Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out to the shows and helped make them happen. As usual it was an incredible experience. Hope to see you all again in the Spring with Schwervon! In the mean time, it's nice to be back home in New York nursing my jet lag & tour blues with a fat cup of black coffee and little blogity blog catch up. Check it out: http://matthew-roth.livejournal.com/Putting the finishing touches on the new Schwervon! this weekend and I feel a couple of new MMM tunes just about to squirt out as well. Stay tuned. love Matt

Oh yeah I forgot to mention it officially here. I finally finised my latest little group of songs. The album is available on OJ and it's called "Senile Pie Strive Pip Melancholy." It was the subject of an undecipherable SPAM email that I got one day that I briefly mistook for some kind of coded message!!

I went to go see Les Miserables with my sister on Thursday. She came to visit for a few days. It was okay. I thought the first act was much more compelling and the last act "the battle" was actually kind of boring. I saw Daoud on the way to the CoOp the next morning and it reminded me of a conversation that we had when we went to go see Avenue Q which is another musical right now that is sort of an "Adult" version of Seseame Street with puppets. It's actually really good. We were talking about how most modern or maybe post modern musicals seem have to involve some kind of self effacing or ironic quality to get over the cheese factor of people just randomly bursting out into song. It seems like maybe Les Mis could be one of the last broadway musicals void of any of this irony. I'm not really sure what I like better. But I did get the feeling like I was watching a soon to be extinct animal or something like that. Both of the shows actually deal with very timeless themes one about redemption and the other more about purpose. I'm really not a fan of Broadway but it was nice to see a piece that was not afraid to be full on and romantic.

Why does local news suck so much? I mean there's so much cool stuff going on and all they ever talk about is car wrecks and The Sopranos. It's so sad. And now it's like the silly banter between the newscasters takes up a quarter of the program. Is it really so hard to make the news interesting and truly imformative? Radio is doing it pretty well. I love listening to WNYC.
