Caroline's World Service division has just released a series of classic albums from the EMI Japan vaults, available for the first time in the US as Japanese "mini-vinyl' CDs at affordable domestic prices (which means NOT $53.99 like they usually are...)

Each disc has been re-created using the original LP art design and features the most recently mastered audio and bonus tracks where applicable.

For instance, The Raspberries!, classic power-pop albums in a highly collectible form you won't find elsewhere. Operators are NOT standing by, but the following website will explain in more detail: http://www.carolinerecords.com/releases/japan_mini_album.asp

Other albums include titles from UFO, The Band, Jethro Tull, Blondie, Quicksilver Messenger Service and more....

Peter Hammill

Tonight @ The Cutting Room, NYC

6/18 Woodstock, NY @ Colony Cafe

6/19 Sellersfield, PA @ Sellersfield Theatre

6/21 Bethlehem, PA @ NEARfest (Zoellner Arts Centre)

Founding member of Van der Graaf Generator, Peter Hammill's solo work retains its proto-punk urgency while displaying his unique and wide-ranging vocal style. Drawing on his experience as a Jesuit chorister, Hammill both whispers and bellows with the simmering intensity of a fiery preacher.

Laura Marling

 6/18 @ Mercury Lounge, NYC

Eschewing the mouthy pop and cockney-accented indie of her contemporaries, 18-year-old Laura Marling is fast becoming an anti-folk sensation. Marling is a very modern troubadour who sings bold and literate missives from the trenches of adolescence.
-The Guardian

Plastiscines

6/21 Playing The ANTICS stage in Old Pasadena, CA  as part of Make Music Pasadena

Named for a line in Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Plastiscines are an all-female French rock outfit that delivers aggressive, no-frills rock n' roll in the vein of The White Stripes and The Strokes.

YELLE, THE PRIDE OF PARIS, TO RELEASE HER DEBUT ALBUM ON APRIL 1, 2008

I wanna see you in a porn flick, getting busy with your potato or french-fried shaped dick, so your body will have no more secrets for me..." - "Je Veux Te Voir" ("I Wanna See You")

With 2.5 million Myspace visits, the feisty pop princess known as Yelle is ready for her close-up.  On April 1st, Caroline Records will release the CD edition of Yelle's debut album entitled POP-UP.

Produced by GrandMarnier, this album was released in the U.S. digitally-only in late 2007 and became one of iTunes top-selling electronic albums. The album will now be available for the first time on CD on April 1st with a bonus track "A Cause Des Garcons (Tepr Remix)". Yelle will be appearing at Coachella 2008.

Born and raised in Brittany, France, Yelle is known for her spirited, explicit lyrics, laid over a booty-shaking pop electro beat.  This musical prowess was expertly showcased in 2005 with the track "Je Veux Te Voir" ("I Wanna See You").  The minute this humorous track (taking a friendly jab at French rapper Cuizinier) was placed on her MySpace page www.myspace.com/iloveyelle, it garnered 2000 plays in just two days. In just a few months it quickly became a cult hit on dance floors from Paris to London and New York.

Yelle is a very explosive character with a unique flow and spearheading a new
non-aggressive girl power scene, focusing on delivering kick-ass lyrics.
She also doesn't take herself seriously and is refreshingly laidback, especially when she proudly covers the song "A Cause Des Garcons" ("What We Do For Boys") a French '80s anthem. Let's all sing along to the lyrics: ("What we do for boys, we wear stockings, we fight each other, boys make us worry, we cry all the time, that's what we do for boys").
