Article I Name and Purpose

Section 1. Name - The Gang shall be known at the Tren Way Bicycle Gang, hereinafter referred to as the Gang.

Section 2. Purpose - The purpose of this Gang is to encourage in the instruction, practice and advancement of the members in any or all of the disciplines of bicycle riding; to encourage and cultivate a spirit of comradery among Gang Members; and to carry out the general polices and objectives of progressive bicycle culture.

Article II Membership

Section 1. Prerequisites - The membership of this Gang shall represent a cross-section of the social and cultural life of the bicycle community and shall not consist wimps, cry-babies, whiners, or wearers of spandex or other sponsored "Bicyclist" attire, or Jeff. All memberships shall be held by individuals and shall not be transferable.

Section 2. Must Ride - A member shall be regarded as in good standing if he or she is not more than ninety (90) days without a ride, joust or battle.

Section 3. Trust - Any person who is vouched for and duly elected to membership in this Gang shall be deemed to have accepted these Bylaws and shall be bound by them in all respects as if he or she had been a member at the time of their adoption.

Section 4. Comradery - All Gang Members shall defend fellow members from all enemies, foriegn or domestic. If any outside entities, individual or groups, antagonize members of the Gang, Gang Members will be required apply any technique or tactic of defense, including and not limited to offensive measures, challenges, races or battles.

Article III Admission to Membership

Section 1. Members shall be admitted to the Gang in the following manner: a) Applications for membership shall be submitted in email or verbally in the form and manner prescribed by existing Gang Members and shall bear the endorsement of two members in good standing. Interested persons may be invited to a Gang ride for the purpose of informing them of Gang purposes and activities prior to submitting an application for membership. b) After receiving the application, the Gang Members shall notify the membership at the next regular Gang ride of the identity of the applicant and the date on which such application will be acted upon by the existing members. The applicant at this time will be designated as On Notice. c) Thereafter, and after all members have had the opportunity to express objections, if any, regarding the applicant for membership, the existing members shall at its discretion, at a regular or special ride or meeting, approve or reject such application for membership without explanation of its action. A majority vote of those present shall be necessary to give approval. d) Upon favorable action by the existing members, such approval shall be communicated to the applicant by an endorser.

Section 2. Any former member of another Bicycle Gang, who was in good standing when his or her membership was terminated, may be admitted to membership in the manner prescribed in SECTION 1 of this ARTICLE and by complying with such requirement as may be established by the existing members. The admission of such former members shall be neither required nor automatic.

Article IV Termination of Membership

Section 1. Any member may resign from the Gang provided that all indebtedness to the Gang has been paid and that such resignation shall be in writing.

Section 2. Any member who is more than ninety (90) days without a ride, joust or battle with the Gang shall be notified in person that the member is suspended from membership. Such member upon submission of application for reinstatement within thirty (30) days after such notice, may at the discretion of the existing memners, be reinstated. If such member has not applied for reinstatement within the stated period, he or she shall be deemed to have forfeited his or her membership and shall be ignored.

Section 3. Any member charged with conduct unbecoming of a Gang Member or with any act prejudicial to the best interest of the Gang or its Members, and against who such charges are sustained after opportunity to appear before the existing members in his or her own defense, may, at the discretion of the existing members be expelled from membership. This is all a joke, see Article VIII. Upon such action by the existing members, members shall notify the member in writing of said action without further explanation.

Section 4. Any member whose membership in the Gang has been terminated for any reason whatsoever shall forfeit all interest in any funds or property of the Gang and all rights to the use of the Tren Way Bicycle Gang name, emblem or other insignia.

Article V Fees, Dues and Assessments

Section 1. There is currently no admission fee required for an applicant can qualify as a member.

Section 2. Membership may require the purchase of the Official Gang T-shirt, currently $10. Denim or leather vest with appropriate patches and emblems will be made available in the future.

Article VI Resolutions

Conflict shall be resolved with either a race, joust or battle. a) Races - Starting point and finish shall be agreed upon by all parties involved. Rewards may also be included as incentives. These rewards may include money, possessions including but not limited to bicycles, as agreed upon by all participants. The finish shall be a single target, empty can or sign. The first to reach the target will be proclaimed winner. b) Jousts & Battles - battlefield and weapons will be provided. Winner is determined by the last rider to remain on both wheels. Only one (1) foot may have contact with the ground at any given moment.

Article VII Meetings

All Gang meetings must include at least one (1) ride to be considered an official meeting. Rides have a minimum requirement of three (3) miles distance or one (1) hour in duration.

Article IX Fiscal Year

The fiscal year shall run from August 1 through July 31 until such time as the Gang Members adopt a different fiscal year.

Article X Chapters

Chapters or local affiliates may be formed following these guidelines a) Approval of Chapter Charter by the Gang. b) Update the Gang with Chapter membership roster once each year. c) Names and addresses of new members joining the Gang chapter during the year must be submitted to the Gang as they occur.

Article XI Amendments to Bylaws

Section 1. When significant changes to these Bylaws are proposed, they shall be explained and discussed at a Meeting or Ride that is held at least thirty days prior to a vote to ratify them.

Section 2. After approval by majority vote of the existing members these Bylaws will be considered ratified.

Section 3. Petitions to change these Bylaws must be presented to the existing members in writing to be considered.
