So far, this week has been amazing! Had a great time in Knoxville, playing some Bob Dylan tunes (love Bob D) and meet some really great people! Even went to a cookout with some Knoxville locals!
Tonight I was in Johnson City- love playing in J City! I found out that the show was being broadcast live! Amazing! So, if you missed it, you can go to acousticcoffeehouse.net and listen in the archives.
Tomorrow night I will be playing Town Pump Tavern in Black Mountain, NC. If you're in the area, come on out!
What a wonderful start to the summer!

Hardee’s Management,
Upon watching your latest commercial, I was both disgusted and offended. As a company, I am surprise that you would choose to represent yourself at the expense of the American women, just for a cheap laugh. The demeaning and belittling nature of your commercial is in no way funny or entertaining; it, instead, heightens the social stigma that portrays women as "disposable." The content of your commercial is degrading, inappropriate and insensitive, especially considering the fact that it is presently women’s history month. It, along with others like it, contaminates the minds of the children in this country with ideas of female subservience and male superiority. I believe that your commercial represents the ignorance toward the issues regarding sexism in this country, and it must end. I can no longer sit idly by while my fellow countrywomen and I continue to be humiliated and misrepresented on television. As my mother (a registered Republican) and I were watching TV on the couch, and the commercial “ex- wife, trophy wife” came on, our mouths dropped in disgust and embarrassment, we could not believe what we had seen. So, I can assure you that I am not the only woman in this country who feels the same, and it is not just the “liberal- feminist” types who are offended by such misogyny. It is bad enough that you are polluting the bodies in this country with your food, but now, you are also polluting the minds. I would like to ask you respectfully to remove the present commercial from the air and avoid airing any like it in the future.
Thank you.
Sincerely, Sara Kelley
Now, I have written this letter for many reasons. Though the commercial may not be the worst thing that I have ever seen on television, I knew it was time to say something. After seeing it, something clicked. I realized that the fight must start somewhere, and that somewhere is me. It doesn't matter if it's not the worst thing ever, it matters that it exists. It's all these small things, the subliminal, back-sided commercials comments and social sexist messages in the media. All the small things mold together and create the social standards in America about women and women's issues. Not only is it acceptable to degrade and belittle women in media and the like, but its expected. It is astonishing to me that this mentality is not seen as repulsive and unacceptable. Women are openly attacked and abased in public and, frankly, it's just a slap in the face. I've found myself being very affected by this notion, and now is the time to do something. It may just be one letter, but it's one more letter then there was before. It is now time for women to stand up for themselves and speak up against the injustice of the American social stigma toward women. We must say something. Because, if we don't have a voice, what do we have?

I love all holiday's and Valentine's Day is no exception. The day is so full of love and happiness and red colors. How you could not love Valentine's Day? It's a day to celebrate love!
However, as much as I love this holiday, there is a dark side to it. Did you know that more women are beaten and raped on Valentine's Day than any other day of the year? Did you know that women all over the world are being beaten and raped everyday for sport and for war tactics? This is an epidemic, not only in our country, but all over the world. This is why a woman by the name of Eve Ensler founded V-day; she also wrote the Vagina Monologues. The V stands for 'victory' 'valentine' and 'vagina'. Not only should this be a day of love, but it should also be a day to be aware and spread awareness about victims of rape and domestic violence. One of my favorite traditions each year is going to see the Vagina Monologues, for many reasons, 1) because the proceeds go to organizations to help women who are victims of such crimes, 2) because it reminds me how wonderful it is to be a woman, 3) because I just love it!
This video will help to explain things a little better than I can, so I hope you will take some time watch it: http://newsite.vday.org/ten-years-vday/until-the-violence-stops
This day is a day for love, so I hope while you're on your hot dates tonight with your significant other, or if you're just sharing your love with some close friends, you will think about all these women and this cause, and try to find a way to support it.
Have a wonderful and romantic day!

This past holiday season was one of the best and I'm so excited about 2009 that I can't even stand it! This January I have so many wonderfully amazing things coming up. First of all, I'm playing at The 5 Spot one week from today- January 15th. Then I will be playing at one of my favorite venues in Nashville on the 21st, Norm's River Roadhouse with John Mann and my good friend Jon Jackson. At the end of the month I will be going to Durango, CO and I just cannot wait! I will be playing on the local college radio station KDUR on Friday January 30th which everyone can listen to live at KDUR.org. I will let you know the time when I know, so you can be sure to tune in.
There are many more things coming up in February, but I'll let you know about that when the time comes.
Happy New Year!

Current mood: thankful
I love holidays. I think that any excuse to celebrate is a good one. And what a great way to celebrate! Gathering around with friends and family over a great meal and great conversation. Thanksgiving is a wonderful day, and I feel like I have a lot to be thankful for this year. My friends, my family, my health, the fact that I am able to do what I love(music) and follow my dreams. Everyone should take a second, today, to think about all the things they are thankful for. I'm so sappy. I just wanted to say 'Happy Thanksgiving' to everyone. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

I love my band. Tonight at Christopher's Pizza, not only did they play wonderfully and kick ass (as they always do), they wore matching pearl button shirts. It was amazing. Then we got some promo pics. Hopefully I'll have them up soon. I'm a lucky girl! I love nights like this.
