My friend and colleague, Sascha Raeburn, has posted her latest work of a funky Manga-esque fight scene onto YouTube.

I love it and reckon it's the bomb in every facet of the production, I hope you do too. Enjoy! :D

My latest film project and the final piece of Animation work that i'll be producing by myself.

I'm glad it's done, that's all I can say... Enjoy :)

UPDATE! (08/11/09): 'HEGIRA' has been selected as one of the main feature presentation pre-show short films @ Cinebarre Cinemas in the US. It'll be screened with the movies 'Twilight: New Moon' & '2012'.

Cinebarre Cinemas are an independant cinema chain (Like Dendy & the Palace Cinemas in Australia) and have venues in Thornton, Colorado; Asheville, North Carolina; Mt Pleasant, South Carolina; Salem, Oregon and Mountlake Terrace in Washington.

Needless to say I am extremely over the moon by the news, no more so than it being paired to a series of films that will no doubt draw guaranteed audiences on a regular basis. I feel very blessed & honoured that it will have an official theatrical release in the US and would like to thank Cinebarre for graciously accepting 'Hegira' :)

On a side note, Hegira has been reworked into 720p HD with a remastered soundtrack by original composer Ed Harrison in the pipeline!

UPDATE! (20/10/09): 'HEGIRA' will have its official worldwide (live) screening at KINO #31 in Sydney next month. As part of the festival entry requirements, 'HEGIRA' will be kept offline for the time being until the 2nd of November, so if you can't make it or not in Sydney, keep your lids peeled till afterwards to get a chance to see it again.

I went and saw District 9 today, wow! What can I saw that hasn't been said in praise of the film already? Just go and see it, you wont be disappointed.
If you aren't familiar with director Neill Blomkamp's work in the past such as Tetravaal and Tempbot, then check out the vids below. Very cool :)

I was invited to the opening night of 'The Wonderful World of Dissocia' at the Sydney Theatre Company last saturday night and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the show, it was superb! A solid mix of mad-cap insanity and poignancy mixed into the storyline with a fantastic ensemble cast. I recommend anyone go and see it if they're in town while the season lasts. Link is below:

It's not everyday you come across a short film that you would say is perfect in every way, it's a rarity. But I was blown away by how sublime this particular one was, in the quality of both image AND sound, that I feel compelled to share it with anyone who reads my blogs. Enjoy... :)

Going through a random search, I came across this little gem of a tv show called 'Graduates'. It hasn't been picked up by a network yet but it is absolutely brilliant. So well produced in every respect and completely hilarious. WATCH IT!!!

This one comes from aussietheatre.com. The reviewers response is utterly hilarious:

The Prison of the Testicle. Reviewed by Maz Dixon

Clayton Moss and Jessica Holburn show themselves to be pretty good character actors in
this piece about a bickering New York couple. Dan Balcaban's directing is good, the set
evokes a tatty lounge room with just a few pieces of furniture. Nevertheless, once it was
over I found myself asking "…what was that all about?"

Fortunately we came 3rd place overall in that week for the People Choice vote. Not bad huh?

Monday, October 20, 2008

It's a busy start to the year indeed!

The exhalted sublimity of comedic penmanship that is 'The Prison of the Testicle' has been selected for the Top 100 plays to be performed for Short & Sweet Festival 2009 in Sydney. The play will run in the opening week at the Seymour Centre, Downstairs Theatre in Chippendale on the 21st-24th of January @ 8pm each night. It will be directed by Dan Balcaban & performed by Jess Holburn and myself. I am also the writer, that's why the play is so fu-fu-frickin' good...

Further Tix info @: Short & Sweet Tix (21st-24th January ONLY!!!)

AND...

...on the arse-end of TPOTT (pronounced 'teapot'), I'll be moving straight over to the Belvoir St. Theatre in Surry Hills (Sydney) for another production of the comedy: 'MATE'. The show will open from the 27th of January till the 13th of February. Tix Onsale from the 9th of January!!!

MATE Tix Info @: Belvoir St. Theatre (27th Jan-13th Feb!!!)

So if you're around in Sydney, please come along to either one or both, I'm sure you'll enjoy them!
