Hello and welcome to the holidaze! It has begun. Holiday lights are up, sales are on, spirits are high. We'd like to invite everyone to a special CD release show this Friday in Santa Cruz, as well as thank everyone for our crazy fun, crazy successful shows in San Francisco and Chico. We felt a magnified woo, followed by a surging, churning hoo, and it was great! Special tip o' the hat to Asher Fulero who joined us on keys for both nights, and to Sean Lehe, Gonzo, and Hoffman who rocked with us in Chico. And of course, Fritz! Besides providing an incubator for the burgeoning Bay Area music community, he is a righteous dude. If you noticed colorful, schwirling lights at these shows, it's okay. It wasn't just you. Bill "Illy Dub" Ward illuminated the rooms with fantastic lighting on both nights, and will do the same for us and you this Friday in Santa Cruz. Since things are already getting excitingly hectic in the lead up to New Year's, we want to be sure you know about the confirmed guests at our Boom Boom Room shows following Railroad Earth and Hot Buttered Rum at the Fillmore. Andrew Ferren on sax, Aaron Redner from HBR and Brian Rogers from Izabella are all in. We expect there might be a few other surprise audio treats in store as well. A gentle reminder; our new studio album makes a great Holiday gift, perhaps even better than a sweater from Grandma! As always, please consult our website for detailed information about shows and albums and all things Churney.
And with that, best wishes to all and a super special shout out to Carrie Cooper Korsgaard for the awesome photo in this newsletter! Greetings hep-cats, Happy Fall! 'Tis the season of plentiful apples, color-changing leaves, ghosts and goblins, and all things pumpkin. Schweet! Five Eyed Hand's first studio album ever is on the way! Delivery is due 'round about October 29th. Look for a live appearance on KPIG San Francisco and CD Release shows to follow.
Besides the well-written and tastily recorded tunes, our self-titled album features great artwork and photography. All of which will be available through online sources in addition to the physical CD's. More details and special announcements forthcoming! For now, on with the shows! Some special guests coming up this weekend and beyond...we played a three-band show with Montana Slim a year or two ago and crossed paths at Bobolink, but this is our first co-bill. Heck yeah! Saturday we'll be graced with Kate Gaffney's musical goodness. In a few weeks Asher Fulero will be joining us for an opening set and lots of jamming. If you haven't heard him, Asher is one of the brightest, most enjoyable keyboardists playing today. Thanks folks! And just a real quick note that we will be playing the Boom Boom Room in December, following Railroad Earth and Hot Buttered Rum at the Fillmore. Wow, we're psyched!
Extracurricular Activity: Tuesday, November 3rd Derek Bodkin solo opener for Corduroy Jim @ Moe's Alley, Santa Cruz Happy Halloween everyone! For those going to Phish 8 or Las Tortugas, have fun, be safe and freak freely!

Hey folks, Good news from the land of Five Eyed Hand! Our studio album is leaping towards completion with expected arrival the first week of November. The mastering, art, and duplication are all in the works. We are taking special care to make this first studio effort sound great, with the songs recorded in the analog world. Then brought to our ears courtesy of helping, friendly robot monkeys. We've got some great shows on tap over the next few months and more a' brewin'.
At the Yankee there will also be a silent auction at the show benefiting our good friend Kate Struby. We will have 3 beautiful 12 x 18 photographs by Carlton Ward and one limited edition Ryan Kerrigan/Five Eyed Hand poster created for the celebration of Fiddler Mikey's 40th birthday bash, signed and numbered on hemp paper. Click the links to view the images of the items that will be available. And thanks for your support!
Thank you so very much, everybody. Have a good show!

Hey Scooby gang, With Bobolink dreams still bouncing around our heads, we wanted to send a quick note about our upcoming show at storied San Francisco venue Cafe du Nord. This club has played host to legions of awesome artists, from Bill Frisell to Iron & Wine. For this show we will be opening for Outformation, with James Whiton's band Jimmy and the Heavenly Knockers supporting. Outformation features members of the Widespread Panic family, and James Whiton's amazing electric double-bass playing needs to be heard to be believed.
As always, please consult our website for show specifics, news, and all things Churnifically pleasant. Cafe du Nord, San Francisco - Friday, June 19th
Summer Solstice Festival, Placerville - Saturday, June 20th A family friendly festival with our good friends and excellent musicians Izabella and Garrin Benfield.
All of us here in Churntown would like to extend a special thanks to all organizers, participants, and artists of Bobolink 2009. What a hoot! Stay tuned for a full wrap-up later next week.
Lastly, we'd like to highlight another archive.org show, this one from our Great Northwest run. The Goodfoot Lounge in Portland, special guest Asher Fulero on keys, great energy from the audience, and a matrix recording equals a fine listen! Take care of yourselves and each other, The Churn CHURNED ALIVE!

Hey cats, Here comes Bobolink! What a fun way to kick off the spring and summer festival season.
Before we get into the details of our recent Northwest tour, upcoming Bobo sets and June 19th Cafe du Nord show, we'd like to take a moment to highlight one of our recent shows uploaded to archive.org. The Cozmic Cafe in Placerville is a funky spot over a landmark mine entrance. Great people, excellent food, fun times. This show, from April 25th of this year, was recorded by Iain Haworth. An excellent soundboard recording provides some high quality Churn-o-riffic sonic pleasure:

As always, please check our website for all show details, new shows (LOTS in the works), news, and more. But not Nathan Moore. He'll be at Bobolink.
Bobolink Music Festival Saturday, May 30th - 5EH plays 11:00 PM to 1:30 AM inside the BeeHive. Sunday, May 31st - 5EH plays 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM outside on the Main Stage.
Cafe Du Nord, San Francisco Friday, June 19th - Opening for Outformation, with James Whiton's band Jimmy and the Heavenly Knockers supporting.
Summer Solstice Festival, Placerville Saturday, June 20th - With Izabella, Ka
te Gaffney, Garrin Benfield and more. GREAT NORTHWEST TOUR RECAP We really want to thank everyone who came to support Five Eyed Hand on our first journey outside of California. The hospitality, stoke and love you gave us left a lasting impression on everyone in the band.
Ashland, OR We made a bunch of new friends along the way. AJ who came down from Cave Junction to Ashland to see us and shared some Oregon goodness with us. So glad AJ found us on archive.org. :) Our sound man, Mark, really helped us sound our best in this new venue and were all very excited to play. The crowd may not have been that big, but it was ALL QUALITY!!
Portland, OR Asher Fulero is an amazing keyboard player from Portland that you all need to check out. He played a great opening set at the Goodfoot and did an incredible job adding great musical energy to the 5EH sound. We were thoroughly impressed with his attitude and chops and we look forward to teaming up with this man again.
We also got to see a bunch of old friends who really helped put the word out for these shows. We could never have had as successful night at the Goodfoot or Tiger Lounge without you all. You Visitors up in Portland really made us feel so welcome. Our superb hosts, Billy and Shannon, really made us feel right at home. Brian did an awesome job running sound and our good friend Jason Perkins displayed some amazing visuals behind the band.
Seattle, WA: He also followed us to Seattle's Tiger Lounge (a go-go), a new restaurant/cafe with a super friendly staff and great attitude. Jeff, our soundman, did a great job in providing sound and for his enthusiasm to "just want to be part of the band for the night."
Dunsmuir, CA Speaking of great sound, we have to give it up for Blue Turtle Seduction's soundman, Armando. Awesome job. And the Turtle boyz really made us feel welcome when we arrived at Sengthong's in Dunsmuir. The woman who ran the place (and the whole town maybe), Anna, was awesome. She set us up with a great meal and a sweet house on the river. Not sure we ever had better accommodations before.
We ate well just about everywhere we went. Post-show BLT's at the Lloyds were THE BOMB!! (mmmm... neighbor bacon) Special thanks to our master MC and poet of the Stokin' Word, Sam Flot, who came to support us with not only his words but his actions too. It was a pleasure to have him along for the ride.
Our manager, Chris Seeger, did an awesome job keeping this rock & roll machine running smoothly. Kudos, congratulations and thanks Seeger for the hard work. You make it much easier for these musicians to just play the best music we can.
Last, but not least, we feel like we should give an award to a couple of special friends who really helped set the energy level high to kick things off. Jason Beerbear and Shannon Lloyd surprised the band and made the trek from Portland to Ashland for our show at the Stillwater. And then supported us at the next two shows at the Goodfoot in Portland, and Tiger Lounge in Seattle. You guys ROCK!! We really can't wait to visit and bring the Five Eyed Hand groove back to the Pacific Northwest. Please visit BRO where you can purchase live Five Eyed Hand or view some recent video from a live performance.http://bayrecorders.org/five-eyed-hand
