Hello all, happy Hollandaise,
Kaddisfly News - Early Winter 2008,
There are winds of change in the Kaddisfly camp, and as with the nation, it's time we move forward. First off, we should apologize for not keeping you all updated properly over the last 5 months, but quite honestly there wasn't much to talk about until we knew exactly what we wanted to say. Some of you may or may not know that Kile Brewer has left Kaddisfly. His departure came late in the summer and was not all that unexpected. Kile moved to Denver with his wife and wanted to start a new chapter in his life. We are still very close with Kile and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors.
As Kaddisfly we may very well end up finishing horses galloping one day, but for now I suppose the popular thing to say would be we are on a small hiatus. There will always be our back catalog, and our internet presence will remain the same because Kaddisfly isn't dead, just hibernating. We also still have some unreleased material that may surface at some point.
Now to the moving forward part. Some of us have decided to start a new project called Water and Bodies. If you were a fan of Kaddisfly, we'd like you to check it out. We're very excited, its new, and fresh, and a four piece. With love. Kfly

Hi everyone, I wanted to take this opportunity to fill you all in on what going on in the Kaddisfly camp. First off, I want to apologize for our absence on responding to people and not keeping you updated properly here on the ol' internet. We are all alive and breathing the last taste of summer air here in Portland. I feel like this summer was over before it even started. We have been keeping our time occupied with moving into a new house and working the old 9 to 5 to pay the bills. Many hours have been spent writing, playing, recording crappy demos, refining, re-writing, playing, and recording crappy demos once again, for all the new material we have. We couldn't be more pleased with the songs we've been writing and more keep coming everyday. All of this meticulous preparation will pay off when we record three new REAL demos here in Portland at Rain City Audio with Ryan Furlott (Ever We Fall) next week. No plans for a new album just yet. If this is going to be the best album ever, we need the right people behind it. We wait with our shiny gems drifting in the water in expectation for the right fish to come along and take a giant bite. There are a few nibbles on the line, so please be patient with us and keep spreading the glory. -Beau & Kaddisfly

As a child I always had a recurring dream. Some nights it would scare the crap out of me, other nights I would embrace the dream and have fun with it. The dream was always based around the same thing - I was on a pirate ship full of the most astounding pirates in the sea. We would spend our days terrorizing the waters like pirates do, but on one faithful day we met our match. Another ship of pirates trying to claim our waters appeared from what seemed like thin air. The first cannons were fired and a great battle began. Swash-buckling sword fights and musket shots ensued for hours. At the end of the great battle I saw my ship sinking in the vast blue ocean. We had been defeated. Our only hope for survival was our trusty hot dog life rafts. (Yes... hot dog life rafts). By the end of the dream I was always floating by myself on a giant hot dog. Some nights I would wake up in a sweat thinking I couldn't survive, but others I would think to myself, "I can make it somewhere on this giant hot dog". The nights that I wasn't scared I would always end up on a beautiful island and be in a calm state of relaxation. I guess the moral of my dream was, as long as you work hard and believe in what you are doing you will always survive and anything is possible. Did you or do you have any recurring dreams? Post about them here! Much Love,
-Beau

Its an update, thats what it is. We made it home safe and sound from our trip to SXSW, but not without all the normal tour technical difficulties. Thats what makes touring a real adventure, right? All in all a great time, but it brings up a great question. When will we stop playing shows at teen centers and gravel pits? It makes for some great stories thats for sure, but what is it going to take? Someday we’ll grow up and be a real band, but its going to take more than the 5 of us. We work our asses off day in and day out to get our positive message across to the world, but sometimes its hard to get people to bite our bait. That’s where YOU come in.
It’s time to rally the troops! Whether you’re a causal listener, a full time hater, a super-fan or somewhere inbetween, its going to take ALL your voices to make our little musical community something epic. Come to a show, (DON’T JUST SAY YOU WILL!) tell a friend, tell your dog, tell your grandma-ma. (we generally do pretty well with the 55+ group) Lets change this shitty musical landscape into something worth caring about (post-fad). Something honest. Something from the heart. No more cash crop, cookie cutter bullshit. The thing about the music industry that a lot of people dont realize (or think about, rather) is that without the people, there is no industry. The public determines what happens and who succeeds and who fails. As soon as those who see past the mind-numbing bullshit, take action and stop promoting it, thats when the change will begin. It can happen. It has happened before. There were people in the early 90’s who were fed up with spandex and hair spray (fast forward....sub spandex and hairspray for girl jeans and lack of musical skill), then started a cultural movement promoting honest, artistic and original music.
We are just 5 humans who enjoy playing music together and think we have something very special to offer. We can’t say THANK YOU enough to those who have come to a show, talked with us, shared your stories and/or a beer, or simply enjoyed yourself. Without you, we would be nowhere close to where we are right now.
YOU make this possible for us.
And in celebration of that, we’ve gone ahead and put up a new song, dedicated our loyal kaddisfly troops. It’s called "It Has to Be This Way," we’ll be playing it on our upcoming tour. Hope you like it.
see you soon...

ps. we’re not this grumpy all the time....i swear!

I know we have been a bit behind the scenes lately, but I want to let you all know a little about whats going on.... As a band we have been working very hard on new songs, ideas, challenges, industry bullshit, and consuming liquids.
We have been writing new songs for the last 9 monthes, but have really been productive in the last 3 monthes with a plethora of material. Since I've locked a job down at the local liquor store i've been bringing bottles of inspiration to the writing sessions, and thus creating the proper environment for new music. Ideas, Ideas, Ideas. We are all very excited with the new songs and we cant wait to record an album and show you all. When that will be......??????? We dont know. But I assure you that the crimson fans will be the first to know about new info
I'm realizing now how hard it is to do an update....... you know, we got a sweet video camera at our disposal right now(thanks belize) and maybe we'll do some video updates to make things more exciting. Expect more on that.....

So here's the scoop. In 2003 we released our first full length album entitled "Did You Know People Can Fly? We only had the money to press 1000, and a good chunk of those were stolen along with our trailer a couple years ago in Florida. We want our fans to have a fair chance at owning this record in its original form, so we are doing a LIMITED re-press of Did You Know… with all original artwork by Maria Angelo. The album is going to be sold exclusively online at our Merch Now web-store, and once they are gone, they are GONE. This will be the last time Did You Know… will appear in this form, this is it. Pre-orders start the last week in November, there are not very many being made, when they are gone, they are GONE.
**Go Listen to the song Manhattan Loves You off that album on our page right now!!
** ORDER YOUR OWN COPY at www.merchnow.com/kaddisfly
Enjoy!

In celebration of the repress of "Did You know People Can Fly" we have NEW ringtones for sale for each song off the record. Each ringtone is 0.99 cents and can be customized. You can also download ringtones directly from your phone by texting 235157 to MYXER (69937).

We made it back home safe and sound here in the good land of Portland after a two month long journey this summer. It's hard to even think back to the beginning of July when this whole shindig of a tour even started. We met a lot of great people and played with some amazing bands along the way. I just want to say thanks to Fear Before the March of Flames, This Will Destroy You, You in Series, Envy on the Coast and Danger:radio for some great times early on this summer. Warped Tour, oh Warped Tour, I have a love-hate relationship with thee. Lots of love like PBR, making new friends, the Spirit, Andria, sun, a great stage crew, some good music….you had to go looking for it but it was there. The not so good things are, well, you can probably guess. It's a circus, just too much at times, but with the help of Dan "Bugga Lee" Fury and Matt "the big man" Schmidt we conquered the masses this summer and I got a great tan end of story. Looking toward the future we see some great things to come including a Co-headlining tour with our good bros Strata. Supporting the trek will be The Panic Division (a personal favorite of mine), and The Last Opera. We are so excited to be able to play a longer set so be prepared for a few slick tricks in the set list. I know this is a west coast tour only and many of you are bummed, but fear not cause its in the cards that we will be back across the U. S & A in November. Stay tuned for more info coming soon. These should keep ya busy….see you soon. –Beau J. Photos By: Ryan hendrix
