"Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and Plaid. In the case of Ottawa's Matt Rosen and his Liar's Rosebush alter ego, it seems fruitful to get these names out of the way as early as possible and focus on the essence of his music. Sure, Rosen's polyrhythmic breakdowns and driller's laments draw almost immediate comparisons to Warp's most notable and intelligent dance movers but on his second LP, Thank-You Machines!, Rosen drops a smattering of new ideas and avenues into the dunk tank of clichés that is post-Detroit electronics.

Songs like "Blowdarts and Burning Bridges" and "'B as in Boy" swim with a personality rare in modern day IDM. As the majority of songs twist beautiful, toy-ish piano lines under frogs-raining-on-tin-roof break beats, Thank-You Machines! sounds entirely gorgeous and somewhat hopeful. It's a well-conceived, multi-layered set of compositions from a fresh face in Canadian music. Certainly, the machines shouldn't take all of the credit."

Heyo,

I've just finished uploading a ton of new music to the myspace, as well as even more music up to the website.  This shit is all new, you need to check it!  Better than that junk I released last year.

I'm pumped to announce that this year will see the first-time release of liar's rosebush vinyl!  So all you DJs and collectors keep your eyes peeled!  It will be out on upstart US label livevil some time in the summer.

PLUS, we've just put together a brand new promotional demo that is heading out to labels and DJs as we speak.  It's a slick little package, and I love it to bits.  Keep your fingers crossed, and I'll keep you all posted on any developments or major-label signings.

So head to the myspace, the site, the streets, and show me some love!

Hive Records have announced that online sales of the new liar's rosebush album circle the squares will begin JULY 31.

But Ottawa residents, you're in luck!
The album will be available at live shows and local merchants in Ottawa only on JUNE 30.

So the 613 crew gets a jump on the rest of the world!


Meanwhile, liarsrosebush.com has been updated with a special treat -- two circle the squares sound kits!

These packs contain complete audio components from tracks off the new album. Each kit includes rendered layers of the track (beats, melodies, etc), as well as individual percussive samples used in the beat programming.

Enjoy them, and use responsibly. I would love to hear any remix material you come up with!
