THE GOOD NEWS IS...we have a new batch of songs to turn loose! The bad news is, as soon as we get the product in our hands we'll be leaving the country for a few weeks and won't have time to release it properly at home. Take heart...it will be available on our website and you can send your orders in...however, I won't be home to fill the orders until the middle of June!! teehee!!!!!
The Cd is titled, "Bleeding Heart". It will contain 12 songs. 11 of which are brand new. Our only cover is the classic by Memphis Minnie, "In My Girlish Days". Our friend Jimmy Thackery is the writer of 2 of the cuts. One is his haunting anthem "Levee Prayer". We played it together on the Legendary Blues Cruise in January and the fans seemed to truly dig it. I have cut it with my band and Jimmy makes a guest appearence on guitar which is incredible. Another of Jimmy's songs included on the cd is a song he wrote just for me! "Memphis Moon" is Jimmy's way of helping me heal the hurt I often feel in my homebase, Memphis Tn. It has a very classic sound and feel. Jimmy is also playing his signature guitar on it!!! Thank you Mr. Thackery!!!!
Our drummer Doug Mcminn has a Mama and Daddy who are both vets of the blues. Both Papa Don McMinn and Dee Fisk Barton have songs on this CD. "Some People" by Don, and "12 Bar Blues" by Dee. Wayne our bassist contributed one of the strongest songs which is a true story about his Dad's early sharecropping days in Mississippi. "Red Mississippi Clay"
Got 2 Delta Joe Sanders songs too!...and naturally, I wrote a few of my regular type...bitchy, drunk, bleeding heart hippie, etc....no titles on mine or Joe's... you'll just have to buy the CD!
Last but not least, a song by our friend, fellow musician and writer John Burgess. "Sleepless Nights Alone" He is in heaven but his song lives on.
So there you have it. I hope everyone will go to www.rebarussell.com in a month or so and hook up to our new music. I also hope to be adding to our distribution sources via the internet and I'll have that info posted at the site.
Thanks to all of you who support the Reba Russell Band, and all the other wonderful hard working musicians/bands out there. It is going to be hard for all of us to travel to your towns with gas prices the way they are. It is making it harder and harder to pay bills and eat for all of us.... So when you can, let musicians know you apprciate them !!
hope to see y'all at our shows!!!God Bless the Blues!
