Amalgama Records Presents:

Jeremy Ellis aka AYRO in Concert

Friday July 3, 2009

AYRO is a sonic chef who mixes ingredients from across the musical spectrum. The freestyle live set specialist, pianist, singer and MPC virtuoso sounds nothing like you've heard before. Audiences stand in awe while witnessing the joyful fury that is his performance style. His fans often resemble that of students as his wildly intelligent, yet unforgivingly danceable tracks perplex the most eager and adept melodic minds. Combining a lifetime of classical training with a meticulous obsession with sound, Ellis demonstrates himself as one of the forerunners of a new era in electronic music pushing instruments beyond their creators' intentions. He has been called the voice of Detroit's new sound and even acclaimed by Stevie Wonder himself. In a city with such important heritage as Motown and the birthplace of Techno he was awarded Best Electronic Artist 2009 by Real Detroit Magazine. Ayro has worked with such luminaries as Carl Craig, John Beltran, Recloose, John Arnold, Underground Resistance, Bugz in the Attic and Alton Miller to name a few. With poetic lyrical flow and melodic ingenuity combined with vintage sounds like the Rhodes piano and the Moog with raw sounds of the street through the earthly growl of the 808. Ayro's intrinsic use of the MPC has grown into a wild toad's ride that hasn't been seen since Hendrix non-chalant shredding of guitar licks with his teeth.

Dirtybird then turned into one of America’s most reputable events and label establishing itself with a unique and modern unmistakeable sound that has dominanted to international club scene the past 2 years. He also runs Anabatic Records, which was originally intended as an outlet for own music and quickly gained the praises of top DJs and Producers around the globe for its edgy new sound after a steady stream of high quality tech house releases. SATURDAY April 4

Mala(Digital Mysticz,DMZUK)

Digital Mystikz are dubstep pioneers - producers, DJs, label owners and promoters, they unleash a dense concentration of dubwise good vibrations. Mala began DMZ with his longtime friend Coki in South London, taking a shared love of jungle, dub, roots reggae, garage and house to form their own distinct style of music. The DMZ bi-monthly club night at The Mass in Brixton has become the central night for the dubstep scene, if not its spiritual centre. The pair are not only responsible for the most important rave of the scene but, alongside Loefah, own the flagship label DMZ. Now on its eleventh release, it has become a figurehead imprint. Mala’s incendiary solo DJ performances have brought the DMZ bass weight meditation around the globe. In 2008 he headlined the BBC Radio 1 showcase at Sonar as well as slots at a host of other festivals and a tour of Japan.
