This is a clip from Ricardo's "Under the Influence" performance a couple of years ago, which was a very special event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7C3x_pH8h8The entire video, which features performances from great musicians like Tito Calloway, Semyon Kobialka, Paloma, and many, many others, can be found here: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.channel&channelID=178091058
In addition to the musicians, a tribe of superb actors, directors and other creative types are also featured performing Ricardo's work.
And my playing, this time on the NS Series 5 string violin, can be heard during the opening and closing credits as well. Recent gigs lately have included performances last week at the Cactus Gallery in Eagle Rock (solo) and last night at Majestical Roof in Pasadena (transcendent concert w/spoken word artist Jim Bolt).

Vida Verde, described as an "eco-friendly boutique," is a great place, unique in the La Canada area, with all kinds of cool art and jewelry by local artists. The website is www.vidaverde.us, the address is 966 Foothill Blvd., La Canada, CA, 91011, right near the base of Angeles Forest. Phone is 818-790-2769. Definitely worth a visit (or two or three!). Oh yeah: My CD is on sale there... Majestical Roof in Pasadena just added "desert..." to their store this week. The store's title pretty much says it all; it's a one-of-a-kind place. I just did a performance today in their courtyard w/Michael Gayle and will continue doing periodic gigs there. Located in Old Town at 88 N. Fair Oaks 102, a special neighborhood, great walking area. Their phone is 626-844-8886. Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/majesticalroof

Current mood: excited
Feeling pretty lucky these days, with lots of career action to report.
I'm honored to report that my mega-talented writer/filmmaker friend Ricardo Acuna asked me to write a musical theme piece for his website. The new music, simply titled, "web/sight," just went up this week, at http://www.writeracuna.com.
I recorded Ricardo's piece at the same time as I was doing demos for my next CD. Once again my trusty producer Michael Gayle is at the helm. Even though "web/sight" is another solo piece, I'll be collaborating with various other musicians, in settings from duos on up, for my follow up to "desert." I have about eight or nine new compositions--it's all very preliminary at this juncture.
Today I heard a close-to-final mix of Tito "Stretch" Calloway's upcoming CD "Thugelligence," on which I am featured on two tracks, "Much Love," and "Hell No." I'm thrilled to be part of this brilliant recording, which absolutely jumps out of the speakers. I wasn't sure about how my normally quiet, reflective electric violin musings would fit in with such hard hitting tracks, but Tito and uber-producer Chris Rosa found plenty for me to do! I'll post excerpts here on Myspace when I get 'em. The album is full of both deep meanings and deep grooves. Look for it in early '09, will obviously keep everyone posted.
Played recently with Davie Gayle, her brother (aforementioned producer/guitarist Michael), and plenty of other talented folks over at Flour Fusion in Lake Elsinore. Both the music and food were worth the hefty drive, and a photography team known as Glass and Plastic also took some way cool photos which you can see on my profile.
Finally, I updated my music on here with an "oldie" from a very experimental group, CPD, with whom I played in the early '90s. I also have a photo that's supposed to go up with it, but as I think as everyone knows, the new Myspace music player is extremely buggy and hasn't been able to upload my photo yet. While the CPD tune is titled simply, "Number Six," its working title was "Indian Sunset" and the photo, when it finally appears, will reflect that...
Oh yeah--please remember to vote. This is possibly the most important election of our era. Please show up and do what people do in a democracy, and let's make sure the you-know-whos don't steal anything that ain't theirs.

If you're out in the high desert in SoCal, Abe and BJ of Windwalkers are carrying my CD at their store. This is a fantastic store, especially great for pottery (my garden is full of their containers and other objects). You can visit their site here:

Also, my friend Sandra here in Eagle Rock has her wonderful store, Cactus Gallery, which features work by local artists. She has great "theme" shows. I was lucky enough to perform at the "Bird Show" on January 12:

Finally, Steve and Scott over at Sacred Sands b&b in Joshua Tree will be selling my CD soon when they open their gift counter. They have been known to play it for guests as part of the ambience in their incredible breakfast room. I have stayed at this place and can't say enough good things about it. Check this out:
