BLEEP SOUTH

a compilation CD of Florida chiptune/8bit/brokenbleep

on the effervescent micro-label .x.

Oddknock - Hard hitting, face melting track that shows no mercy. Chipmusic with hard kicks and sharp snares. Amazing work.

Lissajou - Master of dance and known to romance the stars. His track is pure dance excellence.

After the Bomb, Baby - We don't really know what they're after other than your ears. Very catchy band. Also featuring: Drum Machines.

I Kill Pxls - VGM Inspired electro chip pop. Comparable to Ben et Bene.

Diamonds Guns Gold - Very washy, spaced out, shoegaze inspired pop. Featuring a Game Boy Camera and a Drum Machine.

Oddknock Featured in Reax Magazine Issue 28

I am very pleased with this article. I give props to Reax for FINALLYgiving some press to a live electronic musician. I would hope to see more of my fellow lem's in this publication. I would also like to thank Ryan Patrick Hooper for his wonderful words in this article. His discription of my music is awesome.

"A modern insurgence through a jungle of large lily-pad snare drums, deep, resonant bass vines wrapped around tree trunks of tribal funk, and a bright blue sky that calms while reminding you of it's ability to change color at any second."

Just wanted to let you all know I have been a "BIT" side tracked on the mixing of my album "Computer Age". I was contacted by my good buddy Andrew(Ironing,Action Research etc.) to submit a track for a comp(on the label .x.) that he is putting togther for the upcoming Gainesville 8-bit Fest,in witch I will be playing all new tracks using 8-Bit sounds mixed with my own style.

Though I love chiptune/8-bit music I did not have any tracks that were geared towards this style.Andrew  had a deadline of Oct.1st ....and with all of my upcoming gigs,I figured I might want to finish a track this weekend.

I started making a track using samples from video games and also using my Atari 2600, Commadore 64 and various 8-bit plug-ins(Syntendo,Magical 8-Bit Plug in etc.). The song "No Lives Left(no human interaction mix)" turned out better than I would have imagined. I used a couple of samples from a few of my fave old games Gauntlet,Star Wars and others. The song is a good mixture of traditonal 8-bit ...but....with an Oddknock twist. I coined a new phrase "Break-Bit". This song is the non vocal version and will be on the comp. I ended up doing another version with vocals ("No Lives Left (no continue)")for my new EP "upupdwndwnlrlrbaselstart".

The comp will have songs from some of the south east's other heavy hitters......more info on that later.

The EP "upupdwndwnlrlrbaselstart"will feature another new genre I created called "Chip-Hop" It's like trip-hop but with chips!

There will be 3 other songs as well with the theme of 8-bit/chiptune hybrids. I like the directon of these tracks.......

Oddknock and Ctrl-Space(live visual manipulation) have been selected to play this year's

Mid Point Music Festival in Cincinnati ,Ohio. We are looking fwd to playing this .......They are not going to know what hit em......

Hee is the latest from the website:

MidPoint Music Festival is an annual music festival in downtown Cincinnati showcasing independent local, regional, national and international artists.

Steeped in its own rich music history, Cincinnati has gained national reputation as a true music town.  James Brown and Hank Williams recorded their greats at Cincinnati legacy King Records; Bootsy Collins, The Afghan Whigs, Blessed Union of Souls and Peter Frampton have all called it home.

Now in it's 7th year, MidPoint Music Festival has established itself as one of the premier music festivals in the U.S.  Consequently, the Midwest region has been recognized as a champion of the newest, coolest sounds influencing the nation and beyond.  Again, this September, 2008, Cincinnati will be the music epicenter where artists and fans alike come to make noise and celebrate our finest export: independent, original music.

The lineup for this year's MidPoint Music Festival is taking shape. All submitting bands and solo artists have been notified and several have confirmed their appearance. The fest — taking place in Downtown/Over the Rhine and the Southgate House (yes, there will be shuttle service) — is set for Sept. 25-27.

Several national acts have also been booked. Along with Robert Pollard and the Boston Spaceships, Seattle's The Purrs (featuring former Cincinnati musician Jim Antonio), Anticon Records' Why? (also featuring former Cincinnatians), Indie Roots band Backyard Tire Fire, Philly Indie/Pop band The Swimmers, Polyvinyl Records' Indie poppers Headlights and Chicago's organ-driven faves, Oh My God (their first local show since a serious car accident on the way to a Cincy gig) are confirmed. More national acts will be announced.

We also have plenty of great artists coming as a result of submissions. A few that stick out: Chicago-based ElectroIndie blog darlings Coltrane Motion, Brooklyn Indie/Punk band Cinema Cinema (which is featured on the new sampler CD from Magnet magazine), Columbus mixmaster Rukcus Roboticus (who is earning high praise for his Playing with Scatches CD; his new live A/V presentation sounds amazing), Chicago's 20th Century Hip Hop, New York City rockers The Death of Jason Brody, Mexican ElectroPop group The Mocks, China's (yes, THAT China) Lonely China Day, Baltimore Jam band Scrimshaw, Michigan's rapper/bassist/poet/producer Yoshi and London-based Electronic/Pop group, Temposhark. And that's just scatching the surface.

Also this year, MidPoint will present its first ever label showcase. The independent imprint Lujo Records, which signed Cincinnati Indie Pop foursome Pomegranates last year and released the fantastic Everything is Alive CD this year, will have its own stage. Joining the Poms' at the showcase will be similarly on-the-rise bands like Baby Teeth, Look Mexico, Cool Hand Luke, Dark Romantics and Mouse Fire.
