since I hate the way myspace's blog is set up I'll be blogging elsewhere. I stopped posting to livejournal quite some time ago, though I had years of every day posts logged there. But I didn't know where to take the journal. I won't be posting every day but maybe once a week if anyone gives a shit.

Yes this means I'm on myspace, facebook, twitter and I have a blog now somewhere else too. ENOUGH ALREADY. ;)

The First Veggie Pride Parade in America will take place in Greenwich Village, New York City, on May 18, 2008. The procession will begin at 12 Noon in the Old Meat District (where 9th Ave., Gansevoort St., Greenwich St., and Little West 12th St. intersect). It will culminate in Washington Square Park (Eastern end), where a festival of rock music, speakers and exhibitors will take place. To see what's happening and all that, go to: veggieprideparade.org& I will be at the red carpet star-studded Farm Sanctuary Gala the night before, showing support of rescued farm animals! ecorazzi.com/2008/04/18/spend-a-celebrity-packed-evening-at-the-farm-sanctuary-gala-2008

I recently read Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead for the first time. I was surprised I had never attempted it before, as I enjoyed it very much. But it did take me 150 of the over 700 pages to even decide if I liked it. :)
I also recently read Haruki Murakami's The Wind Up Bird Chronicle and immediately went out and bought all his other books. but I don't want to read another one just yet because it gave me that weird unsettled feeling you only get after reading a really weird, but well-written book. and I wasn't ready to trade that feeling in for another similar one just yet.
Previous to that, I read Stumbling on Happiness by Daniel Gilbert, which I had put down and picked back up again numerous times because it freaked me out. It's non fiction and about how the mind works. which is really freaky if you only have a half-assed idea of how memory and our brain functions. he uses a combination of psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and philosophy to show that just as we err in remembering the past, so we err in imagining the future. yikes. it made me crazy, and unsure of myself. I'm totally used to being crazy but not used to being unsure of myself. which is why I kept losing it my apartment on purpose. but it's a GREAT book, albeit rather uncomfortable.
I am about to start reading Lying, by Lauren Slater, which was a gift from my sister. I stuck it in my bag this morning so it will get cracked open on the train within the next day or so. but then, I want to know what all of you are reading, to add some things to my list of "must reads." so...
what is YOUR favourite book of all time? one that changed your life? and what is your favourite book LATELY, that you've read within the last couple of years? And maybe, what is the book you would most want ME to read, if I haven't already? I am open to all genres, but just be aware, sci-fi is not my greatest love. ;)
Please discuss!
Thanks! :)

a short trip to spain has proven to me that 1. the metal scene in NYC is sadly, quite small and half dead, which I knew ever since certain places closed but hate to admit. 2. my spanish is much better than I thought! and 3. I am looking forward to returning to barcelona sometime and seeing the rest of the scene, since there was SO MUCH there, so many metal clubs and bars and shops and so many people to support it all. crazy! :)
