San Francisco, CA — November 3, 2008 — IODA, the global leader in digital distribution, marketing, and technology solutions for the independent music and film industry, has been named a Rising Star in Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 program for Silicon Valley. The Rising Star award is a special designation for fast-growth companies that have been in business a minimum of three years, and is part of the Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 program. Rising Star rankings are based on percentage revenue growth over three years (2005–2007). IODA recorded three-year revenue growth of 1,258 percent over that time period.
Founded in 2003, IODA has quickly built a roster of over 10,000 labels from more than 50 countries. Its catalog now includes over 1.5 million tracks from more than 60,000 artists, and is licensed to more than 100 retail partners representing more than 400 digital storefronts worldwide. IODA's retail partner network includes all major digital music services like iTunes®, eMusic, Amazon MP3, MySpace, Napster and Rhapsody®; mobile carriers and outlets such as Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Nokia, T-Mobile, Telefonica, and Musiwave, as well as dozens of emerging models and stores.
"Five years ago IODA was founded on the belief that powerful digital distribution and marketing technologies could transform the role of independents in the music industry," said Kevin Arnold, CEO and founder of IODA. "We just have to look at the success of our clients who are growing their business in ways not possible before to realize we have made huge strides in a relatively short window. This recognition by Deloitte's Rising Star program shines a public spotlight on the evolution of the industry, which is now much more open and accessible to all artists."
With deep roots in both technology and music, IODA's growth can be attributed to the Company's continual development of best practices for the independent digital music landscape. Its sophisticated in-house supply chain systems reliably manage and deliver millions of files to IODA's network of hundreds of retail and promotional partners each month. Its proprietary Rightsholder Dashboard business management tools provide new levels of convenience, control, intelligence, and transparency to independent content owners.
Beyond solving core distribution challenges, IODA has also focused on applying technology to change the way independents market and promote in the online world. IODA's patent-pending Promonet™ digital marketing platform connects labels with thousands of online music sites, including blogs, podcasts, Internet radio stations, and social networks, and provides the ability to track and quantify digital marketing campaigns.
"The Deloitte Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 Rising Star companies have shown the strength, vision and tenacity to succeed in today's competitive technology environment," said Mark Jensen, partner and national director, Venture Capital Services, Deloitte & Touche LLP. "We applaud the successes of IODA and acknowledge its place as one of the few to accomplish such a fast growth rate over the past three years."
To qualify for the Technology Fast 50 Rising Star program, companies must be incorporated a minimum of three years and have revenues in no more than four years, have operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2005 and $5,000,000 in 2007, be headquartered within the San Francisco Bay Area (subsidiaries or divisions are not eligible, unless they have some public ownership and are separately traded), and own proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues or devote a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology or intellectual property in a unique way does not qualify.
As a regional Rising Star company, IODA will be eligible for Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 Rising Star category. This year's Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 program is co-presented by Deloitte, Silicon Valley Bank, Korn/Ferry International, Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, Cornish & Carey Client Solutions, and ABD Insurance and Financial Services - A Wells Fargo Company.
