Howdy! Here's what's up...
So much to do! Turns out I forgot to get the rights to the covers on the cd so now, I'm running around trying to get that done. One of the songs (L.A. Song) has proven to be a bit more difficult than expected. I've been back and forth with EMI, BMI, ASCAP and Harry Fox Agency. I still don't have the mechanical license-I'm honing in on it though. It turns out to be a publisher that no one knows. I'm learning a lot in the process so I can't complain too much.
The next question coming up is which publishers to approach. I'm hiring an intern to work for Twisted Folk Music (my label) so he or she can do the research.
Now I'm working on sending the press person headshots, bio one sheets, and copies of the cd. I'll have to give them the cd without the art for now. Not loving that idea but until I get the mechanicals the duplication is on hold.
It's all very exciting and I'm really enjoying the process. Looking forward to more, more, more. I have a small private party to sing at tonight. It'll just be Mark and myself.
ciao for now.
