The Return Of Club Choke (Rave On Avon, Room 2 @ Lakota) THIS SATURDAY!!! As part of Rave On Avon (the all night clubbing part of the epic Bristol Festival) Club Choke returns for one night only to host the 2nd Room at Lakota. 10pm - TAGTEAM CHOKE - The Sounds Of The Everything. 11pm - KILKA SERCO. Tearing you a new K-hole.
Midnight - BIG JOAN. Anthems for doomed youth culture. 1am - HUNTING LODGE. Chaos-prodding terminal ecstatic intensity. Guest vocals from TEAM BRICK.
Special Guest, DJ NADOONE, playing choons between bands.
EXCLUSIVE video installation from acclaimed piss artist EISENSTEIN NEWBOOTY. We will then hand over to Svengali, General Disarray etc for junglistic Mongrel sounds 'til our bellies call for breakfast.
Please note that Rave On Avon sold out last year. There's no guarantee that there'll be any tickets left on the door. The best course of action is to go to http://www.thebristolfestival.org/festival-2009/tickets and buy an all weekend wristband (incredibly good value, especially if you don't plan to sleep) or volunteer to help out for a bit so you get in for nothing. I'm taking Monday off work. See you down the front

Hello, February 2009 (which is now) is the tenth anniversary of our first gig. Or at least the first gig with our permanent lineup of Annette, Si, Adam and Keithstepper. Depending on who you believe it was either at Southampton Institute or Bar Cuba on St Mary's Street. It doesn't matter.
Anyway, to celebrate we have booked The Croft in Bristol on 11th April and are throwing a big party from 8pm until early Sunday morning. We will be playing for an hour and there will be band and DJ sets from some of our dearest friends.
Lineup coming soon!
Lots of love,
BIG JOAN

We've actually done something this week. We've recorded seven or possibly eight songs for our second album. No idea when we'll do the rest. Truly, this record is the Chinese Democracy of samba-industrial-bincore. With optional cow noises.
Thanks to Mr Ali Chant for his kindness, patience and good humour.

Current mood: horny
We finally have some studio time booked for September. Turns out it's the only month in 2008 that none of us are giving birth. Hopefully this means that we'll have a second album ready for release next year. About bloody time!
If you want some ranty, twitchy, anxiety-ridden bass-heaviness played by a bunch of overgrown teenagers before then and you're close to Bristol please come to The Junction (31st July) or The Croft (Bristol Festival, 20th September) where we will be plying our curious trade. We can't confirm that all our equipment will work but where's the fun in being reliable? Until then, may your God go with you and shield your loved ones from the horror.

Hi Everyone,
We are going to make a second album soon, honest.
We just haven't quite worked out how yet.
In fact as soon as we've convinced someone to give us studio time REALLY, REALLY, REALLY CHEAP we'll be sorted.
More news as it comes in.
Lots of love,
Big Joan

Just a quick one to say that you can listen to the first track off our new single HEREThe link it to a download of the latest Goatlab radio show presented by Parasite, Anarchist 606 and Anakissed. We're pretty sure it's the first time anyone's played it out!The new EP 'The Flood' will be out on Friday and features that track along with 'The Sucker's Bug' and remixes by My Ambulance Is On Fire, Shitmat, Parasite, Terry Edwards, Bronnt Industries Kapital and Twocsinak. The first place you can pick it up is at Timbuk2 (Bristol) on friday where we'll be playing as part of the first ever Goatlab club night. If you listen to the whole radio show (ENTIRELY RECOMMENDED!) you'll see exactly why you should go. It's going to be completely mental. The EP, out on Blood Red Sounds (CD) and Deathsucker Records (12" vinyl) will also be available at our London (saturday) and Cardiff (sunday) shows over the weekend and everywhere else we're playing over the next few weeksSee you soon!Lots of love,Annette / Adam / Keith / SimonB I G J O A N
