Sooooo.... The CD release party was a huge success and we had a wonderful time. We only had one box of CDs which sold out, the place was packed with family, friends, and new faces, and OLIVIA was just the right place to do it! THANK YOU to everyone who made this possible. People are now asking us how to buy CDs - they will be in stores starting today and tomorrow in the Ithaca area (Greenstar, Guitar Works, Ludgate Farms, Ithaca Bakery, Collegetown Bagels, Small World Music, and pretty soon Barnes & Noble and Borders.) Online, you can buy them through ITown Records or CD Baby. You can also come to the Ticket Center at Clinton House where Yvette works and she'll sell you a copy personally! :-) We LOVE the new Wreckers CD....

We just got back from an action-filled trip to the Boston area to perform at the 10th Annual Healing Garden Music Fest on April 29, put on by the incredible Terry Eagan and Patio Records (www.patiorecords.com). We were lucky enough to A) Meet Terry Eagan finally, what an inspiring person! And B) sing harmonies with some truly amazing Canadian musicians like Terry Tufts, JP Cormier and The Laws... Look 'em up. Next shows coming up: A performance on May 13 at Ithaca's Alternative Community School to benefit ..>..> the Akwesasne Freedom School, which helps to sustain the Mohawk language and culture. There will be fry bread, daycare, crafts, and information about Native issues - Charisse and Yvette are looking forward to this in particular because they come from Mohawk ancestry (1/16 to be exact!) Also, we'll be performing at the Ithaca Festival on June 2 and have something special planned- upright bass and drums joining us! Listening to... I have to mention that I love, love, love Mary Lorson's record, Realistic. Love her! -Yvette

We've booked our first Boston area show! It's for a worthy cause (the creation and maintenance of "healing gardens" at area hospitals,) features a slew of talented Canadian folk artists, and is being held at the National Heritage Museum in Lexington, MA. For more info on the event, visit http://www.patiorecords.com/musicfest2006.html. Charisse and Yvette lived in Cambridge, MA a while back (Central Square baby!) In fact that's were they lived while working on Kevin Kinsella's record, ITown Revival. They've been wanting to get back to that area ever since Five2 began... BTW, pick up the new Cat Power record. The Greatest is probably the greatest song of the year.

Current mood: artistic
So, we're thrilled to say that the first 5 tracks of our record are nearly finished. Going into Electric Wilburland tomorrow to put the finishing touches on our vocals for those songs. They are: Sweet End Blood of Veins Pollen Broken, Still and Silent Next Stop Kevin Kinsella has been working really hard on production, and he recruited a slew of musicians to contribute. It's absolutely amazing to hear all of the ideas we tossed around being put into reality...upright bass, piano, drums, violin, cello, clarinet, among others... We're looking at a May 2005 release at this point. We're going to be playing a few shows before then, including Feb. 12 at Felicia's (pre-Valentines Day show!) and two dates at Maxie's in March and April. Perhaps we'll unveil some new material from the record... come and see! Five2

Five2 sang backups for the song "Last Dance" on 10 FT Ganja Plant's new release on ROIR Records, Bass Chalice. Other guests on the record are legendary 70s Jamaican vocal reggae group The Meditations! A dub & roots reggae band shrouded in mystery, 10 FT Ganja Plant hail from the great Northeast and are rumored to share members with another great reggae group, John Browns Body. "Refreshingly urgent and transcendentrarely has a reggae group ever appeared so accomplished in mixing orthodox roots reggae with modern dub creation." - The Beat For more info on Bass Chalice and 10 FT Ganja Plant, visit www.roir-usa.com/8294.htm
