Want to win a Kindle 2 or a Pocket Sony e-reader? The Samhain authors from The Samhellion are running a four week scavenger hunt and contest with two Kindles and two Pocket Sony e-readers up for grabs--one will be awarded to a very lucky winner each week of the contest. The first week runs from 12/4 noon until 12/10 at noon EST. All of us authors will be offering up the chance to win a free e-book as well. My 2008 EPPIE Winner, Too Good to be True, is the e-book I'm offering as my prize in the first week of the contest. If you have a Twitter account, you can follow the updates on Twitter. The graphic on the right of this post is the graphic for my part of the scavenger hunt. I don't have all the details yet, but you can check them out as they appear on the Samhellion site. I also have a freebie short story, Mistletoe and Mario, which will be released at the same site on December 11. I don't have a link for it yet, but I'll post it on my web site and Twitter as soon as I have it, along with the cover. Mario and Alexa appeared in See You in My Dreams as teenagers, but now they're all grown and renewing their relationship after nearly ten years apart. And last but not least, Seducing the Sheriff releases from Samhain Publishing on December 15th. Half dressed and going for naked…
Starlight Tyler needs to lose her virginity, as in yesterday. With her mother, a Pinkerton, and a wealthy man she doesn’t love on her tail, there’s only one place to cut their cruel intentions off at the pass—get herself back into the arms of long-lost love Cordero Tate. Pronto. She never expected to be tripped up by someone else’s past.
Sheriff Cordero Tate is a haunted man on a mission. Come hell or high water, he’ll round up every member of the gang responsible for the deaths of his wife and unborn child…and make damned sure he never puts his heart on the line again. As in never impregnating another woman. One look at Star, though, and all the old feelings come back in a rush. Worse, she’s just as determined to brand him as hers as he is to keep her chaste.
Their exploration of ways around that impasse leads to three nights of unbearable sensual pleasure. Until her past catches up to her…
Warning: This story contains a lot of hard ridin’, some ass kickin’, and a whole lot of lovin’ goin’ on. No doors left unopened. You can read a PG-13 excerpt here. Marie-Nicole

I was approached earlier this week by Manic Readers to beta test and help promote their new web site and author services. For this I've received a free six month membership. I have to reveal this due to current FTC rules.
Don't you just love those rules. Since I have an upcoming release and I was already looking for some lower cost ways to promote it, this sounded like a very good deal. I already had a free author page at Manic Readers and had just updated it in the last couple of weeks, so I thought 'why not'? The web site has been revamped and updated with a new look, and the Plus Membership has some very useful new features which will only run $3.99 a month. Now that's a bargain anyway you want to look at it.
Here are some of the benefits of Plus Membership.
PM Authors are allowed to host live chats with their readers right from their Author Page.
PM authors are allowed to post news and contests directly to the Manic Readers website. The Plus Membership is only $3.99/month which is an inexpensive way to attract and interact with readers. (I already mentioned that, but it bears repeating.) PM Authors can integrate with Twitter so your Manic Reader book and page updates post to your Twitter page. The Site:
Authors can create free Author Pages quickly and easily without any HTML code. (I love not having to figure out HTML code.)
Readers can enjoy thousands of books, authors, and publishers.
Easy navigation and great search capabilities.
If you'd like to check out Manic Readers and their Plus Membership Services, here are a couple of links.
Believe in the dream... Beware the danger.

Ever just want to do something different from what you're used to doing? I guess that's why I did a one-eighty. From contemporary romantic suspense to erotic western historical. Actually I was trying to write a short story and it ended up a little on the long side (45k words, instead of under 15k). I discovered I really enjoyed writing about another time, even if I know NOTHING about horses, except they're bigger than I am and the only time I rode one, it wouldn't do anything I asked it. But I have a history with the western heroes of yesterday. At the early age of five, I fell head over heels in love with Roy Rogers. I was living in Phoenix at the time and it only took one wonderful evening at the drive-in--it was a match made in Heaven. I dreamed about him night after night--and little did I know that my mother, back in the day, thought he was pretty hot, too. I used to know all the movie cowboys and their horses: Hopalong Cassidy, Lash Larue, Gene Autry, Kit Carson, then there were the Saturday morning TV shows: Rin Tin Tin, Annie Oakley, Buffalo Bill, and Kit Carson--I even met him at the local theatre and had his autograph.
So I guess changing genres isn't so weird after all. There's plenty of room for shoot outs and bad guys, so that makes the suspense side of me happy.
Oh, and I absolutely loved Deadwood when it was on HBO. Now that was really the wild, wild West.

Total nonsense, but you have to see this video. Obviously these Baaa-Studs have time on their hands, and I'm so glad they do. http://video.telegraph.co.uk/services/player/bcpid1137883380?bctid=17075685001Thanks to author CJ Lyons who posted this on one of our loops. I've had Border Collies and they are truly amazing dogs. Needless to say Shelties, like my Cassie, are bred down from Border Collies and Collies. You should see her try to herd the birds and squirrels in our back yard. Marie-Nicole http://marienicoleryan.com

--Today! This has to be the hottest cover I've ever had and I'm so thrilled to have it in my hands and doubly thrilled that my readers can too. Of course there's more than the cover: there's a great story. If you'll go to the Holding Her Own page at my web site, you'll find a multitude of direct links to buy it online.
Here's a blurb: (Yeah, I know you've seen it before, but I can't resist.)
May 2009 for Print version Print ISBN: 978-1-60504-285-5
Electronic Formats
e-ISBN: 1-60504-068-1 Also available in Amazon's Kindle
Pretending to be newlyweds is a dangerous game…particularly when you’re falling in love. FBI Special Agent in Charge Caitlin Chaney believes in doing things strictly by the book, and she’s determined to prove her father’s position in the federal government has nothing to do with her new appointment. To her way of thinking, Agent LeFevre is a screw up and bound to trash her operation and career...
Agent Jake Lefevre is used to running undercover ops his way, and he’s not too happy with his new boss, Caitlin Chaney, an FBI accountant, whose undercover experience is limited at best. He needs a partner who can hold her own, not a prima donna.
Jake and Caitlin’s cover as newlyweds at a New Orleans casino is tested from the very beginning as they learn to live together and convince everyone else they’re madly in love. Their mission to investigate money laundering is almost compromised from the moment Jake discovers Caitlin’s boss and CFO is someone he loved as a teenager.
Warning, this title contains the following: hot nekkid sex, shower sex, an evil voodoo priestess, grisly remains in the bayou, graphic language, and violence.

 Every
year the Heart of Dixie chapter in Huntsville, AL, has a reader's
appreciation luncheon followed by a book signing. I was privileged to
be invited to participate along with several other of MCRW's published
authors: Shannon Dauphin/ Gwen Masters; Trish Milburn/Tricia Mills; Ramona Richards; and Janice Lynn. I
always enjoy meeting readers like the young lady in the photograph with
me, Ms. Dianne Hart, the winner of my Summer Sunshine basket. It was an
exciting event and I heartily recommend it to romance readers because
there was a wide variety of romance genre authors represented from the
famous NYT bestsellers like our featured guest speaker, Vicki Lewis Thompson, or the awesome Linda Howard to nearly unknowns like yours truly. From inspirational to erotic romance, the reader can choose her faves. And
the gift raffle baskets...OMG, so many baskets, so many books, so many
goodies! And next year will be just as fabulous. NYT best selling author Julia London will be the featured guest speaker. Marie-NicoleBelieve in the dream... Beware the danger.

I figure if Barbara Walters can let her dog pitch her autobiography, my new dog Cassie can help me promote HOLDING HER OWN, my latest print release from Samhain Publishing.
The main trick to this photo was 1) keeping her from licking the book
and 2) keeping her attention directed at the camera instead of the
hunky guy on the cover! Yes, even a canine gal can appreciate a good
looking back. Yes, even though it's not "available" until 5/27,
I already have the five copies I ordered from Amazon, and I don't even
have the free author copies from my publisher yet. So officiallythe
release is 5/27, but you can already get it from Amazon.Marie-NicoleBelieve in the dream... Beware the danger.

Occasionally I like to have a lazy day, so I'll post a couple of pix of the pup who claims to be my nephew. Yes, he's truly under the misapprehension we're related. Just because he became my lap dop for a week or so last September... Actually I would have stolen this little darling fluffy boy if I could've gotten away with it. But unfortunately his owners were on to my scheme of stuffing him into my purse. I believe in the first picture, he has just received a good grooming and is all silky smooth and very aware of his beauty. In the pic below, he's just goofing off, but then he's just a purty boy and that's allowed. Next week is the big day, ONE TOO MANY, will be available in print. Three more days to go!
