Current mood:dazed and confused
I put up a new (ultra) rough track. We're talking: turn on the computer, grab a guitar and hit record from the floor of your best friends living room and then upload it immediately, kind of rough. But it is what it is. Someday we'll have classy versions again... But today is not that day. =) Anyhow, for now I am settling into my new location here in Austin. I refuse to form an opinion until at least 90 days have passed, but I'll keep you posted on my "progress." as always, love. love. love. ~Danica ps. I finally caved and, against my better judgement, made a facebook "fan page".. so if you social stalk on facebook, feel free to declare your "fandom" if you so desire: Danica's Facebook "Fan Page"pps. ..and thanks to those who made it out to the OKC show. You guys are great!

Current mood: inspired
Well 2009 is hours away.
I'm currently visiting family and I'm about to make my way down to Norman Oklahoma (home of the Sooners.. soon to be eight time NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!) to catch up with some old high school friends.
My first show of 2009 will be here in OKC this Friday night, if you are in the area please stop by (details can be found on this very here myspace). I'll be showcasing all kinds of new stuff (almost entirely new material actually) and I'm pretty excited about it. It's a little bit different from my previous efforts, but I think it's promising.. and more me. It's music I enjoy playing, writing and performing.. and the good news is: It's coming your way!
Whether then wait for the day I have the funds to deliver you a nicely wrapped, fully-produced package of music, I'm just going to lay out some work tapes and put up songs (stripped down, unedited, rough around the edges and all) as I feel so inspired.
Seeing as how I'm rarely nicely-wrapped myself, I think this approach is more my style anyhow.
So stay tuned.
May 2009 bring you wonderful things! Happy New Year. ~Danica

Greetings from a former Nashvillian.
That's right friends. Yesterday I loaded my car, left my home and drove away (with blurred vision for a bit) in order to start the next chapter of my life. I'm not sure what all that chapter entails just yet, but whatever it is, it will be new, and it will be mine, and I will find my way in it.
I've spent the past couple of weeks making almost 6 years worth of good-byes...and it hasn't all been easy, but we've had a lot of fun the process. Unfortunately I've come to find that there simply is never enough time to say good-bye.. especially at this time of year. So if I missed you, please know that it isn't personal, and that hopefullly in this digital ago of connection, we will still keep in touch. I've slept about 6 hours in the past 3 days attempting to make the rounds... what can I say, I love you guys!
For now I'm due for some R&R time with the fam in Oklahoma. (I slept in an actual bed last night! First time since Thanksgiving!).
I wish you all a restful and very Merry Christmas.
Peace, love and unexpected gifts, ~Danica

That's right.
Come Christmastime I'm off to share my music with Texas, making my headquarters in the capital city of Austin.
Nashville, I will miss you.
Austin, I look forward to being pleasantly surprised.
Nashvillians, come say good-bye before I go!
Austinites: I am very unfamiliar with your city. Let's be friends so I can learn of its gloriousness firsthand.
Texans: Let's book some shows! Message me.
Peace, love and relocating, ~Danica

1st off, yes, there are more video tour diaries coming... stay tuned.
Until then... I thought it was interesting that every now and then I receive random questions from people in my inbox. Some are funny. Some are serious. I'm not sure what some of them mean.. but I thought we'd start a new segment here at the Danica Mercer MySpace blog entitled: Random Q&A Sessions. (creative, I know)
For these posts I will compile some of the questions I receive/ get asked on the street and attempt to answer them. I have no idea how often I will do this, I guess it depends on how long/how often the questions keep coming...
For now, let's get started:
1. You hate cars? (from Andre) yes. I've had a crapton of stuff go down with mine in the past month and I am over it. I'm ready to pack my bags, head to New York and kiss cars good-bye forever!
Unfortunately being trapped in the south/midwest means that I just have to suck it up and pay the bills anyhow. anyone who knows me knows I have the worst car luck EVER. No lie. I've got stories dude. Call me.
2. In what unexpected places do you find inspiration? (from Amy) Several times I have sat down to write with an objective and then ended up with something totally different that came from being bored trying to write my original idea. Like some peoples' children, some of my songs were accidents. Good ones.. but still accidents.
3. Is your songwriting process static or does it depend? (from Amy) It depends.
4.Which song is your favorite? Which do you like least? Why? (from Amy) This changes a lot. currently my favorite song is one that's relatively new that I don't play often. I may be recording it soon, so we'll see. it just feels good to sing it.. I also love Vivian, the more I play it the more I like it. I love singing that one too. I don't think I'm gonna say which one is my least favorite... that changes a bit as well. sometimes I am easily influenced by the audience, if I feel like something didn't go over well, then that's usually my least favorite for the day. There are definitely some I like less than others though.
5. When did you first know you wanted to write songs? (from Amy) I wrote some really crappy stuff as a freshman in college when I first got a guitar. Then I became involved in life and school and all that jazz and I didn't really write again till my senior year in college.. really I didn't know this was what I wanted untill I was about 22/23. Somewhere in there things just clicked for me.. not necessarily musically, but personally. Every now and then i still check myself to see if this is stll where my heart is. And for now, it is. Yay.
6. Meditation and/or spirituality? (from Dylan) The word "spirituality" creeps me out... but I would say probably some of both, or something somewhere in the middle.
7. How are we going to awaken those who are stuck (deeply) in dogmatic religion? (from Dylan) With love, actions and in truth. Hopefully...
8. "What are you waiting for, a certain shade of green?" (from Dylan) Well Dylan, I too listen to Incubus now and again, but I'm not so sure I even believe in green, if you know what I mean. If there is such a thing as "certainty" then I, at the very least, think it's highly over-rated. This is not to be confused with faith.. a lot of people treat faith like certainty.. but personally I think the two are very different. In fact, some would argue that uncertainty is what makes faith, well, faith.
9. What's your name again? How do you say that? What does that mean? Where does that come from? (from 98% of the people I meet) It's Danica. Pronounced: day-nick-uh It's Hebrew/Slavic in origin and it means "Morning Star"
Have a random question? Send it on in and maybe it will appear in our next session..
Till then, more pics/tour videos coming soon!! Love cubed, ~Danica
