I bring to you, THE PEOPLE, which I like referring to all of you as, in fact, when I talk about you behind your backs, I almost always call you THE PEOPLE. Anyway, I digress...I want to propose something that NOBODY has brought up...we need a catchy name for it so I am just going to start calling it the GAY STIMULUS PACKAGE...that sounds AWESOME...hahaha.
No matter what side of the fence you are on with the issue of same sex marriage, I think it has been overlooked that reinstituting the right of same sex couple to marry is an obvious and undeniably strong move toward ECONOMIC RECOVERY for the floundering State of California.
We are in economic crisis mode here and people want to argue about the gays, yet again? Come on people, don't you see it? The gays can save us all.
Here is how it works; California allows people to marry whomever they want, whether they are gay or straight or completely asexual is beside the point, just let everyone have the same right to marry and leave it at that. It will be a HUGE advantage to our state because few places allow same sex marriage....so why is that good?
People from all over will come to California to marry their significant other and that can only be good for TOURISM...which is good for the economy.
Then there are WEDDINGS...the average wedding costs almost $30,000 dollars...we can use more weddings here in California during these tough economic times and at $30,000 a pop that means a lot of businesses, caterers, wedding planners, hotels, restaurants, florists and on and on will benefit from the new law, which of course means we all will benefit either directly or indirectly from the GAY STIMULUS PACKAGE.
I know some of you are uncomfortable with the idea of people marrying whomever they want and I am not trying to get all in your face about it so don't get weird about our difference of opinion here. I just ask you to think about the economy, think about the nearly bankrupt state of California and ask yourself whether you could live with idea that allowing gays to be happy could equal, or at least help, in all of our economic recovery?
So join me in supporting the GAY STIMULUS PACKAGE and let's get California back on it's feet.

Hey everyone...most of that visit my page from time to time know that I am good friends with one of the most successful comics touring today. He has had two specials air on Comedy Central.
Well, every year Comedy Central holds the stand up showdown and has fans vote. I want Kyle to win because this type of thing really does matter in the industry and will help him become even more successful, which means that he might buy me lunch or coffee from time to time and I like both lunch and coffee (though I do not expect he will ever buy me both at the same time).
Anyway, please vote for Kyle because he is a good friend and a funny comic.
I really appreciate it Dane
You can vote every single day and you can also text "STANDUP CEASE" TO THE NUMBER 66333 for FREE as many times as you want. or just go here http://comedians.comedycentral.com/standup-showdown

Life is hectic and busy and filled with lots of stuff that is going to be amazing.
I have been cheating on you, though, myspace. After months and months of resistance and looking down my nose at it, I have found much of my online time has been spent at...Facebook...GASP....I know. But I just like facebook for my real world friends and family because it is so easy to stay in touch and there are lots of folks to stay in touch with.
I'm back Myspace....to give you the attention you deserve. And here is an update on some things that are going on...
The Dane Show is still something that we are trying to do but it has been put on hold for a minute while other things take priority.
I wrote a crime/drama screenplay that is in the early stages of pre-production. If things fall into place, we might have something more official to announce as early as January.
I just booked a stand up gig for January 7th in Los Angeles. It is a big lineup of local comics and should be a fun night.
Working on a bunch of other stuff but can't talk about all of it yet. I'm spending the last couple weeks of the year creating my master plan for 2009. It's gonna be a great year.
Love to you all...tell me how you are.

Recently, I bought some soap for scrubbing down in the shower...good old bar soap, nothing fancy like some of you get these days like body wash and whatnot...I just use bar soap like any normal person would. I got home, took a shower and opened my new box of three bars of soap only to find out that the soap is blue.
I do NOT like bathing with blue soap. I have no idea why it bothers me but it just does and I came here to let you know.
Hope your day was lovely.

I have probably seen the movie Doc Hollywood over 30 times. I know, ridiculous, right? Here is the thing though, I don't know why but I love that movie! I mean I can't turn the channel when it is on. I have to watch it and I can't explain to you the joy I felt when I found it at the video store on sale for two dollars.
I used to be a little embarrassed about my love for Doc Hollywood but now I embrace it!! Why not?
Have a great weekend!

Tomorrow I will finally get to do something I have waited for almost a year for, I will cast my vote for the most exciting political figure of my lifetime, Barack Obama. I know many people in my life are going to vote the other way and that is okay. John McCain would have received my vote in 2000 had he beaten down the Bush machine and won his party's nomination. But in this year, with so much at stake and so much work to be done, I am convinced that Barack Obama is the right man at the right time.
Tomorrow something bigger than politics, bigger than race, bigger than hope is going to happen and whether you vote with HISTORY or cast your vote the other way, you will feel it too. It has been 80 years since a presidential election did not offer up someone named Nixon, Dole or Bush on the Republican ticket and NEVER has a man like Barack Obama been been the favorite to win going into the last day of the campaign.
Barack Obama will win tomorrow and it won't even be all that close. He will come out in Chicago tomorrow night and give a goose pimple inducing speech that will both praise his opponent and prepare us all for the hard work that is ahead and on January 20th when he is sworn into office, he will become OUR President, the 44th in our nation's history and maybe the country begins to change a little bit, from red and blue states to a whole map with varying shades of the color purple.
Tomorrow I'm going to vote with history but we are all going to make it.
Love to each of you...please vote
Dane

Here in California, there are a number of Propositions appearing on the ballot in next week's general election. The one getting the most buzz is called Proposition 8 and I found a video over at FunnyOrDie.com that sums up which side of the issue I have landed on. I hope you do your research and vote for the candidates and issues that matter to you.

The Keating Five
You are going to be hearing all of these things talked about over the next month...all meant to imply that the other guy is a BAD GUY...
It SUCKS!
It is BULLSHIT!
I love OBAMA but even his camp is going to be slinging mud, I suppose because they feel they have to as a response to the desperation of the McCain camp, and I think it all sucks BALLS!
In short, McCain is going to try to convince you that you can't trust Obama...is it because he is black? You decide.
Obama is going to remind you about the Keating Five so that you know McCain is a career deregulator...leading us to the almost complete collapse of our nation's economy? You decide.
Politics have degenerated into a cesspool of bullshit topped with horseshit...all just a varient of shit, leaving YOU, the voter, left to disseminate between what shit is real, or important, and what shit is just your garden variety SHIT.
It would be great if we could just stop everything now and let people vote because what you need to know is already out there for your consumption. Instead, we are going to have to endure a barrage of absolute nonsense for about a month as each candidate looks to seduce voters who have yet to commit to their side.
Uncommitted voters, you may hold the balance of this election in your hands...be prudent, be careful, be measured and MAKE A FUCKING DECISION ALREADY but whatever you do, don't let the mud get on your good clothes.

Do you ever begin to walk, with purpose and determination, to get something or do something and about 4 seconds into your walk you realize that you have no idea where the hell you are going?
In cases like that, I always just keep walking, with even just a little more purpose because I figure that might make me remember why I am walking to wherever I am walking to but then, inevitably, I begin to think how weird it is that in less than four seconds I can begin to do something and forget what I am doing and wondering if that means maybe I am getting Alzheimers or something like that or maybe I just didn't eat a good breakfast so my blood sugar is low and therefore the short term memory neurons are't firing quite like they need to....so I arrive somewhere and just look at whatever I could be doing and do that instead and then go back to where I began....or where I think I began because, let's be frank, I have no idea what the heck is happening now that I suffer from low blood sugar alzheimers short term memory loss disorder or whatever....but when I finally get back to where it began...I always go "oh shit!" cause I immediately remember what I was going to do to begin with.
I think, from now on, I will just go back immediately to the start and hope for the best....and eat a better breakfast.

You might be sitting back, thinking that your opinion doesn't matter...maybe your opinion, god forbid, is different from mine...but you really need to consider that in 2000, George Bush won the Presidency because of less than 600 votes in Florida. Four years ago, the Governor of Washington State beat her opponent by less than 130 votes....that is amazing!!! Are you telling me there were not at least 131 people who wanted the other guy to win but forgot to vote or just chose not to? If I can't convince you to do it then maybe these folks can...
