On our upcoming tour with Sir Richard Bishop And His Freak Of Araby Ensemble, we will have 2 new CD-Rs available for sale.

"Force Of Will" (OAX-001) is a raw, intense live recording.  2 of the tracks from this CD-R are on our page ("Are" and "Tokyo Lzrs").

"Immolation" (OAX-002) is a much more varied and eclectic group of Oaxacan recordings, highlighting many of the different things we do.  2 of the tracks from this CD-R are also currently on our page ("Ballast" and Tundra").

Both of these CD-Rs feature amazing individual, hand-stamped artwork created by Amy Friebertshauser.  Come by the merch booth during the tour, introduce yourself, and check these discs out!

Thanks

-Derek

I was very surprised and saddened today to learn of the death of Sun City Girls drummer Charles Gocher Jr.

I had known Charlie since the late '80s, when I lived in Tempe, AZ.  Getting to see and hear him play music and know him personally, I was continally inspired by his creativity, his passion, and his incredible mind.  Among many other things, the SCG have a unique and highly advanced sense of humor, and Charlie was the funniest guy in the band.

Last year, Oaxacan had the opportunity to spend some time with Charlie in Seattle.  He was clearly in a lot of physical pain, but his spirit and humor were very much in evidence.

There's a lot more I could say, but I'll leave it at this: Charlie Gocher was a great artist, a mentor to me (whether he knew it or not), and a tremendously unique and special man.

We have some CD-Rs for sale NOW at Aquarius Records in SF.

The 5 tracks on the disc were recorded at various times over the past year or so.
A couple of the tracks are currently on our myspace site as mp3s.

The covers and discs feature beautiful screen-printed artwork by Amy.
