upcoming shows and give us some inspiration to work with
When we hit the rehearsal room.

Stay true Stay rock
Matthew, Adam and Will.

Tonight We were all informed that Mark has decided to step down from October Powder.

Mark has come to a decision that October powder isn't the right band for him anymore.
Mark had been our longest serving member behind original members Adam and matthew.

We like to thank mark for his contrubution to the October powder story
and we wish him all the best for his future plans..

We'll have more info at where we are at during the week.

Hey Everyone,

So over the past couple of weeks we have mentioned in our status updates and on our twitter that October powder are going on Hiatus,

I'm at a point where I personally(Matt) need to step back from A band situation and take some time to do music for myself ( No I'm not going solo either) but to tune up my skills as a musician and a songwriter ....... i'd like to say closed for "maintainance"

but its been 4 years since Adam & myself start kicking around in this band, and we haven't had much time off (Well Adam did when he quit the band for 9 months hahaha)
But sometimes circumstances in our personal lives take there toll on what you can give to a band aswell. For the last 6 months my time has been entirely consumed by My work & October powder, so another way of looking at it is "long serivce leave"

And aside from the Maintainance We have been playing a show virtally once a week.
and for last couple of months I havent been enjoying myself as much as I use to on stage (Except last night @ Epping was probably one  of the most fun times on stage in 2009 for me) so need to recharge to get that excitement back for the live show.

I could go on how hard it is to be in a band blah blah blah you don't really need know all reason behind my time out,
But let me assure you that it is the best thing for the Sake of October powder,

like I mentioned before some time to myself to work on songwriting will do the world of good for us.
I can't give an exact time frame when it will end, it could be 3-6 months I could turn around in 3 weeks time and say "ah fuck it i miss it too much"
And I also wouldnt rule out Us popping up and doing the Odd show(depending on the amornmity* of it)

And one last but very important piece of info WE ARE NOT BREAKING UP!

So anyway we still be doing OP things from time to time behind the scenes
we'll always be checking this page and our other "social networking" accounts

So from All of us
Stay true stay rock
Matthew,Adam,Mark & William.

On a warm friday night 25th November 1996 as a 11 year old boy I was one of 72,000 people who attended an event @ the MCG.

Before I entered the Stadium I had no musical aspiration or anything of the performing kind whatsoever. like any kid i like video games and Footy.

From the 1st moments when lights went out, and most Heart stopping roar you could ever hear and feel which scared the living daylights out of me.

THEN THE BIGGEST BANG I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE all The MCG lit up by the fireworks, the stage lights, come on there in the middle of the stage a space shuttle caplase, POW the DOOR SWINGS OPEN, with a A extremely Bright light. with thesilloutte of a man in a gold suit and a helment...........................Michael Jackson.

the next 2 hours would change my life forever, by the end of that concert something had been woken up inside me and knew from that moment, what I wouldnt to do with my life.

Over the years I have been influenced by many different styles of music and seen some of the biggiest bands in the world perform U2, Robbie williams etc Countless festivals, club gigs and arena shows, but nothing will ever been like Michael It always came back to Michael.
Most of you who know me well, Are well aware that Queen are my all time favourite group but I never got to see them in concert, and I will never get feeeling from them
that comes from seeing your favourite band/singer

His music it self is timeless beyound  all other except maybe for The likes of Beatle Elivs & queen, You could find your self in the middle of jungle in The republic of Congo and here a michael Jackson song on the radio,
he had that appeal to cross over to the Eastern world/3rd world countries. which few artists in history can do.

Some of you will never understand the grief/sadness that his Fans such as myself are feeling right now. I bet even my band mates will not get what I feel right now

his music has saved/inspired or been the back ground to so many memorable moments in peoples lives its impossible to comprehend the impact Michael had on the world. especially to someone like me who dreams and ambition in life stems from him.

I can not even begin how strange i feel that its all a hoax,
and as i listen to his in the background i feel sick and choke up that he will never get the chance to share with the world his enormous talent.

its probably the biggest death in music since John Lennon.
It sadly seems the natural order of things is  that all the greatests die young.........

greetings everyone
so we have finally surrendered to the false pressure and decided to write a blog. So what have we been up to none of you are wondering, well your going to find out anyway.

1stly we have began writing on the follow up to headed for catastrophe, we got roughly 5-6 songs in the works, the sound can be best described as GAY!

with working titles (and this is serious at this stage) such as:
"the gay song"
"cos i'm matt and i'm gay"
"the one with the gay riff"
i can also reveal that we have written a sequel to one of our old songs but will keep that under our hats for now, but all in all the new stuff is sounding great and is by far our best material yet!

So behind the scenes we been busy boys which brings me to my next point. We have a stack of massive shows coming up with some awesome bands so check out our gig section and make plans to rock out with us.
Also we are planning a show in late july that we plan on filming with of your favourite local bands so watch out for that,

also next month OP's very Mark stephens is saying goodbye to youthhood and is turning 21 were not playing but come down and party with us and enjoy melbourne's newest and coolest cover band W.R.O.B playing heaps of punk/rock classics.

Hello Everyone
1stly
wanna take the time to thank everyone who came out to our shows, on what can only be described as the most harrowing Weekend in the history of Victoria.

january 30th (Matthew's birthday) was the 2nd hottest day in Melbourne's history
and the birght sparks that we are. We Rehearsed!

february 7th(Adam's Birthday) which is sadly will be remembered as black saturday was the hottest day in the history of the state. and let it be known Melbourne was actually the hottest place on Earth, Hotter than the Sahara desert. so naturally we play a show!

the day after was alot more pleasent.
Probably the best show that we have ever played.....
so again thanks for making a tough weekend Unreal.

anyway down to Business.
after promising for so long finally i can announce that october powder will have New line of merchandise
We have all the usuals T-shirts,Stickers & Badges
as well as our regular Headed for Catastrophe posters & EPs.
but we will have a few extra items to buy that we going to keep up our sleeves for now

the St kilda festival was planned to be our last show for a couple of months so we can focus on writing but due to the tragic events that have happen we may be playing the Odd benefit or two, things are still in early stages but when we
have more info on a show in Alexandra/Yea/whittlesea area
So we hope to see you all to attend somehow!!!!!

but on a personal note everytime we played in the yea and Alexandra area Bob cummings & the crew have truely taken the best care of us I remember the 1st time we played. Yea was the 1st time we had ever been given the full rock star treatment
So its our duty in there time of need to do the same in there hour of need.

its seems we have been a bit Gun Hoe with the Blogs in the last month or so hahaha

SO 2008 probably the best year since October powder has been in exsistant by far it had its ups and down
We met so many Awesome people played with some unreal bands
and some pretty God awful ones too,
Travelled far & wide!
Gigs @ the hi fi Bar & with Streetlight manifesto
The making of Headed For Catastrophe was great fun
and having members of For Amusement Only sing one the EP
was something special too
Matthew constantly saying stupid things
& the highlight of them all Mark's blue shoes!!!

but it also had some somber moments,
None more so Than Callan Calling it a day.
Matt still not being able to resist now and then to take his clothes off @ some shows.
And some things internally that weren't so peachy
Which comes with being in a band(No we don't hate each other thou if mark does keep despensing his brand of methane gas @ Practice there will be blood!!!)
but sometimes it can take a toll on you Mentally,
because the Rewards are few in far between from our point

but they do happen its the best feeling in the world,
So when you guys come to a show sing along
Or when we make new fans
all the Comments,Messages,Friends requests and that one person in particular who made a Street team for us:wink:
www.myspace.com/octoberpowderstreetteam
and are prepared to get there bodies inked in reference to our music!
you really don't know how much it means to us.
So Help us Spread the word in 2009 so we can be a happy bunch of vegemites!

So Will has now fully taken over the Reins/skins/sticks/stool!!!! and we are excited with what lies ahead,

Will doesn't get much time to settle in,
cos we hitting the ground running for 2009
With stack off all ages shows. some indoor some outdoor, some
But we have some big Shows coming up in the first Half of 2009
so keep your eyes peeled on our Gig section for more announcements!!!!

So strap yourselves in because 2009 is the Year of the POWDER!!!!

Stay true stay Rock
Matthew,Adam,Mark & Will
