Costa Rica-based melodic extreme metal band SIGHT OF EMPTINESS has commenced filming the music video for the track "Faceless Dream", from the group's forthcoming second album, "Absolution of Humanity". The clip is being shot in San Pedro, Costa Rica with director Sergio Gutierrez and producer Fernando Fonseca.

From 6pm to 6am, from Saturday to Sunday...what a day!

Super excited with what's coming our/your way lads. "Faceless Dream" Video captured the band in what they do best, an Aggressive live situation full of Power & Attitude.

Costa Rica-based melodic extreme metal band SIGHT OF EMPTINESS has posted two new songs — "Predictable Tragedy" and "Burning Silence" — on the group's web site. Both tracks comes off SIGHT OF EMPTINESS' second album, "Absolution of Humanity", which is expected to be released later in the year via an as-yet-undetermined record label. The CD was mastered by Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, SOILWORK, BLOODBATH, KATATONIA, SYMPHONY X) at Örebro, Sweden's Fascination Street Studios.

Commented the group: "Having Jens Bogren working on our new album is unreal. He is responsible for numerous masterpieces: OPETH's 'Watershed', AMON AMARTH's 'Twilight of the Thunder God' and KATATONIA's 'The Great Cold Distance'. Having him on board makes us a lot more excited about our new creation; you can't go wrong with a guy like this. We gave him the green light and he is doing an awesome job; we love this guy already. He is a perfectionist and an honest and humble lad."

Costa Rica-based melodic extreme metal band SIGHT OF EMPTINESS is putting the finishing touches on its second album, "Absolution of Humanity", tentatively due later in the year via an as-yet-undetermined record label. Singer Eduardo Chacón (a.k.a "fILTHY") states, "Last week, we listened to the final mix and let me tell ya, fellows, we are so freaking happy with the result, we can't believe our new baby is ready to give his 'first steps' out there. This new album represents a new page in the history of the band. Two new members debut in the studio; so much talent and fresh ideas they brought to the new tunes. We are talking about Rafa Castro (lead guitar) and Steban Monestel (bass, backing vocals)."

He adds, "For the recording of 'Absolution of Humanity', we worked with Jerry Ramirez, who had previously worked with the band on the debut album 'Trust is a Disease' (2007). This time around we looked for a bigger, aggressive and dynamic sound, just as the new material required it. Drums are 100% acoustic, no 'triggers' or 'sound replacement' involved, looking for a more 'human' feeling and not a 'machine - plastic' sound. We moved to seven-string guitars, which is going to bring more punch and heaviness to the songs.

And that's not it, Issue 172 (yeah, the one with Nachtmystium on the cover) contains a really nice Article about Sight of Emptiness being the very 1st extreme metal band in Costa Rica playing in an European Festival and with an Award in the: "Artist with more International Exposure" Category ... yes friends, we kicked some POP and Jazz BUTTS that night!

Sight Of Emptiness, the international acclaimed Metal act from Costa Rica, has  been nominated in two categories for this years ACAM Awards (May 26th). ACAM (Asociacion de Compositores y Autores Musicales de Costa Rica) is the equivalent of ASCAP in the USA.

One of Sight Of Emptiness nominations comes as a big surprise to many, they are nominated in the biggest category of the award show: "Artist Of Greatest International Exposure 2007". They are nominated together with two other Costa Rican acts, one Jazz act "Swing en 4 " and the other a Latin Pop band "Escats". This is the first time ever a Metal band is nominated in this category.

Sight Of Emptiness other nomination is for their debut album: "Trust is a Disease", which is in the "Best Heavy Metal Album 2007" category.

Sight of Emptiness had this to say about their nominations: 
"We are extremely honored and of course surprised to be nominated, not only in one category, but two! Finally, people in Costa Rica and the world are taking notice, we are a band to watch out for.
