Hi everyone,

We just got back from a couple of great shows in Pennsylvania - New Hope and Philly! It was our first time in both those places and we loved every second of it.

Yesterday after our show in Philly we spent some time searching around for the best Cheese Steak sandwich, and when we were eating dinner we realized that it was actually Canadian Thanksgiving.

Now, I can't say that it entirely replaced a big turkey dinner that our moms cooked, but it was pretty fun hanging out in Philadelphia, eating some local cuisine and meeting lots and lots of amazing people. Oh ya, and the show at OutFest was fucking wicked!

Kiyomi also realized that this is the first Thanksgiving she's been away from her family, so everyone save a little bit of their turkey dinner for her, ok?

Life for HV in Brooklyn has been going really well so far. We're getting more and more settled in by the day. Laura is making lots of new friends with her Puerto Rican neighbors, Kiyomi officially drives like a New York taxi driver now, and I'm still getting lost riding my bike around Brooklyn.

Our next show is at CMJ in NY on October 22nd. The very first time we ever played in New York City was at CMJ in 2007. I'm not 100% sure, but I like to think that that was when the love affiar for Hunter Valentine and New York began. Come celebrate that anniversary with us!

Love,
Adrienne

Well hey there!

So we are now in NYC and getting our lives set up and used to being here. On Sunday night we made a quick little trek out to Englewood, New Jersey to open for a little singer named Cyndi Lauper. The show was amazing! It was a different sort of setting for us, meaning it was a 2500 capacity theater. We had a great time and felt that we had a really nice response from the crowd. Thanks to everyone who kept their ears open for the opening act.

After we played we got to watch Cyndi in action. Wow! That woman sure knows how to put on a show. She holds her ground in a new and refreshing way on stage, even when she's busting out songs that she has been playing for years. I think that it can be a real challenge for performers. I mean, "Staten Island Dream Tour" was written when I was 16 years old and it's definitely important to remember that quite often when we play a show it will be many people's first time hearing that song. In a way you have to travel back to the time when you wrote the song and put yourself in those shoes. Like, what were you feeling then? Who were singing about? And how does that translate into your life now? Staten Island definitely still translates to my life now, because I still act and feel like a 16 year old and I probably will until I am 70. At the end of the show we were invited up to sing "Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun". It was definitely a moment to remember!

A young kid like me can learn a lot from a lady like Cyndi Lauper. Her work ethic and talent are traits to be admired and we are extremely honored to have shared the stage with her.

See ya soon,
xoxo

Hello kids,

So the rumors are true... we will be moving to New York City A lot of really great, productive things have happened for us lately. We signed with Tommy Boy Records in the U.S and are working with them to put our new album out.

But! What I really want to focus on here is Toronto I grew up in downtown Toronto and I pretty much learned how to play music up and down Queen West. A lot has changed in the neighborhood since I was a kid, but I know now that I am leaving that this will always be my true home. This city has allowed me to learn and grow so much and I am forever grateful for that. I have met so many people who have shaped and challenged the music that we make. I love the creativity and drive that makes this city thrive. I love that this city allows you to fall and only cheers you on to get back up. I love the food, the art, the politics, and the diversity. I will be extremely sad to leave, but I know that we will be back and I have so much excitement for change and the future.

The record is slowly but surely making its way to completion. We would love to get back out there playing shows every night, but know that right now we need to zero in on making this album sound exactly how we want it to.

You guys have been rad with support! We love to hear from you so drop us a line anytime you feel to.

See ya soon lovers!

That's right, I said it, you know yeah yeah!

why don't you just take it home with you...if you want you..unless you feel like it isn't worth it...can't say it will be...but just hold on to it...just cause it say too.

Feel it, love it, take it, lust it, fuck it, rub it, touch it, suck it, hug it, lug it, pug it, rough it

yeah that's right!

Hello Pretty People,

It may seem like we have been hibernating for far too long or that we are lazy or that we don't like you, but I want you to know that none of the above are true. We have finished our new record and are about to mix and master it. I love everything about the new songs and I am hoping that you will too! We also have 3

Toronto shows coming up for you to check out some of this new music I speak of. Show #1: A North By Northeast showcase at legendary Toronto bar “The Bovine". Show #2: A Pre Pride celebration with our favorite BFF Toronto Band DANCE YOURSELF TO DEATH at the Rivoli. Show #3: Pride show at Slack's where Laura will play the drums naked.

You should also know that our show at Slack's marks our 5th anniversary! It seems totally unreal that we have been a band for that long. It seems like just yesterday that we played our first show. To all of the people who have helped us along the way we want to say thanks for sticking it out with us over the years. We could not have maintained such a tight little unit without your support. I hope that you will all come celebrate with us that night and I promise we will not get sentimental and emotional. We may raise our glasses a few dozen times throughout the night, but there will be no tears. Hey! Maybe we'll even bring out some "vintage" Hunter Valentine songs? You'll have to show up to see what happens...

love always,

Kiyomaha

Well well well it seems as though March is upon us. Not that I'm complaining, but where did January and February go?

We have some new BFF's from Boston. The amazing ladies in The AndWutz put us up at their houses, showed us around their hometown, treated us like queens, and most of all, played two amazing shows with us in Boston and NYC. We're going to be extending some Canadian hospitality their way, so keep checking back for a double bill with our new musical lovers very soon.

When we were in Boston, Kiyomi and I decided to have a moment of allegorical tribute to our beloved mini-van. This moment started in a bar the night before and ended in the Pino Brother's Tattoo shop before our Boston show. For those of you who don't know, her name is Vanna White, and this unsuspecting road warrior has safely taken us coast to coast in all our North American touring adventures. Here's to many, many more tours together Vanna.

Love from
Pat Sajak

It’s Friday night and I am at home drinking tea. Do I want
to go out? Nope. Is this ridiculous to hear coming from me? Yes. Tomorrow is
our Valentine’s Day show and I am stoked. This is the first year in a long time
I don’t have a Valentine..boo hoo. I don’t get sad about it and the main reason
is because I have all of you to celebrate my favorite day with. Here’s a
secret: I may just like Valentine’s Day more than Christmas and my birthday
combined. Now that my friends, is ridiculous and it also goes to show what a
cheesy person I am. I have accepted this. At the end of the night when everyone
goes home I’ll probably end up calling my grandma and asking her to be my
Valentine or I’ll make Adrienne and Laura stay up in a conference call and
listen to me bawl my eyes out about how lonely I am. JUST KIDDING.

Lets side note for a minute. Did any of you watch the Grammy
Awards? What was your favorite performance? I myself enjoyed “Swagga Like Us”
with T.I, Jay Z, Kanye, Little Wayne and M.I.A. Good stuff. I also have to
confess that I actually cried when I watched Jennifer Hudson perform. I just
couldn’t get over the fact that she was performing so soon after she endured
such a tragedy in her family life. I mean, it’s quite a bit of pressure to
perform in general, let alone at the Grammy’s and having the weight of a life
turning event like that happen. What a strong woman she is.

Anyway, I am off to the video store to rent some horrible
romantic comedy. Someone should just change that film genre name to Meg Ryanomedy.
Who do I write to about that?

Love always,

Kiyomaha

Monday, January 26, 2009

I just realized there are less than 20 days until our national holiday. I probably say this every year, but I feel like a very lucky girl getting to spend this special day each year with Laura and Kiyomi. ..

Now just for the record, Hunter Valentine believes in romance 365 days of the year, but on February 14th we like to get together to celebrate our love of romance in a special way with all of you..

Not all of my Valentine's Days were as fun as they have been since I've been in HV. Do you remember how when you were little you used to give out Valentine's Day cards to everyone in your class? Well, I did at least. And so did most people in my class. But when I was in grade three I went up to Eric Van Beurden and gave him this "I choo-choo-choose you" card that I made, and as I waited for him to give me one back I realized that he had a card and cinnamon hearts for everyone in the class but me.

We're giving out a very special prize for the best - and the worst - Valentine's Day experiences. All three of us are going to vote on what we feel are the best entries - one prize is for the best, and one prize is for the worst. If you happen to live in Toronto, we'll give you this prize on Valentine's Day at the Reverb, but if you don't, tell us your story anyway and we'll send you your prize in the mail.

We love you lots,
Adrienne

p.s. Eric Van Beurden is personally invited to our Valentine's Day show at the Reverb.
