Modesto Area Music Association awards given out tonight at the State Theatre, aka, the MAMA awards.  Modesto Blues Festival, lost out again to X Fest, but we are in the best large venue category, repeat nominees, so we thank Chris Ricci and Chris Murphy for having us down to the awards sow as is usual.

Tenth Annual MAMA awards, featured Joe Barretta band live, and winner this year, played our stage, Big Earl and the Cryin' Shame, who will be playing the Plough and Share in San Francisco in December, won for best Blues, jazz R and B category.

Clayton's, site of the 2009 Modesto Blues Festival after party, Blue Monday Jam, and the DJ Wilkens club series, won best restaurant club venue.

Our friends Rachel Renae and Dave Hanley who have played recent JB Presents dates, also won MAMA awards in best singer/songwriter indie music, and Americana categories.

Prior MAMA award winners, MoFo Party Band, will be playing at Barkin Dog a nominee this year in same category as Clayton's, December 20.

And our friend Lucky Lew won the MAMA lifetime achievement award this year.
