Check out the interview I did for SHU-IZMZ Radio about BAD GIRLS BUN IN HELL!

From the site:

Some big news for the show is that I have gotten actress, writer, and producer RACHEL GRUBB to be on the show as a guest to talk about her latest film, BAD GIRLS BURN IN HELL, and all the controversy surrounding it- and believe me- there is a lot of controversy...In another post I will give readers a quick run-down on what has been going on, but the real "juice" of the controversy will be on my radio show when talking to Rachel Grubb. After all, she is in the film and knows exactly what has been going on. Better to hear the news straight from the horse's mouth...err...I mean...gorgeous horror movie actress.

The first few reviews for  Why Am I in a Box? my directorial debut, are in!

Film Arcade says, "While employing intriguing subject matter and themes, the comedy is really rich, making Why am I in a Box? a thoroughly enjoyable film." Read the full review here.

Even though the film is a dark comedy and not a horror movie, Horror Movie Fans was interested in reviewing it.  They said, "The film is unique in that it combines humor with a dark edge and some truly whimsical scenes and is drenched with aspiration from start to finish."  Read the full review here

We also got a review from Video Views, who said, "The film's basic theme is that some people have ideas and they put them into action while others tend to only talk about them and never achieve anything...Rachel Grubb...does a terrific taking that theme and injects so much life and originality into it that I was hooked from the opening frames."  Read the full review here

The DVD is a two disc set with the feature, and our two short films, Young Eyes, and A Broken Family, and extra features.  If you would like to purchase a copy, contact us at the Silent-But-Deadly Website

This month at the Chainsaw Mafia, I interviewed my good friend and fellow actress Lisa Pechmiller.  Check out the article, and her photos!  She's gorgeous!

Lisa Pechmiller is a Minnesota actress I have had the opportunity to work with on many occasions. She is my frequent costar and long time friend. You can see her in the upcoming feature THE TELEPHONE GAME, and in the movie I directed WHY AM I IN A BOX?

Rachel: So, Lisa, you want to start by explaining how we know each other?

Lisa: You and I met on the set of the music video, "Seeing Double at the Triple Rock" by NOFX.

Rachel: That's right! NOFX wrote a song about our local bar, and the filmed the video here! We got we were cast as "sexy punk rock nuns." That was a fun night!

My latest blog at Monster Island News

So, it's been a while since my blog about the next Batman movie. I was going to respond to some of the comments and explain why I want to see an R-rated Batman sequel, but I'll save that for another time. Right now, I've got something else on my mind.

So, in case you missed it, Roman Polanski was finally apprehended after 32 years of evading justice for raping a 13 year-old girl...

I am going to be a regular model with Bare Excellence In Photography in Minneapolis, MN. If you want to shoot with me, but can't afford my rates, you can join this photo club for a chance to work with me for much less.

We already have our first meetup schedule for October 12.

I'll also be in Wisconsin for a couple workshops, and probably many more in the future. I'll also be available for booking private shoots while I'm out there.

The first is Bodies In Bondage on November 29th.

The second is a Nude workshop on December 6th.

My new project!  I'm flying out on October 14th to work on this movie.  I am playing Susan, the crazy wife.  They have already filmed the teaser trailer, and here it is!

Just wanted to share some news about a new horror flick I just wrapped shooting with NFTS Productions.  It's called Strip Club Slasher, and I play a stone cold stripper named Desiree Diamonds.

It also stars Scarlet Salem, Joe Knetter, Elske McCain, Saint DeVille, Joel D. Wynkoop, and many others.  Fangoria and Dread Central have already reported on it.  It will be coming out early next year.

I was interviewed for French website Cinema Fantastique!

My awesome Little Bro, who speaks French, gave me the following translation.  Editorial notes in [brackets.]

When there’s a lot, there’s some again. [I have no idea.]  Our writers, (and particularly the more prurient of us, Gore Sliclez) love to unearth scream queens [screaming beauties], even if we have to cross the world. So, when it’s a matter of foaming the land [?] in the middle of the states (Minneapolis, what’s that?), we cannot sit still. Here, then, is the ravishing Rachel Grubb who shows her attractive form as our Scream Queen of the week. Don’t even think about it, boys, she just got married.

Was it difficult to gain notoriety, being born in Minneapolis?

There’s an interesting question no one has ever asked me. It’s a little hard to answer, having nothing to compare it to. But I can say that there are a lot of opportunities in Minneapolis concerning the cinema. There’s a huge number of independent films and television shows filmed here and I work all the time. I had a recurring role as a barman, named Indie, on the new David Savage show No thanks to you. And I’m currently in the middle of filming a comedy titled The Manxes.

I also benefited from a little exposure in magazines and on websites outside of Minneapolis, a great opportunity. I am planning [I think “devrais” technically means “I would owe.” Basically, “I am slated to”] to co-produce and act in Haunting Kira, a horror film that will be filming next year in Las Vegas. The writer/director is Teresa Fahs with whom I’ve already worked when I was an invite of Xanadu of Las Vegas [context?]. I will also act in The last revenants alongside Cybil Danning, melantha Blackthorne, Suzi Lorraine and Brooke Lewis.

You seem to like the horror genre. What are your models in the skill? [Uh…what are your role models in the industry?]

I love the genre. I’m especially a fan of foreign horror films. I’m a huge fan of Dario Argento, and other gialli [giallo? Again. I don’t know your world.] Italians of the ‘70s. I appreciated a lot the recent releases from Asia, like Ju-On, Two Sisters or Memento Mori. I like the work of Cronenberg, too, and the French films that ‘I’ve recently seen, like Ils and Haute Tension

What is Silent-But-Deadly productions?

It’s an all-female independent film production company run by Brooke Lemke and myself. It’s a project we’ve launched since we had acted together before and we wanted to keep working together. We wanted to do films that included interesting female characters and work on these projects with other women in the industry.

You’re preparing to film “Strip Club Slasher.” What’s with that? [“Il s’agit” means “it’s a matter of,” so “what is that a matter of?” but I’m having some fun here.]

I play Desiree Diamonds, who is, as her name—or at least the film’s titles—indicates, a stripper. Desiree works on a night where she and her colleagues are pursued by a maniac. It’s produced by NFTS and I act alongside Scarlet Salem, Joe Knetter and others. Desiree is an attractive [almost…] character. Not a very sympathetic character, but she knows what she wants and how to get it.

You performed in Tales of the Dead with Landyn Banx and Scarlet Salem who you alsomet in Camp Kill. Are we seeing the birth of a family of actors in the Minneapolis independent scene?

Absolutely. In Minneapolis, we work a lot with the same people that we recommend for other roles. I suggested Landyn for Camp Kill, and I know that he had recommended Scarlett. The all worked together on Terror Overload, FNTS’s last film (the place that’s taking care of strip club slasher, too) in which I filmed [or possibly, which I directed. You’d know before me![. What this means is not only that we work with the same actors, but also for the same companies. …Terror overload is currently finished and it will be available on DVD soon.

Why do you like independent film so much?

I like the loyalty. If you work for a long time for an independent film maker for a little money, he’ll get to know you, Recognize you. The day they work on a bigger project, they’ll come back to you. I also appreciate working on independent films because it’s usually non-contract. Also, I really like working with people who are really passionate for cinema.

If you had to make the choice between your modeling career and acting, what would you choose? [Rachel: the original question was addressed to me as, "If you had to make the choice between acting and being a mannequin, what would you choose?"]

I would choose film. It’s the most creative thing that I can do. I like reading scripts and creating a character from the screenwriters words. And I also like interpreting new types of characters that I never have experienced before. If I’m stuck with a character with very few lines or who other people think isn’t very interesting, I do what I can to give them a soul and make them interesting. Some roles can let me use my talents and others, not. You have to make the most of each role that meets you.

I try to continue to get better. I was in some movies a few years ago and, contrary to what people tell me, as I watch, I see failure. It’s nice to be able to see it, because I know that I can do differently and how I can become a great actress.

Any words for our readers?

Continue to support independent cinema. We love to make our movies for the real horror fans.

Monster Island News has asked me to be a site contributor, and I graciously accepted.  My first post is up for all to see, and I hope you'll check it out.  It's about my hopes and expectations for the next Batman movie.

It's inevitable that it's going to happen--the third Batman movie. And since I don't know any more about contracts, negotiations, or what's going on in Nolan's head than anyone else, I'm going to tell you what I feel would make the next Batman movie a comic fan's dream...

This month, I decided to use my Scream Queen Column at the Chainsaw Mafia to express my thoughts on acting:

Since I don't live out in Hollywood, people ask me quite often about being an actor. What it's like, how I got into it, and if I have any advice. I meet people who say that "always wanted to get into acting," as if it's something they can't do because it's somehow too late.

I never wanted an "acting career." I just woke up one day and looked around and realized I had one, just from working hard and continuously moving forward. I have never been motivated by money or fame, and I don't think that you have to be for your work to mean something to you.
