means (02-08)
There are other places – On October 26th we will be packing into the van one last time for a cross-Canada headlining tour. Here is how the tour breaks down.
28 Shows:
16 Ontario and Eastern Canada Dates 5 US Dates (Midwest) 7 Western Canada Dates
For the Eastern Canada portion Means will be a part of the Underground Operations UNITY TOUR that features KTO and guests, while the final Western Canada shows will be alongside our friends in HORIZONS.
These will be our final shows together, and Means will be disbanding after a final performance scheduled for November 28th in Regina, SK.
What began as new friends playing music together in a small northern Manitoba town is now nearly seven years later, a cloud of experiences upon which we look with both gratitude and pride. Grateful to have been a part of this band, through such formative years of life, all while having the opportunity to share in something meaningful to each of us; Music. For the outlet of this particular sound, which we cherish and trust, and for those of you who shared these years and become the community that surrounds us, we are ever grateful. Thank you for the camaraderie that we share and for your sincerity and spirit. As a band, we are proud of the miles behind us and the work ethic we maintained even though nothing-is-perfect. We are proud that we were a band that was able to laugh with one another and at ourselves along the way, often to the point of vomiting, crying, soiling etc., or all-of-the-above. Happy for all the pathetic inside jokes that for good reason mean nothing to anyone but us. Finally, we are proud of one another and the people we are becoming; trusting that through the experience of playing in this band we are growing to be more compassionate and understanding individuals.
We would like to thank Underground Operations, Facedown Records, Ian @ Blackbox, Kevin Gales, Rosesdead, Everynewday, Misery Signals and Life in your way; for your guidance, inspiration, good faith and friendship throughout the life of this band.
In closing, we would like to say that though it is rare when something ends, means will finish this winter on good terms and we are happy to announce the upcoming month long tour to celebrate together.
Specifics will be posted for all final tour dates soon, so please check back and make plans to come out to the show one last time.
Kindest regards,
Aaron, Blair, Dylan, Todd and Matt Means (02-08)

Yo everyone. Tonight we are huddled in our friend Tommy's apartment in Utah… catching a bit of sleep before we head to Reno in the morning. We are about a week into the current run of this extended US tour we have been on since February. This particular leg of the tour sees us in the southern states more than we have ever been before... including California, Texas, Florida, and others. Check for dates in your area and come out to the show! Other than touring a lot, the past few months have been some of the busiest we have ever had as a band. I wanted to write a quick note to fill everyone in on what's been happening with us with regards to our new record that is coming out. After an EP, a full length and a re-release split album, we recently parted ways with Torque Records as our Canadian label. We are truly grateful for the work the label did on behalf of our band. That being said, we are very excited today to announce that Means has signed with Underground Operations out of Toronto. Our new album "TO KEEP ME FROM SINKING" will be available across Canada via UO JUNE 3rd, while the US street date remains MAY 27th through Facedown. We are very happy to be working with UO on this record… more importantly we are stoked to share our new music with you and to have the opportunity to perform and tour. As always shows are constantly being added… including Canadian dates for this summer… Check back often for info and come out to the show! Sincerely, Aaron.Todd.Matt.Dylan Photo credits. Hey everyone. I am writing from Salt Lake where we played tonight at 'the Ritz'. Last night we drove through Wyoming where the temperature through the night was hovering around -12C. There was snow all over the sandy fields and I was feeling a bit closer to home. Aaron informed me just now that we are nearing two months into this run of tours in the US that will end the first week of June. We left home Feb. 18, and spent the first two weeks of March recording TO KEEP ME FROM SINKING on Long Island NY. Today we posted the song BREAKING IN from the new record. Facedown has launched a pre-order deal which includes a limited t-shirt and poster. Check out the preorder by clicking HERE. The record will be available via Facedown Records in stores (excluding Canada) and on itunes MAY 27th. We are currently on tour with FOR TODAY, BURDEN OF A DAY, and LIFE IN YOUR WAY (Rhymes!). The last few weeks of shows have been particularly memorable. For the first part of the month we were able to support FOR TODAY tearing it up on their CD release shows, (I can't believe I say, 'tearing it up'…) and now we are supporting one of our favorite bands LIFE IN YOUR WAY on their final national tour. Thanks to everyone who has been coming out to these shows. Its nice to see you and sing along with you. Also, a special thanks to Caleb and the venue in Cheyenne, Wyoming for hosting an epic scissor-kick battle between Means and LIYW, which was close… but I think we all agree that MEANS came out the victors. We continue in the US until June then we will be touring Canada, East and West, through the summer months in support of our new record. If you are reading this from somewhere in North America, odds are that we will be playing near you soon, so check out the dates and make plans to come to the show. Hey everyone. We packed everything back into the van this morning and departed from where we lived for about two weeks... the back of Vudu Studios. We would like to say thanks to Mike and his staff for guiding us through the process and dialing in tone chaperone. Its an understatement and terribly foreseeable, but i’ll say it anyway... We are all incredibly excited for this record! The songs take the band in a bit of a new direction musically, and even though it wasn’t done intentionally, the record has a bit of a lyrical theme. There is much coming regarding the album, including title, tracklisting, release date etc. For now, we have posted the final studio video blog. Later. aaron.matt.todd.dylan

Hello friends. We have a bunch of exciting things going on in the means camp. We were at home in Regina writing music from November to February and now we are finally getting a chance to move forward and record the songs. I hope you enjoy being enlightened with how life in the studio goes. (the music clips in the video are taken from pre-production done in regina, not studio tracks)
Sneak Peek! We will be testing out some of the new songs at the shows we will be playing around the u.s. until the record comes out. Please come and hang out. There are so many people we excited to reconnect with and so many people we are excited to meet.
Canadian tour plans are also in the works for summer...
There is a new member of the means team we want to introduce as well. IAN STANGER! add him on facebook and tell him he's a sweetheart... http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=501988693&ref=ts He is a busy man. Check out the other bands he works with at blackboxrecordings.net

Hey guys... We arrived home from our last show of 2007 early this morning. The van finishes the year of tour covered by an epic shield of dirt and snow accumulated on the roads through the Canadian Rockies. The rest of us arrive home to catch up with some friends and family after rounding out a schedule of more than 250 shows this past year. The year began when we opened a farewell show in Regina for our good friends FAR FROM RUIN on January 10th, and ended this past weekend with a trio of great shows. The first in a classroom at a museum just outside of Calgary, the second being the Comeback Kid homecoming show in Winnipeg, and finally a great show at the Lyric Theatre in Swift Current. (yes, that is actually the name of a city.) We crammed so many memories into this year, both good and bad. We drove through Phoenix in July with the heat on, slept on the beach in Florida, hit the ditch in -25C temperatures North of Edmonton, and were responsible for the deaths of one deer and one coyote. From New York City to San Diego, and from Vancouver to St. John's NFLD, we were able to meet so many kind, smart, creative and unique people to share our music with. Having that said, we are happy to announce today that plans have been made to record the follow up to our international debut in 2007 Sending you Strength. Starting tomorrow we will be hitting the practice space to continue work on new material to take into the studio in March of 2008. The album will be recorded at Vudu Studios in Freeport, NY with producer Mike Watts. Mike comes to the project with a client list consisting of As Cities Burn, The Almost, Hopesfall and the Chariot. To have Mike working with us on the new record is going to be incredible. We will keep you posted on all things related to the album as far as a street date, title, etc. for the new record! So stay in touch. Finally, we want to say thank you to each of you for your interest in what we are doing and for your support in the past year. Though we have worked hard this year and put in a lot of time on the road we know that we have only begun and a new record means more touring and many more memories to be made. We hope that you will be apart of it. Thank you. We will see you soon Sincerely, Dylan.Todd.Aaron.Matt Western Canadian Tour (12/07)
