Ya Mutakabbir!
"The Majestic"
1st let me send out a Birthday Greeting to 4 Gemini’s that I know personally, Dyme Girl Drell (I call her Black Magic Woman), Imam Mahdi, DAVE and Shamsi who is one year past LEGAL in every state in the US of A.
She says she is 19.
One year over 18 and that makes her a woman one year older.
So happy new day to her!
I quit having birthdays eons ago, I told my Family I would turn 40 when I hit 60 and instead I stayed 40 till I hit 70.
And, insha allah (G’d willing), like Imam Mohammed, I will remain 75 (when I hit it this year - again insha allah) until I hit one-hundred and fifty.
My brother Shamsideen said, "You can’t do that!"
"Why not?" I asked. "In fact, I’m gonna try to outlive a Tree".
He laff’d and I said, "Why should a Tree outlive me (?), a Tree can’t go anywhere and I can go everywhere so why should a Tree stand there and watch me die?"
He said, "Awww man".
And I said, "I’m gonna pick one of those Giant Sequoias out in California that you can drive a Truck thru and see which one of us will Alive the longest".
He said, "Man, you are KRAZY!"
Then at one of the Ramadan Sessions (ta’alim classes and jumua’ah) with Imam Mohamnmed he said, "This year I hit 70 and I think I will remain there for awhile, I like that age".
Man, I had just hit 70 from 40 and I was still looking good!
He was too. Our beards were still black maybe with just a hint of gray. He had on a brown leisure looking suit that looked like it came from the GAP - sort of tan, with shirt and trousers that matched and some soft brown shoes with a spit shine that looked like Florscheims or better.
He was clean as a whistle and just as relaxed.
He said he had four wives but was not sleeping with any one of them but he was taking care of (financially) all of them.
So he was in a way, without a wife and some sisters (beautiful ones too) offered to marry him and he declined and said, "Sister, you do not want that burden", because Imam Mohammed is married 1st to Allah, 2nd to the Prophet and 3rd to his students and then to his Wife (only Allah can ’own’ him - not a woman and few women understand a busy man). He let it lay.
Now if you are wondering what this has to do with Prayer, stick with me.
The Imam said that when he writes out his lectures on his computer (saying he taught himself how to Type and I did too when I was in the Air Force) and he writes something that stirs his heart, he gets up from his chair, drops down on the Floor and makes sajdah and he did just that.
He stood up, dropped down to the floor n that hip looking outfit he had on, he bent down on all fours and made sajdah, because, he said, "I enjoyed this session with you all, every last one of you and I pray allah you enjoyed it too!"
And a chorus yelled, "allahu akbar! Allahu Akbar! ALLAHU AKBAR!"
MAN, everybody was so, so happy!
And the Imam left out smiling.
After he made sajdah!
He put his forehead, and his nose, two hands, knees and feet on the floor and hit that ’fetal’ position where your Heart rises ABOVE your head.
Five points on the floor, forehead, nose, hands and feet.
"Alhamdulillah!" Is what he said he said when he was down there!
Everybody left smiling and talking to each other like lovers of Allah who loved The Imam and each other*.

To know the Divine
is to know its many faces
as mother and father
creator and destroyer
lover and the beloved
the real and the dreamed
both material and holographic

To love the Divine
is to accept its Love
from all its many facets
qualities
and incarnations

How can one accept
that which you are rejecting?
How can you invite
that which you are running from?

And yet it is all
a trick of the mind
As attraction and repulsion
Mean nothing

God is with you
always…
Never lost
and thus
never found

'A POET ON POETRY'

- bismillah
Interesting poem BUT I cannot imagine G'd as an It ?!
I have never seen an it create anything.
A car is an it.
A chair is an it.
A thing is an it
Allah is He,

He is not an it.

 allah is

Ahad!

The One!
And if you want to know Him
You can,

Read Qur'an.

But then again,
Man can write a book
But an

 It (?)

Can not!

But G'd can reveal one

To a man
And
Man can have a name
Adam
Abraham
Jesus and John
Why not G'd?
allah

DEFINITION OF A FRIEND

- bismillah

A Friend should be radical
They should love you when you're unlovable
Hug you when you're unhuggable
And bear you when you're unbearable.
A friend should be fanatical
They should cheer when the whole world boos
Dance when you get good news
And cry when you cry too.
But most of all, a friend should be mathematical
They should multiply the joy
Divide the sorrow
Subtract the past
And add to tomorrow
Calculate the need deep in your heart
And always be bigger than the sum of all their parts.

"Music soothes the Soul of the Savage!"

Seeking safety in allah from shaitan (satan)

- bismillah

There are those who say that Music is haram (forbidden) in al-islam and to those I say, "The Universe was created with sound "kun fiya kun!"* amd moves along in harmony and rhythm".

I'll never forget my Friend, Mr. Ellis Marsalis, the piano player and Patriarch of the Marsalis musicians and Poets and brothers who said to me, yea so many years ago as I was entering into Ummatul Islamia, called then the Nation of Islam under the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and visions of our Prince Malcolm dancing in my head, Mr. Marsalis said, "Man, I love the Honorable Elijah Muhammad but he says you can't play Music and I ask myself, 'Why would G'd give you a talent and tell you not to use it'?"

Sacrifice?

I was a writer always around musicians and thinkers and 'creative' people of all stripes but into Islam I went because the Book of Malachi said of G'd, "I will send you Elijah..."

From him I saw Malcolm, Muhammad Ali ane me, Wazir Farrakhan, Abdel Alim, Wali Rauf, oops, Jawad Shakur after the Imam came in G'd's name.

Imam Warith-udeen, I mean.

"Allah is G'd", he said, and in the Qur'an I read:

Qul!  Say!

Huwallahu Ahad

He Allah is One

Alone

With us,

The children of Abraham and Hagar

"He whom allah loves most, He gives the severest test" - The Prophet

And we - as a People - have been tested in the Fires of Hell (slavery) and we still LOVE G'D and SHOUT FOR JOY!

Allahu akbar

G'd is Greater!

After all,

He is Creator

"In the beginning Allah (alone) created the sky (heaven) and earth, 'sami wati wal ardi' in Arabic and Man did not come along until after it.

Adam was his name

and then came Abraham

The Thinking Man!

And from him and Hagar - Hajar al Awad in Arabic, we came!

Singing, "La illaha ill allah, there is no G'd except Allah!"

Can you imagine Roy Hargrove and Christian McBride playing that!?

"I can!" My Grandchild ran from her parrain!

Singing, "I can, I can, I can..."

Me,

"When a bee lies sleeping, in the palm of your hand, you are bewitched and deep in Love's Promised Land", hear Mr. Ellis Marsalis' "Heart of Gold" on Columbia, then and only then, check out "Marsalis Music!"

Thanks,

OCCULT VISIONS

- bismillah

The
Black Man
Sits alone and cries
While outside his
Brother dies

Blood is flowing
On the streets
We don't care
We got a hip-hop
Beat

Way back
Inside my eyes
I thought I heard
Roy Hargrove's trumpet cry

Or was it
Wynton
I was hearing
As the end of
Life was nearing

I was thinking of
Mr. Edgar Alleh Poe

Like him I heard
A rapping at my door

Instead of a Raven
Standing there

It was the man
Who wasn't there

Vanised into the
Midnight air

Suddenly a vision
I was seeing
Not a real human being

It was my brother
Standing there

Blood stained shirt
And blood drenched hair

Shot! Stabbed!
Hooked on crack!
Trying to get his
Money back

Shot
With HIV
Biological warfare
Trickery

WHAT?

Sub-Sahara
Full of aids

It's a vicious game
He plays

Clearly I see
Everybody in Africa
Cannot possibly be
Having sex with you and me

And any and everybodee
Like way back in Slaveree

Liar!

SUICIDAL BOMBER

- bismillah

Am I better
Than my brothers?
Her heart cried out to G'd
As she strapped the belt of bombs
Underneath a breast
That would never feel
The touch of a baby's lips

Her face was frim
As her heart was bursting
From oppression
Worse than salughter

So like her other brother
Lost in the dark of America

Who?
Mark
With the X'es
Mark Essex
Atop the hotel
Giving oppressors hell

Silently
She prayed
As the prayers
In her heart rushed
Up to her head

She would never feel
Her lover's arms
He was already dead

In Palestine
Where Arab blood
Flows like wine

Grapes
Smashed
By American
Tanks and Bulldozers
Rolling over
Young men
Some as young as
Ten

Amen

Silently
She went into
The din
Of the sin
Of the children
Of Abraham
And Sarah

Beneth the breast
Of Hagar's child
Was not a baby but
A bomb

"Deathy has come to claim us
Will Almighty G'd redeem us?"

The soft sweet hills
Of Jericho
No longer sang an echo

Of valleys
Green with spring
Where her heart once
Went wondering

Shrouded in peaceful slumber
And old and dusty streets
Where one would likely meet
A donkey and some sheep

Her heart was beating
On the bomb
Strapped to her chest
And prayers were whispering
In her breast

"Oppression is worse
Than slaughter"
As she headed for
The Jewish Quarter

To kill
And be killed

Dear Brother Imam

MAY I BORROW A MOMENT OF YOUR TIME?

- bismillah

*_^ Sometimes I wonder if common sense makes me different from other African American muslims who are following nothing but themselves and the 'scholars' when common sense tells me that 1st, we should accept that we, the slaves of yesterday and the New Negro, Afro, African American people are Bible people.
We come to al-islam thru the doorway of Jesus.
We have a lot of dirt and filth on us and, until we accept the 'us', we will not progress as a people and so, here I am among so many muslims telling me to FORGET MY PAST and yet, I read 'their' (immigrant) histories and the they refuse to even glance at mine.
Why? Because, I, we, resist it ourselves, many of us find slavery painful and somehow makes us less than other men, forgeting the inner strength and faith that brought us thru that and G'd, Allah promised in Bible, as it closed(the Book of Malachi) the Old Testament, to send us Elijah.
And he did. Common sense.
Why is that so difficult to understand?
Like many others who followed Elijah, many of us are college graduates, some Like Dr. Lonnie Shabazz and Dr. Naim Akbar, have multiple degrees.
And Dr. Shabazz is, of all things a mathmatician and Dr. Akbar is a Master - with a doctorate - of Psychology and has written quite a few very popular books on the subject.
He, Dr. Akbar, a Student of Imam Mohammed and a friend of both Imam Mohammad and Wazir Farrakhan (and, thank G'd) a friend of mine and my wife is a Thinker, a man of the Mind.
The point of this is, "Why cannot an Educated person understand that Imam Mohammed was BORN mohammed among us"!
I pray Allah will bless us to give this idea some thought.
I say "idea" because for some reason it seems to be a strange idea to some of us as though it is a selfish idea (except when we look a the plight of our people).
When we look at our people (even the successful ones) we should realize that we must speak to them in a language they understand, not get all confusing about what some 'scholar' said.
Let us see what Allah - G'd - is telling 'us' to say.
The Holy Prophet, prayers and peace be upon him, went first to famiy, 2nd to his people, the Quraish and then to Ta'if (where he was stoned) and then to others.
We start at home (w/family) and then with the African American people who so desparately need the dignity of al-islam, a religion that allows us to be ourselves and understand that we are saying to Allah, "You alone we serve and You alone we ask for help" and 'guidance'.
And Allah has sent us that guidance in a book and in a man to explain (teach) the book (Al-Qur'an) born Mohammed among us, the slaves who, like Bilal, should be calling men to worship, to sevice and to Allah and Mohammed.
Allhu alum
- imam wali
Fiqh before Shari'a

Fiqh - understanding
Shari'a - the law of G'd - Allah

Am I on some spiritual or intellectual Mind thing?

Seeking kindred souls (sensual in a woman) intellectually pervasive among muslim men and other 'thinking' men and thinking women.

Are we so few inside the privacy of our blogs?

We write for the masses, but so few come here to think.

Along with me.
