In an hour-long, in-depth discussion yesterday, Edgar and Friedrich finally ceased fire in the struggle about the Alison rumours. In the last weeks, press coverage as well as fanpages led a mirror fencing rumour campaign, trying to make people believe Mardukh's synth man, Friedrich van Berkel, had fancied adoring Alison Goldfrapp. Traditionally, Mardukh frontman Edgar holds the monopoly on adoring her. Friedrich and Edgar now settled on Friedrich declaring his love for Alison being only of platonic nature, that is, folks, calm down, it's only for her, uhm, her voice, and the, yeah, the lyrics! Friedrich himself never gave up his deep adoration for Madonna, okay?

Oh dear,
demonic photographer Alexander Teinz once again managed to get a hold of Edgar and we had a good time taking pictures together, trying to catch the spirit of one of our favourite songs - the B.R.M.C.'s "Killing the light".
With all the hope, fear, darkness, and salvation besung in the song, Alexander decided to set up camp at a very special location - Berlin's former central Stasi prison. Please enjoy these first-look pix, and drop us a line!
And don't forget to check out Alex' other work on teinz.de!

Monsieurs Dames,
thanks for coming! We have just put online further material, previously only available only via our homepage www.mardukh.de. !!
Starting the tune party is "Without History Around", a first-impression demo from Mardukh Republic sessions. It's a tune Edgar has been writing on for almost two years, and although this is only the basic arrangement - one line of vocals, guitar, plus bass and drums, we think it very well captured the spirit of Edgar's endarkened vision of a future where people willingly pray to the false prophet Palmer Eldritch. Guess all of us sometimes get infected with the bite (of egomania, in Edgar's case), or with a good read like Phillip K. Dicks' novel that inspired the song and from which we borrowed the three stigmata of Eldritch. Still, there's actual contemporary reference - to climate change, to internet networking junkies, to pollution and German 'Konsumkapitalismus'.
Another track is Mardukh's former live classic "Hamster", a song about how to break female-male disbalances in the game of love; and a classic baggy beat to shake along to. Guitar fans might also enjoy the Coxon influenced axe solo, while non-Germ-o-phones might have trouble figuring out the lyrics...
Closing the wave is a preciously unreleased live recording from our fall 2004 unplugged set. "Gott der Stadt" is heavily influenced by Georg Heym's poem, its lyrics circling around the maelstrom that is our modern consumer society, random coupling in the heat of a teenage party, and the loss of purity, and dignity, and emotion. Beware: Bad audio quality!
Hoping to hear from you soon are
your warriors (cough) for poetry & purity Friedrich & Edgar

love? kill it. as soon as it moves. or embrace; and lose yourself. there, for just a minute. I'm trying to write a song just this very moment, you know; had the melody for months, the chord progression well-disguisedly stolen from an unreleased oasis demo, there's even lyrics finished now. But I can't seem to focus on the idea I want to express, and keep recycling thoughts from other songs. I think this would be good time to switch the whole Mardukh thing to Midi instrumentals; or to start with gangsta rap.

Dear inmates, we have just put up some first pix from our shooting with freelancer photographer Alex Teinz. I guess it's safe saying Teinz is one of the eye'est camera-wielders of Berlin, and we're especially happy to have had him around during the shooting of our 'Beauty' promo video - sometimes, a picture says more than 20 lines of bad rhyming ;)
So, please have a look at these stunning capturings of what 'Beauty' is all about while we finish postproduction duties!

hey everybody, I'm hope you're doing fine. While searching out records n stuff to bridge the time before our Beauty promo video release, we decided to release this special "classical" version of one of our favourites. Along the Shore. We think this new version really shows what we're up to musically, and can very well stand on its own. Maybe we'll do a little outtakes&alternatives section on our homepage in the future.
To keep you on the dot, Mardukh Republic writing has finished and we started the recording of guitar pilots and drum tracks while preparing Hamburg gigs for next year with Beck Events.

Dear Friends, we are in the lucky situation to proclaim our long-lasting drum defunct has an end for the moment. For the ongoing recording of our next album, the sure-to-blast Mardukh Republic, we have won seasoned band and session drummer Till Korn, for programming, as well as recording sessions. We also consider going onstage with 3-piece versions of the album songs. Furthermore, for composition as well as programming duties, we are happy to be joined by Arne Skorepa, formerly of The Stonehenge Mk. II, where he and Edgar played together in their high school years, and who also will develop a concept for a sophsticated homepage relaunch.
Stay tuned?
