Radio Update 1 - 3/3/09

The triple A national radio campaign for Before You Could Decide is now underway, and so far I am happy to report that the stations listed below have either added BYCD to their rotation or have it on hand for DJs and for listener requests.

We’re excited for this nationwide exposure, and there is way you can help. If a station in your range is playing BYCD, you can let them know that you want to hear it! “Under My Skin” is the designated first single.

Thanks! More to come in the near future.

Hey,

So I have recently begun working with the Louisville-based company Kyle Meredith Promotions, for the radio promotion of Before You Could Decide. What does this mean exactly? Well essentially, Kyle Meredith publicizes new albums to radio stations all across the country, trying to get them airplay. Specifically, he reaches out to stations that play music under the category of AAA/Americana (AAA - in this instance - stands for "Adult Album Alternative"). Some are commercial stations; some are non-commercial, but stations formatted as such often appeal to loyal listeners who are interested in new, regional, and/or under-the-radar talent. An example close to my heart and history would be 88.1 WYCE in Grand Rapids, MI, where I've had the privilege of spins since 2002.

Kyle has worked with an impressive roster of clients including Ben Sollee (whom I wish I'd known about earlier), Dave Matthews, the late Elliot Smith, and Brooklyn-based Kelley McRae. I'm excited to see what we might be able to accomplish with this new partnership.

Category: Blogging

so, I have a history of abandoning blogs.

I had a couple that went on for quite a while, and a third one that never had a chance. They all lost their luster. Or, I ran out of steam. Or, we collectively lost that lovin feeling. Something.

I'm also a long-time journaler, so I fret about accidentally forgetting my "audience," storming the line of decency and reporting something really personal and/or incriminating under the guise of music news.

Now it's 2009 and I recognize all the lovely qualities and benefits of blogging, and that discretion in writing is no longer the daunting task my younger-twenty-something self didn't regularly grasp.

All said, thanks for reading - and for listening.
