To begin the event this afternoon, the outgoing NBWA Heavyweight Champion, Issan Hadeev came to ringside and announced to everyone without the bennefit of internet access that he was infact leaving the world of professional wrestling and returning home to Iraq. The voice of the NBWA, Eric Loy then informed everyone that today the NBWA would be conducting an 8 man tournament to name a new Heavyweight Champion.
To begin the tournament, "The Apex" Blake Steel was scheduled to face off against his former tag team partner Eric Ruffington, but due to personal issues Ruffington had to back out of the tournament. But in his place, the NBWA Board of Directors inserted former NBWA Heavyweight Champion, Cecil Cerveza. Blake Steel won the opening round matchup via pinfall victory.
Winner: "The Apex" Blake Steel
In the second match of the opening round, "The Rage" Gavin Alexander faced off against the former NBWA Heavyweight Champion Da Cobra. In what many people considered an upset Gavin was able to defeat "The Man Without Fear" by pinfall after a running lariat clothesline.
Winner: "The Rage" Gavin Alexander
Next up in the opening round was another set of former Heavyweight Champions facing off, Vic "The Pitbull" Santelli was paired up with "The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler. Cutler was victorious in the match gaining a pinfall victory while his feet were being used as leverage on the ring ropes.
Winner:"The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler
In the final match of the first round "Fabulous" Jason V. and "Bloody" Harker Dirge locked horns once again, continuing their long running rivalry. After the originally announced 10 minute time limit had passed, noone had claimed victory, and with the urging of the NBWA crowd, The Board of Directors granted the two combatants 5 more minutes. Harker Dirge made the most of the additiona time by locking Jason V. in his patented "Dirt Nap" for the submission victory.
Winner: "Bloody" Harker Dirge
To kick off the semi final round of matches two former NBWA No-Limits Champions squared off in the form of "The Apex" Blake Steel against "The Rage" Gavin Alexander. "The Apex" was able to continue his winning ways gaining a second pinfall win. Immeadeatly following the match Steel was attacked by Nick Cutler with a chair taking a number of chairshots to the midsection.
Winner: "The Apex" Blake Steel
In the second semi final match two former NBWA Heavyweight Champions squared off against oneanother in the form of "Bloody" Harker Dirge and "The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler. Cutler was victorious once again getting a pinfall over Harker Dirge, setting up a match between himself and "The Apex" Blake Steel for the NBWA Heavyweight Championship later in the evening.
Winner: "The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler
Dissapointed with his performance in the tournament "Fabulous" Jason V. returned to ringside to annouce that it was not his intention to go home today without a win today, so he announced that he and his tag team partner Serenity would be wrestling in the triple threat Tag Team match set for this afternoon, making it a Fatal 4 Way Elimination match with the NBWA Tag Team titles hanging in the balance. So the champions were set to defend the titles against the teams of Cheapshot McGrot and Matty Montclam, Wild Bill and Nicky "The Weasel" Mankotti, and "Team Sexy" Aaron and Jeff. Cheapshot and Matty Montcalm were eliminated first when Jason V. pinned Matty. Then Wild Bill and Weasel were eliminated when Aaron pinned Weasel. That left "Absolutely Fabulous" and "Team Sexy" batteling for the Tag Team titles. In the end Aaron and Jeff were victorious in the match after Aaron clubbed Serenity in the back of the head with a forearm while she had Jeff locked up in a sleeper hold, and Jason V. was down on the outside of the ring.
New NBWA Tag Team Champions: "Team Sexy" Aaron & Jeff
In a special Heritage Wrestling Coalition Title vs Career match, HWC Champion Jimmy Karryt accepted the challenge of Cyclone with the stipulation that if Cyclone lost the match he would retire from wrestling. For a brief moment Cyclone had thought he had won the HWC title, but just as referee Carly Rae had counted the 3 count she noticed that Cyclone had his feet on the ring ropes and ordered the match to restart. After the match restarted Jimmy Karryt was able to regain controll of the match and won the match via pinfall following a frogsplash.
Winner and still HWC Champion: Jimmy Karryt
In the final match of the NBWA Tournament of Champions, "The Apex" Blake Steel and "The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler faced off for the NBWA Heavyweight Title. Before both men could get into the ring Cutler once again attacked Blake Steel from the backside and the two men battled eachother from one end of the arena to the other, fighting in the crowd and in the bleachers. Eventually referee Carly Rae was able to coax both men back into the ring so the match could get officially underway. After a long and grueling match "The Apex" Blake Steel was the winner of the match, after forcing Cutler to submit to the Texas Cloverleaf.
Winner and NEW NBWA Heavyweight Champion: "The Apex" Blake Steel
Following the match Blake Steel had said that this was the second greatest day of his life, and then introduced the fans to his newborn son, and dedicated the championship win to him.
In a special Lincoln's Challenge Main event, LCA's own instructor "The Enforcer" SGT. Bobby Jones faced off against Rantoul's own "Black Diamond" Aaron Paul. "The Enforcer" was the winner of the match via pinfall, but a mysterious masked man came to the ring and attacked "The Enforcer". Fortunately for Bobby Jones he was able to fend off his attacker much to the enjoyment of the Lincoln's Challenge cadetts. Winner: "The Enforcer" Sgt. Bobby Jones

In the 70 days in between the last NBWA show on October 3rd, and the net NBWA show on December 12th there have been a number of changes to the NBWA roseter, most notably the departure of the NBWA Heavyweight Champion, Issan Hadeev. Just days after winning the award for the NBWA's "Heel of the Year", and also winning an award for the NBWA's "Match of the Year", Issan Hadeev made the announcement via his Myspace page that he was walking away from the world of wrestling. When asked what brought about this sudden decision, the response was that Issan Hadeev was going on a quest for religious enlightenment. With that said, the NBWA's Board of Directors had the unenviable task of deciding how to handle the title vaccancy, that was fair to the NBWA roster, and entertaining to the NBWA's fans. After much deliberation, the decision was made that a brand new NBWA Heavyweight Champion would be crowned in Rantoul, IL on December 12th, via an eight man, single elimination tournament, to be called the NBWA's "Tournament of Champions". Included in this tournament would be representatives of the NBWA's past and present, with one common factor...they have all held NBWA gold at one time or another. With that being said here is a glance at the 8 men chosen to participate in the "Tournament of Champions" "The Man Without Fear" Da Cobra
In his long and storied career in the NBWA Da Cobra has held his fair share of NBWA titles, most recently being the biggest title of them all, the NBWA Heavyweight Title. Da Cobra cashed in the 2008 Alberta J. Murray Memorial Trophy in March 2009 for a title shot against the champion at the time, "Fabulous" Jason V. and held the heavyweight gold for 3 months until June 2009. Aside for the NBWA Heavyweight title, "The Man Without Fear" has also held the NBWA Midwest Title, and was a NBWA Tag Team Champion. "The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler
Nick Cutler has had the shortest NBWA career out of all 8 participants in the "Tournament of Champions", but make no mistake about it, Cutler has been groomed for greatness. Since his very first match in the NBWA Cutler has been in title contention. "The Prime Cut" made his NBWA debut on April 20th, 2008 in a Fatal 4 Way match for the NBWA Television Title, although he wasn't the winner that day, it wouldn't be long before he did claim NBWA gold. In January 2009 Cutler, in just his 4th NBWA match, defeated "The Apex" Blake Steel for the vacant NBWA No-Limits title. Although Cutler's No-Limits title reign only lasted 2 months, he had already set his sights on the biggest prize of them all, the NBWA Heavyweight Title. Just 3 months after loosing the No-Limits title, "The Prime Cut" was involved in a Fatal 4 Way Ladder Match at Lincoln's Challenge in June 2009, where he was the winner of the Heavyweight Title, but the win didn't come without controversy. Nick Cutler would go on to loose the NBWA Heavyweight Title on July 19, 2009 in a Triple Threat Match to Issan Hadeev. Vic "The Pitbull" Santelli
It has been MANY moon's, as they say since "The Pitbull" has had the NBWA Heavyweight Title around his waist, but it would certainly feel right at home along side the NBWA Mid-West Title which "Pitbull" currently holds. If Pitbull can win the "Tournament of Champions" it would make this the 3rd title victory in 6 months after claiming the No-Limits title in a 8 man Championship Challenge Match in July 2009, and then defeated Eric Ruffington on August 23rd in a match to unify the Mid-West Title and the No-Limits Title. In addition, Vic Santelli is also a former NBWA Tag Team Champion, holding the titles with fellow "Wise Guy" Pain Train. Eric RuffingtonIt's hard to think back to when Eric Ruffington wasn't wearing a NBWA Title Belt. Eric Ruffington is coming off of a nearly 8 month long reign as the NBWA's Mid-West Champion, in which he defeated Wild Bill for the title on January 11th, and held the title until August 23rd. Before that lengthy reign Ruffington had held the NBWA Heavyweight Title for five months from January 2009 until July 2009 when the fued between Eric Ruffington and "Bloody" Harker Dirge came to an end with a BHD title victory. "The Apex" Blake Steel
Blake Steel has spent much of the last year trying to escape from the shadows of "Feature Presentation" and his former partner Eric Ruffington, and what better way to do that than to claim the biggest prize in the NBWA? Although Steel is one of only 2 men in the tournament to NOT have ever held the NBWA Heavyweight, Blake Steel can claim that he has never been defeated for an NBWA title. On March 7th, 2009 Blake Steel got his first taste of NBWA gold with No-Limits title victory over Nick Cutler, but Steel's first and only NBWA title reign was cut short by a shoulder injury. NBWA's Board of Directors had no choice but to vacate the No-Limits title, meaning "The Apex" was never beaten for the No-Limits belt. The Board of Directors thought it was only fair to include "The Apex" Blake Steel in"The Tournament of Champions". "The Rage" Gavin Alexander
Gavin is the second of two wrestlers that have been invited into the "Tournament of Champions". But let us not forget that Gavin is much in the same boat as the previously mentioned Blake Steel, having been a No-Limits Champion, having his reign cut short by an injury. Gavin Alexander defeated the NBWA's "Slick Nick" in the Spring of 2007 in a Hardcore Match with the help of his GAW co-horts, J.C. Michaels, and Kenny O'Brien. Before Gavin could defend the No-Limits Title, he would be put on the shelves by doctors orders with a broken foot, Meaning that the NBWA would have to vacate the title. Although it's two and a half years later, the NBWA has rewarded Gavin's patience with a shot at the top prize in the NBWA. "Fabulous" Jason V.
Whether you remember his as "The Inspiration of Innovation" or "Fabulous", you simply cannot have a "Tournament of Champions" without Jason V. The NBWA's championship history books have many pages with the name Jason Vendetta written upon them. From the early days of the NBWA when Jason Vendetta was one half of "Wrestling Redefined" with Aaron Matthews, and a No-Limits Champion on top of a 2 time Alberta J. Murray Memorial Tournament winner. More recently Jason V. has become "Fabulous" and has held the NBWA Tag Team Titles with a new partner, Serenity" but all those title pale in comparison to the title victory "Fabulous" had on Jan. 1st 2009 when he defeated "Bloody" Harker Dirge to become the NBWA Heavyweight Champion. Although he had a bit of help form Serenity, and a pipe wrench, to win the grand-daddy of them all, "Fabulous" Jason V. is more than qualified to be included in "The Tournament of Champions" "Bloody" Harker DirgeHarker Dirge is arguably the most popular and beloved NBWA star of all time, bringing NBWA fans to their feet time and time again. But this fan favorite has more than just the fans behind him when he enters the "Tournament of Champions" , Harker also has a long and storied NBWA Championship history. Not only has BHD held the NBWA Heavyweight Title, but the NBWA Mid-West Title and was one half of the NBWA Tag Team Champions with Cheapshot McGrot, under the disguise of Noon Moon. Come December 12th, Harker Dirge will have the NBWA fans at his side, but it will take much more than cheers of the fans to win 3 matches against the top title contenders in NBWA history. How will the NBWA's "Tournament of Champions" pan out? Will we finally see a "Fabulous" Jason V. vs "Bloody" Harker Dirge rematch with the NBWA Heavyweight Title on the line? Will we finally see Eric Ruffington get into the ring with his former partner Blake Steel ? Or will DaCobra, Vic "The Pitbull" Santelli, or Nick Cutler regain the NBWA Heavyweight Title? Will the underdog in the whole tournament, Gavin Alexander pull off an upset and win his first NBWA Heavyweight Title? There is only one way to find out exactly how the "Tournament of Champions" pans out, be there live and in person! The show is scheduled for Saturday, Dec 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Lincoln's Challenge Academy in Rantoul, IL! Also scheduled for Dec 12th..... The big rematch that was announced at the NBWA Awards ceremony, is "Super" Jimmy Karry vs Cyclone. Although the stakes are much bigger this time, than they were the last time these two met, it should be a barn burner! Jimmy Karryt will be defending the Heritage Wrestling Coalition Title against "The Unpredictable" Cyclone's mask and wrestling career! "Absolutely Fabulous" will be defending their NBWA Tag Team Titles against not one, not two, but THREE tag teams. Yes, thats right a Fatal 4 Way Tag Team match for the NBWA Tag Team Titles. "Absolutely Fabulous" vs "Aaron and Jeff" vs Cheapshot McGrot and Cecil Cerveza, vs Wild Bill and Nicky "The Weasel" Mankotti. Finally...What is being billed as a speacil attraction "Light's Out" main event, will pit Lincoln's Challenges very own instructor, "The Enforcer" Sgt. Bobby Jones will accept the challenge of another Rantoul native, making his professional wrestling debut " The Black Diamond" Aaron Paul! Come and see all this....10 Huge Matches....3+ hours of professional wrestling at it's best for just $5.00 per person* * If you print out this flier and present it at the door you can receive $1.00 off the $6.00 admission

The 2009 NBWA Year End Award Ceremony was a very quaint and intimate affair, which was quite fitting in regards to the year as a whole. The ceremony was a time for reflection, celebration, and more importantly an opportunity to look forward to the future of the NBWA. The ceremony's first award handed out was for the NBWA's "Personality of the Year". The nominee's for the award were last years winner of the award, Eric Loy, "The Don" Kato Morales, Miss Amanda, Serenity, and Jon Castle. The winner of the 2009 NBWA Personality of the Year
Jon Castle
The next award for 2009 was the NBWA Outstanding Achievement Award, given out to the NBWA star that has went above and beyond all expectation, not only in the current year, but in their entire wrestling career. There were no nominee's for this prestigious honor, just the winner was announced, and that was former NBWA referee, and current WWE referee Justin King. Unfortunately Justin wasn't able to attend the ceremony live and in person but thanked "The Don", and all the NBWA wrestlers, and fans via cell phone for all their love and support. 2009 Outstanding Achievement Award Justin King
(Photo courtesy of Melissa Castle) Next up was the 2009 NBWA Horizon Award, given to the NBWA star that has had a standout year, and is poised to continue well into the future. The nominee's for this award were last years winner, "Hero of the Day" Danny McKay, "Super" Jimmy Karryt, Vic "The Pitbull" Santelli, and "The Unpredictable" Cyclone. 2009 NBWA Horizon Award Winner Jimmy Karryt
After the award was given an upset Cyclone confronted Jimmy Karryt calling a recent loss to Karryt a fluke win, and challenged Karryt to a rematch at the next NBWA event on December 12th in Rantoul. Not only will the Heritage Wrestling Coalition title be on the line but Cyclone said that if he cannot defeat Karryt he will unmask and retire from wrestling! The next award given was the 2009 NBWA "Fan Favorite" award. The nominee's for this years award were: Angelo Santelli, "Bloody" Harker Dirge, Cheapshot McGrot, and DaCobra. 2009 NBWA Fan Favorite Angelo Santelli
(Photo courtesy of Melissa Castle) Unfortunately Angelo couldn't attend the ceremony, but the award was accepted on his behalf by his brother Vic "The Pitbull" Santelli. Next up was the very first ever, "Did That Just Happen?" Award. This award is given to the most unforgettable moment of the past year. The nominee's are the wrestling fan MOAV doing "The Chicken Dance", Nicky "The Weasel" Mankotti's dropkick on Gavin Alexander and somehow Weasel managed to clothesline himself on the ring ropes in the process, and DaCobra's missed 630 Splash on "The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler, that nearly broke DaCobra's neck. 2009 Did That Just Happen Award Winner Nicky "The Weasel" Mankotti

Next up was the 2009 NBWA Heel of the Year award given to the top "bad guy" in the NBWA. Nominee's for this category were Eric Ruffington, Issan Hadeev, "Fabulous" Jason V. and the tag team of Aaron and Jeff. 2009 NBWA Heel of the Year Issan Hadeev
The next piece of hardware handed out was for the 2009 match of the year in the NBWA. The nominee's for this award were the 2009 NBWA Invitational Battle Royal, Jason Vendetta vs DaCobra in a Ladder Match for the 2008 Alberta J. Murray Memorial Trophy. Issan Hadeev's overall 5 match performance in the 2009 Alberta J. Murray Memorial Tournament, ( Issan vs Kahagas, Issan vs Cecil Cerveza, Issan vs Vic "The Pitbull" Santelli, Issan vs Angelo Santelli, and Issan vs Nick Cutler) and DaCobra vs Kahagas. 2009 NBWA Match of the Year Issan Hadeev AJM Performance
Next up was the award for the best feud in the NBWA during 2009. Nominee's were "Fabulous" Jason V. vs "Bloody" Harker Dirge, Eric Ruffington vs Blake Steel, Issan Hadeev vs "Dangerous" Drew Thomas, and Aaron vs Jeff. 2009 Feud of the Year "Fabulous" Jason V. vs "Bloody" Harker Dirge
Finally, the award given to the top NBWA wrestler for 2009, the NBWA's Wresler of the Year Nominee's were... "Bloody" Harker Dirge, Issan Hadeev, Angelo Santelli, DaCobra, and "The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler. 2009 NBWA Wrestler of the Year "Fabulous" Jason V.
After all the awards had been handed out "Bloody" Harker Dirge asked for the minute of everyone's time, he had a few announcements to make first and foremost he recalled back to last years ceremony when he alluded to The Honky Tonk Man making an apperance in the NBWA at the Legends show in December of 2008 (available on DVD, message me for more information). Well, Harker informed everyone in attendance that The Honky Tonk Man will infact be returning to the NBWA on Jan. 23rd when the NBWA makes it's way to Atwood, IL! Then Harker Dirge challenged the NBWA Heavyweight Champion Issan Hadeev to a Heavyweight Title match, a year removed from to the match they had last year in the exact same building, when Harker defeated Issan to become the NBWA Heavyweight Champion and the Heritage Wrestling Coalition Champion. Harker gave Issan the option to choose the match stipulation, but Harker wanted to face Hadeev one more time! So there it is, we have two matches announced for the NBWA's return to action on December 12th at Lincoln's Challenge in Rantoul. HWC ChampionJimmy KarrytvsCyclone and NBWA Heavyweight Champion Issan Hadeev vs "Bloody" Harker DirgeAlso don't forget to mark your calendars for the return of the Honky Tonk Man to the NBWA on Jan. 23rd in Atwood, IL. Stay tuned to the NBWA for more details as they become available!

Unfortunately, the NBWA has made the "official" announcement today that the event scheduled for Sunday, September 13th has been canceled.
This does NOT mean that the NBWA is closing it's doors, rather, it means that new doors will be opening. According to "The Don" the NBWA is currently in negotiations with a different venue to hold NBWA wrestling events.
I will promptly post more information as it becomes available.
Once again the NBWA would like to apologize to it's fans. We are working to solve this venue delima as quickly as possible.

In the opening contest, Aaron and Jeff defeated the team of "Dangerous" Drew Thomas and Wayne Shocker when Jeff scored a pin fall over Drew. Drew Thomas had Aaron locked in a "sharp shooter" when Jeff entered the ring and hit Drew with a swinging neckbreaker. The referee unsure who was the legal man in the match allowed Jeff to cover DDT for the 3 count. New Heritage Wrestling Coalition Champion, Matt Cage came to the ring and boasted about how he broke Angelo Santelli's shoulder in five places last Saturday at GAW, and now Angelo will require reconstructive shoulder surgey to fix the damage. Cage then issued an open challenge to "whichever jackoff wants to face me". Simply Divosi answered Cage's challenge in an attempt to avenge his best friend Angelo. Divosi was victorious in the match, but alas it was a win by disqualification when Matt Cage hit Divosi with his golf club. Shepard Sharp shocked the NBWA fans in attendance by getting a pin fall victory over "The Dominican Prince" Cecil Cerveza. Cecil was going to go for a "Roll the Dice" but Shepard was able to block it, then turn Cecil around and had him in position for a backslide, Cecil was able to fight it momentarily, that is until Shepard kicked Cecil in the nether regions. Cecil went down in the backslide for a 1...2...3. Danny McKay and Cheapshot McGrot locked horns this afternoon in Indianola. Renewing somewhat of an old rivalry from a many months back when the two had battled in many tag team matches when Cheapshot was 1/2 of The World's Greatest Masked team, and McKay was a member of The Killer Bee's. In this afternoon's battle Cheapshot was the winner scoring a pin fall victory over McKay following a "mcgillicutty". In their first defense of the NBWA Tag Team Titles, "Fabulous" Jason V. and Serenity had their hands full with the tag team of "The Irish Playboy" Justin Clark and "Super" Jimmy Karryt. Jason V. and Serenity were victorious in their first defense getting a win via submission when Justin Clark tapped out to Jason V's finisher "The Claim to Fame". In the main event for the afternoon, The new NBWA Heavyweight Champion, Issan Hadeev was to face off against the new Mid-West Champion Vic "The Pitt Bull" Santelli, with only the Heavyweight Title on the line. This match saw some brutal action both inside and outside of the ring, as these two heavy hitters battled it out for the top prize in the NBWA. It looked as though Pit Bull was going to pull off the win when he was going for his finishing move, the "Lock Jaw". Pit Bull hit Hadeev with the knee to the head, but as Pit Bull was winding up for the big lariat, Hadeev ducked and rolled up Pit Bull from behind for the 3 count.

In the
opening contest, Aaron Mathews defeated "Super" Jimmy Karryt via pin
fall following a modified version of The Don's, signature maneuver "The Burial"
. Next
up was the big rematch from Rantoul, IL between the Heritage Wrestling
Coalition Champion, Angelo Santelli, and the current GAW Heavyweight
Champion, Matt Cage. Late in the match Angelo was able to his his
finishing manuver, the "Sky High", but due to the extreme heat, and
exhaustion, was unable to go for a cover. As referee Nick Jones has
just about reached a 10 count, Matt Cage had rolled out of the ring,
and Santelli had gotten to his feet. Matt Cage would ignore the
referee's 10 count, and had gotten himself counted out of the match.
Matt Cage then promptly went to the announce table and told the fans in
Atwood, that he refused to finish out the match, because it was at a
NBWA Event, and it was "Angelo's Comfort Zone". So Cage issued a
challenge for Santelli to meet him in Maroa, IL at a GAW event later in
the evening so the two could fight in Matt Cage's home turf. Angelo
Santelli accepted the challenge because " he wasn't going out like
that". Angelo the invited everyone in attendance to follow him to Maroa
to see the rest of Matt Cage's ass whoopin.
Winner by count out: Angelo Santelli
Jeff Harris defeated Cecil Cerveza via pinfall
The returning Wayne Shocker defeated "Fabulous" Jason V. via disqualificatio..n
when Aaron and Jeff came to the ring and attacked Shocker. It wasn't
long before Cecil Cerveza and Jimmy Karryt came to the ring in the aid
of Shocker.
"The Don" then ordered a 6 man tag team match as the
main event. The team of "Fabulous" Jason V. with Aaron and Jeff against
the team of Jimmy Karryt, Cecil Cerveza, and Wayne Shocker. Just
moments into the match Jason V. had gotten into an argument with a fan
at ringside, lost his temper and slapped the fan. Local law enforcement
was on hand, and arrested Jason V., leaving Aaron and Jeff in a
handicap match between Cecil, Karryt, and Shocker. In the end, the team
of Cecil Karryt and Shocker was victorious after Karryt hit a "Frog
Splash", Shocker hit an elbow from the top rope, and Cecil hit a "Roll
the Dice" all on Aaron Mathews.
Winners by pinfall: "Super" Jimmy Karryt, Wayne Shocker, and Cecil Cerveza

Before we begin with the
recap, thanks as always to the great NBWA fans that continually come
out in support of NBWA Wrestling. As a "Thank You" to all the great
fans we will be having another absolutely FREE event at 3:00 on
Saturday August 22nd in Indianola, IL.
As the show gets under way we hear "Hangin Tough" by The New Kids on
the Block, which can only mean one thing, that Aaron and Jeff are
making their way to the ring. Jeff asks for the microphone and begins
to address Aaron. Jeff claims that Aaron has been spending more time
focused on Aaron lately, and not on the tag team. Jeff challenges
Aaron to a match, and Aaron agrees to the match, just as long as
their is one stipulation...."No shot's to the face! Because we are too
sexy and pretty". Aaron and Jeff begin the match, and from the onset
it seems that it will be a cleanly contested match between two friends,
but halfway through the match things start to get a little ugly when
Aaron sends Jeff head first over the top rope and out onto the floor.
Jeff gets back into the ring and begins to argue with Aaron and then
the two begin to exchange punches to the face. The former Tag Team
Champions battle back and forth until Aaron catapults Jeff face first
into the ring post, and gets the pin with both feet on the middle rope
for leverage.
Winner by pin fall : Aaron Matthews.
After the match is over, Wild Bill's theme music begins to play and
Bill makes his way to the ring, much to the enjoyment of the NBWA fans
who chant "Welcome Back". Wild Bill takes the mic and reminds the NBWA
fans that back in February he was attacked by Jeff & Aaron from
behind, and then tossed out of the ring, and onto the floor causing a
shoulder injury that had sidelined Bill for 5 months. Bill is back at
the NBWA Arena today looking for some retribution and challenges both
Jeff and Aaron to a match, but before they could answer Jon Castle
steps in and awards Bill his match, a Gauntlet Match, if Bill can
defeat Jeff, he then gets his shot at Aaron!
In Wild Bill's first match back against Jeff, he showed little or no
sign's of "ring rust" as Bill wrestled his former partner. Bill made a
rather impressive return to the NBWA ring, making relatively quick work
of Jeff. To finish Jeff off, Bill hit the "Sidewinder" for the pin
fall.
Winner by pin fall: Wild Bill
After defeating Jeff, Bill now had his hands full with the much more
cocky and arrogant Aaron. The match started off with Aaron getting the
better of Wild Bill, but not for long. Bill battled back and
eventually got the win over Aaron as well. Making it a clean sweep of
the former NBWA Tag team Champions.
Winner by pin fall: Wild Bill
Next up on the card is the red hot rookie, Jimmy Karryt taking on "The
Unpredictable" Cyclone. This match, featuring two of the most athletic
stars the NBWA has to offer, was one of the most exciting, matches of
the afternoon that had the fans on the edge of their seats as these two
high fliers battled back and forth. In the end, Jimmy Karryt was the
victor, getting a three count following a frog splash from the top rope.
Winner by pin fall: Jimmy Karryt.
Before the next match, Jon Castle enters the ring and makes the
announcement that due to a recent shoulder injury, the NBWA No-Limits
Champion, Blake Steel would be unable to compete, and thus the NBWA's
Board of Directors had no choice but to strip "The Apex" of the
No-Limits Title, and proclaim the championship vacant. So, with the
No-Limits title up for grabs, the Board of Directors put together an 8
Man Championship Challenge Match involving "Fabulous" Jason V., "The
Irish Playboy" Justin Clark, Vic "The Pit Bull" Santelli, Aaron, Jimmy
Karryt, Jeff, Wild Bill, and Cyclone. The rules of the match are that
two men begin the match inside the ring, and if one of them leaves for
any reason, then anyone one of the other competitors may enter the ring
as the legal man. Having said that, the match was under way, with
Jason V. and Justin Clark beginning the match, after that I completely
lost track of who was in and who was out, with all the action going on
inside the ring, the quick in and out's of all the combatants. When
the smoke cleared on this match, Vic "The Pit Bull" Santelli was
standing tall as the winner of the match, getting a pin fall victory
over Jeff following a "Lock Jaw".
Winner by pin fall, and new NBWA No-Limits Champion: Vic"The Pit Bull" Santelli
After the match was over Eric Ruffington and Anderson Rhodes come to
the ring and acknowledge the history between Rufington and Blake Steel,
but Ruffington says that "Pit Bull" isn't even on Blake's level, and
Pit Bull doesn't deserve to be called a champion, then slaps Vic in the
face and call's him a b*tch, and walks away from the ring.
Next up Issan Hadeev comes to the ring to speak his mind. Issan claims
that the NBWA fans no longer have any "heroes", with "Bloody" Harker
Dirge turning his back on the fans and leaving the NBWA, and then
Harker Dirge's entrance music begins to play, but there is no Harker
Dirge. Apparently it was a trick set up by Issan Hadeev who then said
that he had the NBWA fans in the palm of his hand. Issan says that he
will be the next NBWA Heavyweight Champion and that the fans should all
praise him! DaCobra comes to the ring and asks how he plans on beating
Cutler, when he couldn't even last four seconds with him at the last
show, and DaCobra declares that he will regain the NBWA Heavyweight
Title!
After a brief intermission, Jon Castle has a couple of updates for the
NBWA crowd, #1, the Cubs were beating the Nationals 8-2 in the 4th
inning, #2) The Board of Directors had decided that there was going to
be a title unification match this afternoon between Vic "The Pit Bull"
Santelli and Eric Ruffington, and #3) it's time for the American Idol
Showdown between "Fabulous" Jason V. ,who is accompanied by Serenity
and Cheapshot McGrot. Before the showdown starts, we meet the three
judges, Lovely Miss Amanda, referee Chad Tally, and the NBWA Mid-West
Champion, Eric Ruffington. The singing part of the challenge is up
first and Cheapshot McGrot chooses to perform the Michael Jackson hit,
"The Way You Make Me Fell" and seemed to be directing the words to
Serenity. Cheapshot received positive reviews from both Miss Amanda,
and Tally, but Ruffington wasn't impressed with the performance.
Next, Jason V. and Serenity performed the song "My Humps" by The Black
Eyed Peas, which I must say seemed to entertain the crowd at the NBWA
Arena as well as Eric Ruffington, but Miss Amanda and Chad Tally
didn't think too highly of the performance.
Now onto the dancing portion of the competition, Cheapshot pulled yet
another classic Michael Jackson hit out of the archives performing the
Thriller dance that NBWA fans have seen many times in the past, and
drew rave reviews from Miss Amanda and Chad tally, but Ruffington said
the the performance was " a little dead".
Jason V. followed up by dancing to a Britney Spears hit, that of was
LOVED by Eric Ruffington who requested an encore performance, while
Miss Amanda and Chad Tally didn't think quite as highly of the
performance.
Finally, when it came down to the crowd's vote, Cheapshot McGrot was
the clear winner of the American Idol Showdown, but Jason V. demanded a
recount, and when polled again, the crowd had thought that Cheapshot
was the winner. So, according to a previously agreed upon stipulation
Jason V. lost the right to have a Tag Team Championship Match against
Cheapshot, but "The Don" chimed in with his opinion. "The Don" being
the owner of the NBWA decided that his vote was the only vote that
counted today, and Jason V. would in fact get a shot at the NBWA Tag
Team Titles, with Serenity as his partner, BUT....Due to Cecil Cerveza
being locked up in a Dominican Jail, it would be a handicap match, and
then Jason V. snickered, and proclaimed that "all it took was a phone
call".
So let the match begin between "Fabulous" Jason V. and Serenity versus
Cheapshot McGrot with the NBWA Tag Team Titles on the line. Jason V.
spent much of the match wrestling as Serenity looked on, but was there
as always to lend her support vocally, that is until the end of the
match when she entered the ring to break up a pin fall attempt. It
appeared that Cheapshot was going to hit Serenity for what she had
done, but he landed a great big kiss on her instead. While this was
going on, Jason V. he wrapped a metal chain around his hand, and when
Cheapshot turned around he was decked with a BIG right hand from Jason
V. Not seeing any of this going on, referee Chad Tally counted the
pin fall, 1...2...3!
Winners and NEW NBWA Tag Team Champions: "Fabulous" Jason V. and Serenity
Next up is the match to unify the NBWA No-Limits Title, and the NBWA
Mid-West TV Title between the newly crowned No-Limits Champion, Vic
"The Pit Bull" Santelli and the Mid-West TV Champion Eric Ruffington. This
match had all the makings for a classic, and it sure didn't disappoint!
The match went back and forth the entire way and in the end it seemed
as thoughRuffington had the match won with his European Sleeper hold, but Pit Bull was able to hang on but for a brief moment, but then Ruffington was going to go right in to the cravate that he had been using to put opponents away with, but Santelli blocked it and rolled Ruffington up with a small package for the 3 count!
Winner by pin fall and the NEW NBWA Mid-West No-Limits Champion :Vic "The Pit Bull" Santelli
Following the match Anderson Rhodes and Eric Ruffington assaulted Pit Bull with Rhodes's cane and walked out of the NBWA arena with "Ruffington's title" ( the Mid -West TV Title) and left Pit Bull lying in the ring with the No-Limits title.
Now it is time for the Triple Threat Main Event pitting challengers, Issan Hadeev, and DaCobra against the NBWA Heavyweight Champion, "The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler. This match was an absolute barn burner, and clearly a Match of the Year candidate as all three men battled with everything in their being to become the NBWA
Heavyweight Champion! This match had high flying action, ground and
pound fighting, submission holds, action inside the ring, outside the
ring, bloodshed, and drama...boy, was there drama. In the closing
moments of the match up,Issan Hadeev was fighting DaCobra in the corner of the ring and Issan pulled back to land a right hand on DaCobra when he accidentally elbowed referee Chad Tally in the face knocking him to the mat. Cutler took this opportunity to get the Heavyweight Title and used it as a weapon to hit DaCobra in the head busting DaCobra's forehead wide open. Cutler then did the same to Issan, but by the time Tally had come to, Issan Hadeev was able to kick out of the pinfall at 2 and 3/4. Cutler then jumped on top of the bloodied Cobra and again, only gotten a two count. Issan Hadeev
who was still dazed from the belt shot to the head had rolled out of
the ring as Cobra and Cutler continued to fight. Cobra was able to get
the upper hand in the match and hit his signature flying knee, and then
pointed towards the other turnbuckle and asked the crowd "am I going
up?" and the crowd began a "six-three-ooooo" chant and DaCobra made the
climb to the top rope and began the 630 splash, but at the very last
second Cutler moved out of the way and Cobra landed flush on the top of
his head. Everyone is theNBWA Arena fell silent as they had seen one of the most sickening sights anyone could ever witness. Issan Hadeev with only winning the NBWA
Heavyweight Title on him mind, kicked a still dazed Nick Cutler out of
the ring, and went for the cover on the motionless Cobra. Referee Chad
Tally seemed to pause momentarily, contemplating to make the count or
stop the match, counted the cover 1..2..3!
Winner by pin fall and NEW NBWA Heavyweight Champion: Issan Hadeev
After the bell sounded everyone's attention was on the still motionless Cobra as Nicky Mankotti entered the ring to see what he could do. Everyone in the crowd was silent, waiting for a sign that Cobra was OK, that was until Issan Hadeev
picked him up and kicked him back down to the mat, and then proclaimed
that he had won the match, and we should be cheering for HIM! Issan Hadeev collected his newly won NBWA Title and returned to the dressing room as Tally helped DaCobra to his feet, and was able to walk out of the NBWA Arena under his own power.
I have since talked with Cobra and he has assured me that he is OK, a
bit sore from the fall, but he will be OK and be back in action soon.
Thanks once again to all the fans for their continued support. The NBWA wouldn't be what it is today without the loyalty and support of it's fans!
THANK YOU!

The NBWA would like to thank the town of Potomac for letting us put on our show for your annual freedom Festival. It's both an honor and a privilege to be a part of such a big event! Unfortunately we wish the show would have gone off without a hitch, but due to thunderstorms that afternoon the beginning of the show was delayed for a little over an hour, but that didn't stop the stars of the NBWA, or the great fans we have in Potomac!
The show was kicked off with the ring announcer for the day, Miss Carrie Shaw, welcoming all the fans in attendance to another edition NBWA Championship Wrestling. We jump head first into a NBWA Heavyweight Title match between the challenger, Jimmy "24" Karryt, and the champion, "The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler. The match started off with a quick series of school bot roll up's from Karryt trying to catch the champ off guard but they were to no avail, as it only seemed to anger Cutler. Cutler answered back with a vengence as he was looking to make the young Jimmy Karryt pay for making the champ look vulnerable. Cutler pummeled Karryt for the middle part of the match, but Karryt nearly hit one of his trademark maneuvers, The Super Kick, but luckily for Cutler he was able to dodge that bullet, and shortly after Karryt went for a split leg moonsault, but Cutler brought his knee's up to Karryt's midsection to knock the wind out of the rookie. Cutler then hit his finishing maneuver "The Prime Finish" (a standing leg drop to the back of the head) on Karryt, but then not happy with just one, Cutler took it upon himself to give Karryt a second "Prime Finisher" for good measure. Cutler covered Karryt for the three count and the win.
Winner by pinfall: The NBWA Heavyweight Champion "The Prime Cut" Nick Cutler
Next on the card was a singles match up between the former NBWA Heavyweight Champion "Dangerous" Drew Thomas and the former No-Limits Champion, "Hero of the Day" Danny McKay. The match started off as a popularity contest as DDT and McKay tried to see who the crowd favored more, but it was a no contest, the crowd was totally behind Drew. When the match finally got under way it was a very exciting wrestling match that saw many classic wrestling moves like wrist locks, waist locks, a belly to back suplex, and they even went Grecko-Roman and even took turns getting into the clinch position. As the match continued it looked as though Drew was going to get a victory with a small package, but McKay was able to roll it over and put Drew's shoulders to the mat for a three count.
Winner by pinfall: "Hero of the Day" Danny McKay
Following the match DDT and referee Chad Tally got into quite a heated argument over weather or not Drew had gotten his shoulder up at the last minute, but Tally wouldn't hear any of it. Danny McKay was the winner!
Next up was the introduction of Aaron Matthews who had come to the ring with a rain poncho on that he was happy to tell the crowd that he had bought at the local "Kasey's" general store so that he would not have to get his "Pretty & Sexy" body wet from all the rain that afternoon. Aaron's opponent for the afternoon was the debuting Eric Marx. In the opening moments of the match Aaron insisted on wrestling with the rain poncho still on, but all it took was Marx to lock up with Aaron for Aaron to realize that wrestling with a rain poncho on wasn't very practical! So Aaron rolled out of the ring so he could have a chance to remove it, but Marx was right on his tail. The match continued on the outside of the ring and eventually found it's way onto the trailer that was used to haul the NBWA ring to Potomac. After Marx gave Matthews a vertical suplex onto the trailer, the two combatants found their way back into the ring where that action continued. Both Marx and Matthews had shown plenty of offense in the match, and it looked as though Eric Marx was going to finish off Aaron with a moonsault from the top rope, but Marx took a little too long to get into position and Matthews was able to move out of harms way, and then Matthews was the one who took to the top rope. Aaron Matthews hit his finishing maneuver, "The Shooting Star Press" and claimed a victory over Eric Marx.
Winner by pinfall: Aaron Matthews
Next up was a match between "Fabulous" Jason V and 'The Irish Playboy" Justin Clark. These two former allies were getting set to do battle when Jason V. locked Playboy in a reverse waist lock, and seemed to enjoy the hold just a little too much, but Playboy was able to escape the hold with a disgusted look on his face and asked Jason "What are you doing", and Jason V. responded by batting his eyelashes playfully. Then it was down to business, well as close to "business" as you can get with the bizzare new attitude of "Fabulous" Jason V. Throughout the match Playboy relied on his size and strength to gain the upperhand over Jason V. with a scoop slam, a bear hug, and a full nelson powerbomb, and Jason V. used his mat wrestling techniques and wrestling holds to wear down the Irish Playboy. Utilizing a bear hug of his own....no no use.... a reverse chin lock, and a sleeper hold. But in the end there is always one hold you have to lookout for from Jason V., "The Claim to Fame", and in the end, it was that hold that spelled the end for Justin Clark. Jason V. locked in the finishing maneuver, and Playboy had no choice but to tapout.
Winner by submission: "Fabulous" Jason V.
For the main event of the afternoon, "The Unpredictable" Cyclone was challenging one half of the NBWA Tag Team Champions, Cecil Cerveza. Before the match could get under way Cyclone wanted to address the fans in Potomac, demanding that they all stand up and show Cyclone the respect that he deserved! Needless to say after the insults Cyclone was hurling twards the fans in Potomac, he wasn't going to get one bit of respect from the crowd. The match was an action packed main event that showcased two of the most under rated stars in the NBWA. But unfortunately, we weren't able to get a clean winner in the match because as Cecil was going for a cover after a head-butt from the top rope, Jason V. and Aaron Matthews attacked Cecil, giving Cecil the win by disqualification.
Winner by DQ: Cecil Cerveza
As the 3 on 1 assault on Cecil continued, "Dangerous" Drew Thomas and Jimmy Karryt ran in to give Cecil a hand, and ran Cyclone, Jason V. and Aaron out of the ring. Drew then got on the microphone and issued a challenge for a 6 man tag team match. So now we have a six man tag team match set between Cecil Cerveza, "Dangerous" Drew Thoma, and Jimmy Karryt vs Cyclone, "Fabulous" Jason V. and Aaron Matthews. At first they were hesitant to accept the challenge, but the official for the match, Angelo Santelli ordered the match to start anyway, and began to count the threesome out of the match! About the time Angelo got to a nine count they finally decided to enter the ring and begin the match. For most of the match the team of Cyclone, Jason V. and Aaron had successfully separated the young Jimmy Karryt from his team and pummeled you youngster, but eventually Jimmy made the tag and Drew came into the ring and cleaned house. Jason V. and Aaron had gotten thrown out of the ring, and somehow Jimmy Karrty managed a suicide dive outside of the ring onto them and now the trio was all covered in mud! As the action moved back into the ring Jason V. had regained control of the match locking Cecil in the "Claim to Fame" only to have Jimmy Karryt make the save, but Jason V. locked Karryt in the "Claim to Fame" for his trouble, but this time Drew came into the ring broke up the hold and delivered a Cutter to Jason V. Angelo, not knowing exactly who the legal man was amongst all the confusion, shrugged his shoulders and made the 3 count on Jason V.
Winners by pinfall: "Dangerous" Drew Thomas, Jimmy Karryt, and Cecil Cerveza
Once again a big thank you to all the fans that waited out our rain delay, and to the town of Potomac for hosting another NBWA event at the Freedom Fest!
