LAURA STORY WINS HER FIRST DOVE AWARD
FOR INSPIRATIONAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR  FOR HER DEBUT ALBUM GREAT GOD WHO SAVES


Congrats to Laura Story who won her first Dove Award for "Inspirational Album of the Year" at the 40th Annual Dove Awards. Laura received four Dove nominations this year: Female Vocalist, Inspirational Recorded Song "Great God Who Saves," Inspirational Album and Praise & Worship Album. She was previously nominated in 2006 for the penning of "Indescribable" which was made famous by Chris Tomlin.

well, i'm a little intimidated by blogging but i've decided to bite the bullet and just do it.
this past spring I had the great privilege of doing a record with INO records and producer ed cash. i first met ed back in 1997 (wow! i'm getting old) at a young life camp called windy gap in weaverville, n.c. i remember telling him how much i loved his music and him commenting on a song I had written called "grace". its was pretty cool almost 10 years later to record that song in his studio. though ed had moved to nashville and had tons of success, he was still the same old country boy, humble and fun loving.
at the risk of sounding cheesy, recording with ed was a truly worshipful experience. i believe it came at a time in both of our lives when we were trusting God for some big answers to some of life's hard questions and God used the recording process to remind us of His faithfulness and His constant hand in our lives. on a less spiritual note, martin and i had a blast swinging on the rope swing in the back yard with the kids. over all, it was a fabulous experience!

Dear friends,

 

"Mighty To Save" is one of those songs that gripped me the first time I heard it.  I started leading it in our church about a year ago and everyone immediately fell in love with it.  I had never considered recording it until a friend of mine suggested it for the new album but it totally made sense.  It is crazy to think that a God big enough to move mountains came in human skin and died to bring salvation to humanity.  I hope the thought of this never ceases to humble me...
