here's what the good people at philadelphia weekly had to say about the (at that time, upcoming) show at the church!

US Funk Team

Thurs., June 1, 7:30pm. $8. With Hail Social, Liam and Me + Tiddies. First Unitarian Church, 2125 Chestnut St. 866.468.7619. www.r5productions.com

The gravelly talk-singing and loose hooks may be nods to Modest Mouse and the Pixies, but with each wiseass anthem, Philly's US Funk Team sound more like themselves. An overstuffed album and split single paved the way for the tour EP Wake and Jam, on which "You're the Worst" and the bristling "Love Is Lame" match youthful exuberance with cynicism borne of experience. As indie rock goes, the band's done everything right so far, and they're rewarded with a high-profile R5 show (not always easy for locals) bolstered by some of our city's brightest hopes for all-ages glory. US FUNK TEAM - RECORD RELEASE/
TOUR KICKOFF (all-ages) SHOW also Featuring 3 amazing philly bands: HAIL SOCIAL, LIAM AND ME, AND THE TIDDIES!!!!!!!!!!!! ($8.00 show)

On Thursday, JUNE 1ST, The ultimate FUNKING will take place and we are calling all funk fans to help make it a night to remember!

On that day, We will be kicking off a month-long tour of the Midwest and releasing a special "Summer Tour 2006 cd" to coincide with it. The cd will feature MANY new tracks that you definitely enjoy at a cheap price!

WE WILL BE PLAYING SOME NEW JAMS AS WELL AS ALL THE FAVORITES! WE WANT TO TURN THE CHURCH INTO DANCE PARTY OF THE YEAR! WE ALSO GOT A BUNCH OF SUPRISES UP OUR SLEEVES THAT SHOULD NOT BE MISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What can make this night better? We got 3 of our friends bands(who are all amazing) to play with us!

Also playing will be:

-Hail Social- (Polyvinyl Records)
Philly Indie/Postpunk heroes! Catchy melodies and sick dance beats. Last year they were handpicked by Interpol to open on their national tour with secret machines before they
were even signed! There's a reason for that..

-Liam and Me-
These guys are the fastest growing Philly band today! They incorporate Pop hooks and dance beats with a vintage 80s vibe. Their live show is nothing short of amazing! Don't miss their set!

-The Tiddies-
This Philly 5-piece is awesome. They feature rad keyboard and guitar riffs as well as sick dual vocals. Their sound is like an awesome mix of bands such as ben folds five, the beatles, and dinosaur jr. It works amazingly!

(this is an all-ages show!) (cost: $8.00)
