I found this several years ago and just now finished reading it.  ...joking - but it is seriously long and wordy and it took me longer than my usual 3 second skim to read through it all.  But I highly recommend any artist or creative person to read this - it is great food for the soul:  How To Be Creative.  Enjoy.

Set-up & Performance Guidelines

·         Please arrive at least a half an hour before your scheduled performance time.  This will give you time to tune up, check out the room, and relax. It will also give you time to get a drink, and meet your host.

·         Participants will get 30 minutes of playing time (unless there is a shortage of signed-up players) so please be prepared to go on stage quickly when you're scheduled to go on.

·         Your 30 mins. includes setup time. Please make sure you're prepared for a quick turnaround when it's your turn to perform by being in tune before getting on stage and having your equipment ready to go on stage by the time the preceding player is ready to complete his or her last selection.

·         No drum set allowed, but hand percussion is acceptable.

·         If you have a CD to sell, let your host know about it beforehand.  The host will announce that and advise the audience to stick around after your performance so they can buy it from you.  If an audience member would like your CD but can't stay until the end of the performance, the host will take their information and give it to you when your performance is over.  The Bunker can't always be counted on to provide change, so please bring some with you so that you can break their bills.  Please bring up to 10 CDs a week before your performance if you would like us to sell them to promote your show.

·         Make sure you tell your host any information about you/your music that you would like to be included in your introduction.

·         Let us know how many performers will be in your group and what instruments/equipment you'll be bringing at least 3 days in advance.

·         Perform your original work only.

·         You may be asked to limit the volume of an instrument or your voice.  This is a small, intimate space.

·         Language per se will not be censored.  This is not a chain coffee shop and our visitors (and you) are considered to be intelligent adults. However, language that in our judgment is racist, sexist, uses the Very Big Bad Words or is otherwise offensive (in the opinions of our otherwise broad-minded owners) will not be permitted.  Please temper your songs accordingly.

Official Drivel

·         All equipment must be brought in carefully through the front doors.

·         We are not responsible for the security of any equipment while in the Bunker or the parking lot.

·         Floors must remain covered under all equipment at all times.

·         No illegal substances or weapons are allowed in the Bunker.

·         By agreeing to play at the bunker on Songwriter's Night you are giving us permission to use your name and images in our promotional materials.

·         A PA system with 2 microphones will be made available to you.  If you will not be playing acoustically, please make sure the amplification you bring is small, bearing in mind the tight space.

We really appreciate you for being a part of our community, and we are looking forward to hearing you play!  Please help yourself to a complimentary refreshment of beer, wine or coffee (one per group member) and we hope you're able to hang out before and after your performance and enjoy the other performers!  If you have any questions, please contact your host, Jessie, at songwriters@yborbunker.com.  Thanks!
